Volunteers spent a full day at Mathew Rusike Children's Home for their voluntary work. They helped in the home's gardens, harvesting crops, general cleaning and welding work.The orphanage has close to 50 orphans of various ages. It was a pleasure working with these beautiful people.

Wish Tree & Donation Drive: As a first time participant of Tata Volunteering Week, Tata Realty instituted a wish tree in their office in Mumbai on which were hung wishes of several children from one of their NGO partners. Employees picked out wishes and contributed the amount required to make the wish of a child come true. All fulfilled wishes were handed over to the children of the NGO. The volunteers also initiated a donation drive for essential materials for another NGO partner. All employees came forward to donate various items in good condition that could be donated for use by others. Both activities were interesting experiences for the employees and they are geared up for more volunteering activities in the future

Visit to Nasik Sirsoni Pada: A set of volunteers from TRIL visited the Nasik Sirsoni Pada center of Sahyadri Adivasi Bhauvidhan Seva Sangh to understand their requirements and how TRIL can support them and take the engagement further. The Trust focuses on issues of malnutrition, education, health & employment. The volunteers were really inspired by the work being undertaken by the trust.

TML Drivelines

Visit to Khursi: A young team of volunteers from TML Drivelines visited a nearby village Khursi. The team had a tour of the village and farms with the farmers and tried to understand the crop production this year, farming methods and irrigation facilities. The team also talked to the farmers about government developmental programs.The volunteers also visited the primary school of the village and interacted with the teachers and students. They tried to understand the status of enrollment and quality of education so that they can plan future activities for the school. It was an enriching experience for the volunteers.

Visit to Cheshire Home: Cheshire Home, Jamshedpur is a part of the noble chain of homes started by Leonard Cheshire in 1949 all over the world. 50 mentally challenged children reside there under the care of 10-15 Sisters. On the occasion of TVW, our team from TML Drivelines, visited the home. The team spent time with the children and provided them with essential medicines and a flex citing the DO's & DONT's for visitors. The day also happened to be the Annual Day of the Cheshire Home. The children performed wonderfully in some dance events. Small but beautiful handicrafts made by the children are displayed for sale, at a very minimal cost. It was a happy occasion for both the children and the volunteers. ‘We feel privileged to be able to help the organization with our small efforts’ is what the team had to say.

Awareness session: A team of volunteers gave an awareness session to the residents of Khursi village about the various development plans of the govt. for the underprivileged. This session was aimed at the involvement and participation of these people in the development process. The team elaborated on Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna for financial inclusion of all, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojna and Mukhya Mantri Laadli Laxmi Yojna for girl child education and empowerment, National Beema Suraksha Yojna for insurance, Janani Suraksha Yojna for mother and child care. The benefits of these schemes were highlighted with the help of interesting videos to attain their attention and involvement. The villagers were pleased to know about these schemes and they had a number of queries which our team answered to their satisfaction.

Hygiene session: A team of volunteers gave an awareness session about basic health and hygiene practices to the children of Khursi Primary School. The parents of these children also participated in the session. The team elaborated on the importance of basic hygiene practices like brushing the teeth, bathing, washing hands before eating etc. To encourage these habits, the team gifted items like tooth brush & tooth paste, soaps to the children. The volunteers demonstrated how to wash hands properly with soap. The children were then made to wash their hands after which they had their mid-day meal. Sports equipments like football, cricket bats & balls, carom board, badminton rackets were donated to the school to promote sports activities in the school. The children were also given school bags to carry their books which they were very happy to receive.

Park visit: A team of volunteers took the Khursi Primary School children to Jubilee Park. The children were delighted to see the park and the lake inside the park. Snacks and chocolates were distributed to their delight. They played around and had a nice time. It was a happy occasion for both the children and volunteers.

