TATA VOLCON 2024
Tata Sustainability Group hosted the TATA VOLCON 2024 at Taj Lands End, Mumbai, on the 12th of December 2024. It witnessed the participation of Tata leaders, volunteering leads, champions, and employees across group companies. The objective of the TATA VOLCON 2024 was multifaceted. Firstly, it aimed to reiterate the Tata Group's volunteering goal and aspiration, emphasizing volunteering as integral to the Tata identity. Secondly, it celebrated the spirit of volunteering and champions of volunteering across the Tata Group, acknowledging their tireless efforts in evangelizing volunteering. Over the past 10 years, these efforts have contributed to the Tata Group clocking over a million volunteering hours annually, surpassing the aspiration of 4 volunteering hours per capita by 2025 a year in advance. Lastly, the VOLCON served as a platform to share leaders’ perspectives on the Tata Group’s volunteering goals, the pathways explored by them, and their recommendations for the future of volunteering at the Tata Group.
Volunteering at Tata Group by Chacko Thomas
The opening address was delivered by Mr. Chacko Thomas, Group Chief Sustainability Officer at Tata Sons. He highlighted the remarkable volunteering journey of the Tata Group, rooted in Jamsetji Tata's vision of keeping the community central in alignment with the Tata core value of responsibility. With over a million employees globally, the Tata Group ranked prominently among corporate volunteering programs worldwide in the fiscal year 2024. He congratulated the group for successfully surpassing the TGSC volunteering aspiration (of achieving 4 PCVH) a year in advance of 2025.

Mr. Chacko Thomas extended his congratulations to both employees and leaders, for their consisted and concerted enthusiasm and efforts. Moving forward, he envisaged the group would continue its endeavour to increase unique participation in volunteering and strengthen impact volunteering.

Leaders Speak: Driving Excellence in Volunteering
This session was moderated by Mr. Mukundan Ramakrishnan, MD & CEO of Tata Chemicals, and included leaders Mr. C K Venkataraman, MD, Titan Company Limited; Mr. Girish Wagh, Executive Director, Tata Motors; and Mr. KRS Jamwal, Executive Director, Tata Industries Limited, who shared their leadership perspectives on volunteering.

The power-packed panel session highlighted invaluable insights on the significance of nurturing a culture of volunteering, the value of leveraging opportunities for skill-based volunteering through ProEngage, and leadership perspectives on the future of volunteering at the Tata Group.

‘Tata Engage’, Tata Group Volunteering Awards
The evening of the VolCon celebrated the remarkable dedication of both companies and individuals to year-round volunteering across various programmes, through the prestigious Tata Engage Awards. These awards were presented to 11 deserving companies across 9 award categories. The companies who were felicitated for their contribution to the group volunteering performance included Tata Consultancy Services, Indian Hotels, Tata Communications, Tata Power Group, Tata Elxsi, Titan Company, Tata Advanced Systems, TajSATS Air Catering Limited, Tata Consulting Engineers, Tata Chemicals Magadi, and Tata Insights and Quants.

Additionally, four employees—Brian Dowd from Tata Communications, Louis Chandra Kanth Prathap from Tata Consultancy Services, Mazharul Bari from Tata Steel, and Pragya Mahajan from Tata Power Group—and one group of employees, ‘Melghat Mitra Group’ from Tata Motors, were honored for Exemplary Volunteering, recognizing their exceptional efforts and unmatched commitment to social causes over the years.

The winners were felicitated by Tata Sons leaders, Mr. Saurabh Agrawal, Executive Director and Group Chief Financial Officer at Tata Sons; Mr. KRS Jamwal, Executive Director of Tata Industries; Ms. Nupur Singh Mallick, Group Chief Human Resources Officer at Tata Sons; and Mr. Chacko Thomas, Group Chief Sustainability Officer at Tata Sons.

Tata Consultancy Services, received the award for ‘Volunteering Stalwart’, ‘ Highest Per Capita Volunteering Hours’, ‘Champions of Tata Volunteering Week’, ‘Champions of ProEngage’ and Excellence in Volunteering.
