TATA VOLCON 2024
On the 6th of March 2024, Tata Sustainability Group hosted the TATA VOLCON 2024 at Taj Mahal Palace Mumbai. It witnessed the participation of 170 Tata leaders, volunteering leads, champions, and employees. The objective of the TATA VOLCON 2024 was multifaceted. Firstly, it aimed to reiterate the Tata Group's volunteering goal and aspiration, emphasizing volunteering as core to the Tata identity. Secondly, it celebrated the spirit of volunteering and champions of volunteering across the Tata Group, acknowledging their tireless efforts. Over the past 7 years, these efforts have contributed to the Tata Group clocking over a million volunteering hours annually, surpassing its ambition of 4 volunteering hours per capita. Lastly, the VOLCON served as a platform to share leaders’ perspectives on the Tata group’s volunteering goals, the pathways explored by them, and their recommendations to achieve the Group Aspiration for 2025. Additionally, it showcased best practices adopted by Tata Group Companies to successfully deepen and widen volunteering at an enterprise level.
Volunteering at Tata Group by Chacko Thomas
The opening address was delivered by Mr. Chacko Thomas, Group Chief Sustainability Officer at Tata Sons, who highlighted the remarkable volunteering journey of the Tata Group, rooted in Jamsetji Tata's vision of keeping the community central and the Tata core value of responsibility. With over a million employees globally, the Tata Group ranked prominently among corporate volunteering programs worldwide in the fiscal year 2023. He emphasized that embedding scale in volunteering had been possible due to the group's 'Big Tent' approach, and he congratulated employees and leaders both for their enthusiasm and efforts. He shared that moving ahead, the group would continue its endeavor to embed further scale and quality in volunteering, towards increased social and environmental impact.

Special Address by Nichole Cirillo
The keynote address at the TATA VOLCON 2024 was delivered by Nichole Cirillo, Executive Director of International Association for Volunteer Efforts (IAVE). Nicole congratulated the Tata Group for fostering a positive, inclusive, and sustainable culture of volunteering across companies and their diverse business contexts. She presented the future trends for volunteering identified through IAVEs global research, which resonated well with the volunteering SPOCs and champions. She hoped that Tata group continues to be the global leader on volunteering and achieves the landmark 10 PCVH performance in near future.

Leaders Speak – Panel Discussion
The power-packed session highlighted how a culture of volunteering had been built within different business realities and how it had brought alive the core Tata value of responsibility. Moderated by Mr. Adrian Terron, Head of Corporate Brand and Marketing Strategy at Tata Group, the panelists included Dr. Praveer Sinha, MD & CEO, Tata Power Group; Mr. Neelesh Garg, MD & CEO, Tata AIG General Insurance Company; Mr. Sanjay Dutt, MD & CEO, Tata Realty And Infrastructure; and Mr. Milind Lakkad, CHRO, Tata Consultancy Services, who shared their invaluable perspectives on volunteering.

Volunteering Awards
The evening also celebrated the remarkable dedication of both companies and individuals to year-round volunteering across various platforms through the prestigious Tata Engage Awards. These awards, a testament to excellence in corporate social responsibility, were presented to 11 deserving companies across 9 distinguished award categories. Among the honored companies were Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Power Group, Tata Communications, Tata Coffee, Titan Company, Rallis India, Tata Consulting Engineers, Tata Realty and Infrastructure, and Tata Insights and Quants.
Additionally, two employees, Nitin Yadav from Tata Motors, and Arjinder Singh from Tata Power, were honored for Exemplary Volunteering, recognizing their exceptional efforts and unmatched commitment to social causes over the years.
The winners were felicitated by Tata Sons leaders, including Mr. K.R.S Jamwal, Executive Director of Tata Industries; Mr. Harish Bhat, Tata Sons; and Mr. Chacko Thomas, Group Chief Sustainability Officer at Tata Sons.