Swachh Bharat: As a part of Tata Volunteering week-3, Tata Housing Development Company conducted Volunteering event at Sardar Nagar B.M.C. School at Sion, Koliwada & the theme was "SWACHHA BHARAT". At the start of program the Sparsha charitable trust children welcomed all volunteers with "Swagat Geet" with their gleaming smiles and warm heart. This was followed by a session on importance of Swachhata. More than 35 volunteers along with 15 Sparsha children painted various pictures, drawings of "SWACHHA BHARAT" on external wall of B.M.C. school. The event lasted 6 hours and our volunteers left home quite delighted with their efforts of bringing forth a beautiful message for a Swachh Bharat

Finale: The final event of TVW-3 was celebrated in Mumbai on 4th April 2015. In the last round of volunteering the volunteers were assigned to paint the school walls of BMC run Sanyas Ashram School in Vile Parle. With utmost zeal and enthusiasm, in a short span of 90 min. TCL volunteers proficiently painted the school corridor walls. Volunteers also engaged with the school children of primary section over games, storytelling, craft, drawing and painting activities. TCL volunteers in collaboration with TCS and Tata AIA volunteers could reach out to 60 beneficiaries. The pledges for TVW-3 were also signed by Mumbai employees where most of the pledges were signed for education and skill development of the communities

Abhilashrayam Trust Visit: As a part of the Tata Volunteering week, employees of T Begur plant visited Abhilashrayam Trust, Kodigehalli Bangalore. Abhilashrayam has about 20 children as its inmates. The team spent about 3 hours with the inmates at Abhilashrayam, and each child was checked by the doctor for basic health conditions and was given advise. Snacks were provided to the children and the team also handed over a cheque for Rs. 15000, which was contributed by employees, staff and management staff and few service providers for the unit, which will be used by the trust as school tuition fee for the children. The volunteers also arranged to rectify some electrical wiring issues found in the building considering safety of the children. It was a great experience for the team being with young children from age of 2.5 and averaging about 7 to 8 years and to impart some joyful moments for the kids. Special thanks to Dr. Sashikanth Rao for his time and great effort of understanding and examining each child.

Surabi Shelter Home: On 2nd April 2015, 26 employees of Tata Capital, Chennai Branch participated in Tata Volunteering week III by cooking a meal for beneficiary of Surabi Shelter Home. The volunteers were segregated into teams for the preparation of the meal which included cutting of vegetable, garnishing/vessels washing and cleaning/cooking the delicious vegetable briyani, Aloocury, Gobi and soya gravy, kesari(Sweet) and Raitha (onion and cucumber) the volunteers prepared the above delicious dishes and later on were served to the destitute old age residents.The Team personally interacted with the residents which was mutually helpful. This was a lesson for our young employees to give respect to the old persons and some of our employees also feel that they missed to bring their lads along with them which in turn was a lesson for them. The volunteers also distributed fruits,biscuits, towels.

Kidihou Museum: Kidihou museum is an experiential museum with different station for children to get handson experience as different professionals including grocer, painter, builder, scientist, doctor,inventor etc. Tata Capital organized a field trip to the museum for 60 children of a Government Primary School. The field trip was planned to enable the volunteers to have a lot of fun withchildren while they learn about different professions and create unique experiences forthemselves.Volunteers participatedenthusiastically assisting children in their chosen profession. Science experiment ofblowing balloon without touching it was the highlight of the day. All children and adultswere equally surprised to see simple science principles creating magic.The life size angry bird station was another highlight which became very popular amongthe children. Two hours flew by and it was lunch time. Lunch was first served to childrenand followed by all team members. The day ended in a happy note with children saying thank you’s and goodbyes!

Hope Foundation: On 2nd April 2015, 17 employees of Tata Capital, Kolkata Branch participated in Tata Volunteering week III by cooking a meal for beneficiary of Hope Foundation. The volunteers were segregated into teams for the preparation of the meal which included cutting of vegetable, garnishing/vessels washing and cleaning/cooking the delicious meal comprising of Rice, Mugdal, Aluposto, Alubhaja, Fish, Papar, Tomato Chatni, Sweet Curd the volunteers prepared the above delicious dishes and later on were served to the children.The Team personally interacted with the children and they played Cricket and carom they also watched a movie on one of the employees phone. The volunteers thoroughly enjoyed their time away from their hectic schedule.

Hope for Children: The event started with a pleasant surprise when 12 volunteers turned up instead ofassured number of 10. Everyone was already in zestful mood to take on their responsibilities of putting together an Italian meal of pasta and garlic bread for children. Volunteers were divided in to different groups to boil pasta, wash and chop veggies, grate cheese and peel garlic.Everyone got to their tasks and many conversations emerged on nitty grittes of chopping, peeling and boiling material more efficiently, personal experiences with cooking and the recipe. By 2pm the food was ready to be served. The children sat in the open veranda – a place reserved for meals on special occasions and an interaction was organized between volunteers and children. The children introduced themselves and the volunteers too spoke about themselves and their professions. A game was played to make everyone comfortable and the veranda was filled with giggles and jokes. The volunteers then served the sumptuous meal of pasta and garlic bread. It was arefreshing menu and a special treat for children as their menu is fixed. After the meal, the volunteers cleaned up the kitchen and cleared the place and left for office.

Seva in Action: A team of 14 volunteers from Tata Capital volunteered with 35 intellectually challenged students in making products such as cloth bags, newspaper bags, candles, diyas wherein the students participate in the production process after receiving training. Certain steps such as cutting cloth, sheets based on specific size are challenging tasks for the intellectually challenged students and this is where the volunteers from Tata Capital pitched in.Before the students left for home they did a small impromptu dance performance for the volunteers. It turned out to be a day of double joy for the students with snacks and gifts in hand. The volunteers too left feeling satisfied after spending a heart touching afternoon with the students.

Taj Tashi – Hospital Visit: As part of TVW – 3 Taj Tashi team visited the mission hospital at Khasadrapchu to meet with the TB & Leprosy patient to spend time with them. They also donated badminton rackets and board games like chess, luddo and monopoly, Chinese checkers etc.

Jodhpur

Umaid Bhawan Palace – Cleanliness Drive: Umaid Bhawan Palace organized a cleaning drive as a part of the Tata Volunteering Week-3 on March 13th, 2015. The cleaning drive was organized in the Staff accommodations and staff parking area of the Hotel to create more awareness on good cleaning practices in organizations. Cleanliness of workplace surroundings can help in reducing allergic reactions to dust/mold and prevent illness amongst the associates.The team initiated the cleaning drive at Heritage staff from Heritage housing Colony near Palac and finished at the staff parking area. All associates participated enthusiastically in the cleaning drive keeping in mind their pledge of keeping their surroundings clean.All plastics, non-biodegradable items scattered around the accommodations were therefore removed and discarded from the nearby areas to a safer place.

Umaid Bhawan Palace – Health awareness: The Palace team organized a Hygiene awareness session for the underprivileged children at Bal Shobha Graha Orphanage. The hygiene awareness session aimed at creating awareness amongst the children on personal hygiene practices. The children were also given the opportunity to participate in an interactive questionnaire round which helped them in sharing their good practices with their friends. A free medical check up was organized for the children and medicines were given accordingly.The team distributed colorful caps, masks, fruits and fruit juice to the children to encourage healthy eating habits.

Taj Club House – Connemara Public Library Clean-up: Connemara Public Library at Chennai is one of the four National Depository Libraries which receive a copy of all books, newspapers and periodicals published in India. Established in 1896 the library is a repository of centuries-old publications, wherein lie some of the most respected works and collections in the country. It also serves as a depository library for the UN. As an initiative we have coordinated with the library officials and along with VBT Connemara & VBT Fishcove around 40 volunteers involved in this activity. We have arranged the books and gave a new look to the library.

Taj Mahal Palace – A Cleaner Gateway: As part of the TAJ GROUP –Tata Volunteering Week -3, we invited an NGO ‘Sankalp Rehabilitation Trust’ to participate in the Cleanliness drive along the water front at The Gateway Promenade. 18 volunteers from the Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai along with 17 volunteers from the NGO carried out this hour long activity which included educating bystanders about the importance of maintaining cleanliness for litter free roads. The volunteers from this NGO comprising reformed drug addicts received a chance to give back to community through this initiative and volunteers from Taj utilized this opportunity to interact with these individuals and enhance their sense of self-esteem.

Taj Mahal Palace – Basics of Hygiene and sanitation: As part of the Tata Volunteering Week 3, volunteers of Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai along with volunteers from Sealed Air (Diversey Care) and Tata Consulting Engineers collaborated for a unique interactive session with 300 students of the Colaba Municipal School. A film on hygiene and cleanliness was screened for the students and they were taught the basics of cleanliness and the importance of prevention of disease through conscious personal hygiene. To make the session more interesting and practical for the students, our partner volunteers from Sealed Air brought along sanitizers and a Glow Germ Kit so that the students could experience the concept. Posters and handouts were then distributed to re-enforce the learning.The session was well received by the students and greatly appreciated by the faculty at the Colaba Municipal School.

Taj Mahal Palace – Grand Finale: The Grand Finale for Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai was held along the theme of Swacch Bharat Abhiyan which was initiated by Mr. Narendra Modi in the form of a cleanliness drive which was conducted at Chowpatty beach (Girgaum) in Mumbai. A skit and short dance performance by the employees of the hotel ensured that the message of cleanliness and hygiene and its importance was conveyed to all who gathered there. 30 employees from the hotel took it upon themselves to spread the message of Swacch Bharat across to the audience. After which all the associates took up a cleanliness drive alongside the Chowpatty shore. These 30 employees cleaned this beach which is visited by many tourists and citizens of Mumbai. The associates of the Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai extended their full support for this initiative, which definitely turned out to be a hugely successful one.

Blood Donation: As part of the Tata Volunteering Week-3, Voltas Abu Dhabi organized a blood donation drive at Sheikh Khalifa blood bank Abu Dhabi on Wednesday 01st April, 2015. 13 staff members from Yas Mall and Ferrari Projects voluntarily participated in this event.

Thane

Donation Drive: Voltasemployees organized a donation drive between 17th March to 25th March 2015 where in an appeal was made to all employees to donate all possible belongings that could be used by the small children from the near-by orphanages.The drive received a very generous and healthy support for the entire location and a lot of clothes, bed sheets, painting material, stationary, Foot wear, hand bags, story books etc. were collected.The entire material was carefully sorted by the Volunteers and packed into 2 categories for the boys and the girls. This was handed over to the Orphanages (Divya Prabha for Girls and Vivekanand Balkashram for Boys) by the volunteers on 1st of April 2015

Arumbugal Aalayam: 20 volunteers visited Arumbugal Aalayam, an organization dedicated to preventing child labour and providing quality education and equal opportunities to underprivileged children. We carried enough vegetables and fruits to feed the inmates of this organization. Few of our colleagues took turns to teach a couple of students in their studies while some of them participated in some fun activities with the children.

Blood donation: As part of the Volunteering week, Voltas Chennai organized a Blood Donation Camp with the help of JEEVAN BLOOD BANK at its office premises. The camp was extended to Voltascontractors and vendors as well.39 donors participated in the camp. Coincidentally, spouse of one of the employees needed a bottle of blood urgently due to a medical emergency and one donor rushed to her aid.The 31 included few contractors, employees of HONEYWELL and Voltas employee

Seva Nilayam Visit: A team of enthusiastic Voltas volunteers visited the orphanage SEVA NILAYAM in Coimbatore. The Nilayam extends services to: Home for children, Junior Approved School, Care of Destitute Children, Saradhamani Devi Primary School, Seva Nilayam Girls High School, Working Women’s Hostel, Tailoring Institute for Women. Employees at Voltas contributed funds towards buying 35 chairs for the children. Volunteers also spent time with the orphan children and distributed cakes to them. It brought back our childhood memories and really made our evening wonderful.

JCTS Visit: A team of 5 volunteers from Voltas Chinchpokli visited Joseph Cardign Technical School (JCTS), a well-known technical institute at Parel. The team addressed a fresh batch of 13 young boys. This is the 25th batch sponsored by Voltas for a 6 month Certification in RAC for school drop outs from underprivileged strata.The session started with a talk on "Goals and Importance of Goal Setting" for an hour. After a healthy discussion, the boys were able to express their Goals and showed readiness in their efforts for achieving them. This was supported by sharing of personal thoughts and experiences by the volunteers.This was followed by an interesting 45 minutes interaction on "Safety" covering personal, road and office/ workshop safety hazards and preventive measures for the same. A detailed discussion on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and the vital necessity of the same was aptly facilitated by a Voltas volunteer.After this, a collage making activity on "Future India As We See" was organised for an hour. The boys were directed to work in 4 teams, viz. North, East, West & South. All the students eagerly participated with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm. It was amazing to see the art and creativity of these boys.Finally the winners were declared by the Voltas Team with along with JCTS Principal, Fr. John. The ceremony commenced with a small talk on importance of aligning the Goals with the Certification Course by Fr John, followed by distribution of chocolates to all participants and medals for the winners. Team (East team) with the 'Best Collage' was awarded medals, and the Runner Up team (North) was awarded gifts. The most creative member from each team were also awarded medals. The Mega Prize 'Best All Rounder" was awarded a special prize. A hearty vote of thanks from the boys at the end was the icing on the cake for Voltas Volunteers for the day

"Football is not just a sport. It teaches you how to play as a team, fight hard for victory, fight back when your back is to the wall and celebrate together individual and team victories. And of course the game helps you to stay fit and enjoy." So said President – Insurance at Tata AIG while inaugurating the Exhibition Match between Tata AIG Football Team and Brave hearts of NL School with a message ‘Building Character through Sports”. The school is run on a charitable basis for underprivileged children of slums around Orlem Church at Malad (W) Mumbai. As part of the TVW-3, we sponsored the entire kit for their under 14 squad of 25 budding footballers including shoes, stockings, shorts and jerseys. The last picture below shows the cheerful team in Tata AIG colours. On display was an excellent display of football by both the teams. The youngsters won by a solitary goal but the whole event that was conceived of and executed by Alwin & the MAD (Make a Difference) team won the hearts.

Kolkata

Ending the TATA Volunteering week- 3 with a solid attempt to reach out to those children whom we seldom meet in the society. We do lot of activities for children but this time we did it in a different way. The children who have everything yet nothing, they remain in the dark not just because of any physical disability but for the societal disability to accept them for their parents. On this note we had organised a fun fill interactive session with the children of Sonargachi (Asia's largest red-light district, located in Kolkata) their mothers are active sex workers, who comes every morning to St Mary's Orphanage & Day School- Dum Dum, Kolkata and strive to have a social life and go back home in the evening.April 2, 2015 was a remarkable experience for the TATA AIG volunteers who wish to have a courage and devote their valuable time for these children. We started off with self introduction and then divided ourselves into groups with each one of us getting involved with various activities namely carrom, skating, ornament making, basket ball and Table Tennis. We gave away 40 school bags and a TT board with all the TT kits and made them feel that we are there for them. It was an eye opener for all of us to realise how much privileged we were, who had a normal childhood.

Blood Donation Camp: Volunteers of Trent Hypermarket Ltd- Star Bazaar Bangalore team organised blood donation camp in association with Narayan Health City Hospital

TISB School: Volunteers of Trent Hypermarket Ltd-Star Bazaar Bangalore team invited 60 Kids from TISB school to visit the store. The tiny tots were given overview of retail & had spent quality time in Store. Chocolates were distributed to all the kids to make them feel happy.

Bhelaguri Estate

As part of TVW-3, the volunteers of Bhelaguri estate did line cleaning in Bhelaguri Division, wherein Estate Management along with voluntary workers cleaned Hospital and Natun Line. The volunteers cleaned line drains, swept the roads and collected the litter. 25 volunteers participated and after the job was done they were given a small meal comprising of Khichri in the Estate Crèche House

Hattigor

The volunteers of Hattigor T.E. chose cleanliness and Painting/white washing of Wash rooms, Toilets, Water reservoirs etc. at Hattigor M.E. School (Govt. run). First part of the activity comprised of cleaning and washing inside of washroom, kitchen, toilets, and cleaning the surroundings of the school. The second part of the programme comprised of white washing & painting of washrooms, toilets and water reservoirs of the school.

Lamabari

As a part of Tata Volunteering Week activity, the volunteers of Lamabari Tea Estate has visited a Govt. school for the above voluntary work. At first Management staff, Staff & workers of this estate painted one of the class rooms of Lamabari English high School and there after initiated the training of waste disposal and sanitation in Kishanpur village. The programme was quite encouraging and appreciated by the villagers of Kishanpur village.

Kolkata

The Kolkata team of Amalgamated Plantations Pvt Ltd participated in the TATA Volunteering Week initiative by partnering with New Light, an NGO that strives to provide a safe and healthy environment for children of sex workers. By running childcare centres across the red-light district of Kalighat in Kolkata, New Light has ensured that the children of these areas are shielded from the lurking dangers of street life, especially during the evening hours. Employees of Amalgamated Plantations volunteered at one such crèche called Jhinuk which was in desperate need of a revamp. The day started with the volunteers distributing gift packs filled with chocolates and cakes to the children at the crèche. Soon after, the real work ensued and the older children from their other centre in the area, joined in to help. Volunteers split themselves in to two groups where one group started work on the inside walls and the other group started work on the exterior. Some of the volunteers and children touched up the already existing art work on the inside of the crèche while work had to start from scratch on the outside. The wall was first white washed and then different animals were painted on it by the volunteers. It turned out to be a day of hard work, with a sense of accomplishment and lots of fun not just for the kids but even for the adults!

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL)

CSR awareness campaign: Special Consumer group of TPDDL organized collection camps at JJ clusters and resettlement colonies where Brand Ambassadors from Women Literacy Program sensitized public for various CSR programs taken up by the company. Over 700 brand ambassadors were involved during the entire month of March’ 2015 at 48 different locations where they interacted with JJ cluster residents and encouraged them to be part various ongoing CSR programs like Women Literacy, Vocational Training, Drug de-addiction camps, Accidental Life Insurance, Energy Conservation, Mobile Health Dispensaries etc. in their respective clusters.

Customer sensitization: Volunteers from Operations and Customer Services department organized Udyam, a customer outreach program, at 2 locations where more than 100 consumers were sensitized about the CSR programs, Energy Conservation and Safety initiatives TPDDL has taken up for benefit of needy ones. Official encouraged consumers to disseminate information about the CSR programs so that the potential individuals can avail benefits. Volunteers shared the detail of initiatives taken in form of presentation. At the end a quiz was conducted on the learnings shared during the session and winners were recognized. 25 officials offered their volunteering services for the sessions.

Visit to a children's home: Volunteers from Enforcement Accredition Cell of TPDDL visited Child Home at Badli and spent quality time with the resident kids of the home. Volunteers carried gifts & snacks with them for the kids and organised fun filled games for the kids.

Drawing competition: Volunteers from Enforcement Accredition Cell of TPDDL organized drawing competition & poem recitation for kids at tutorial center of Rohini Sec-3. The theme for the painting competiton was environment and for poem was ‘Women’. Nearly 30 kids took part in the fun filled event and enjoyed a lot with the volunteers. 50 EAC volunteers contributed to make the program joyful for the kids

Tata Motors Senior Leadership Mr. Ravindra Pisharody - Executive Director CVBU, Mr. Gajendra Chandel – CHRO and Mrs. Minari Shah -Head Corporate Communications, volunteered their time engaging and interacting with IIT Bombay Students of the Financial Aid Program (FAP) on 9th April 2015. They shared with the B.Tech, M. Tech & Dual Degree Engg. Students their own professional journeys from the early stages of their careers and through upto assuming leadership positions within the Company. They exhorted the students to believe in themselves and aspire for higher things in life. Mrs. Damayanti Bhattacharya, CEO IIT Bombay Alumni Association (IITBAA) who has anchored this event thanked the Sr. Leader-Volunteers from Tata Motors for sharing their valuable time, insights, experiences with the students and sought their suggestions for developing a Module for sustained Mentoring of IITB FAP Students by Senior Management of Tata Motors. Tata Motors under its CSR Education Vidyadhanam Project supports the FAP program at IIT Bombay.

Tata Motors Senior Leaders Mr. R T Wasan - Head International Business CVBU and Mr. Vinod Sahay - Head Sales & Marketing IMHCV Trucks, volunteered their time on 8th April 2015 engaging and interacting with Students preparing for IIT JEE and & other Engg. Competitive exams at Avanti Learning Center, Sion. Avanti’s Learning Centers provide low-income high-school students a world-class science and mathematics education. Mr. Wasan and Mr. Sahay shared, with the Std. XI and XII Students, their own professional journeys from the early stages of their careers and through upto assuming leadership positions within the Company. They exhorted the students to inter alia work hard in life, be disciplined, have a sense of gratitude for all the good things in life and not buckle in front of problems or peer pressure. Ms. Aakanksha, Head Operations for Avanti Mumbai who has anchored this event thanked the Sr. Leader-Volunteers from Tata Motors for sharing their valuable time, insights, experiences with the students.
