Guwahati: On 18.03.15 a team comprising of fifteen (15) volunteers, from the APPL Guwahati Office went to a government school, Jyotinagar Prathamik Vidyalaya, Govt. LP School, located at Bamunimaidan, Guwahati, where we chose a pre-primary classroom to clean, paint, decorate and make it attractive for the children.

Jamshedpur: A one day Blood Donation Camp was organised by "APARAJITA" (Tayo Ladies Association) at Recreation Club, Tata Complex Colony, Gamharia. 168 donors participated in the camp and donated blood voluntarily.Concluding the Camp, "APARAJITA" thanked all donors, members of Jamshedpur Blood Bank and Voluntary Blood Donors Association for their support in making the Camp a success.

Tata Motors Finance

Thane: NGO Divya Prabha focuses on the development of girl children who have been abandoned by their parents or whose parents are in prison and helps them learn to live their life independently. The Thane centre of Divya Prabha is home for 23 children from the age group of 6 and 16. Prior to the event, TMF engaged with the NGO to identify their key needs and developed an engagement program on the same. As the NGO does not have library for its school going children, a total 34 books including dictionary, maps, novels, quiz, short stories on women empowerment were donated to the NGO. This was followed by a training on Sanitation and Hygiene and games with children. The session was concluded with cake cutting and snacks distribution. A total 18 volunteers participated and there were memorable take-aways for both the children and the volunteers

Trent Hyper Market Ltd-Star Bazaar

Pune: As part of Tata Volunteering Week 3, volunteers of Trent Hypermarket Star Bazaar organised a sports competition for Fr Agnel Ashram in Wadgaon Sheri - Pune on 19th March.The volunteers spent entire day with them followed by snacks party. The Joy and Enthusiasm is clearly visible on the faces of these kids.
On 20th March, volunteers from Trent Hypermarket Star Bazaar -Pune visited Orphanage Maher and spent quality time with all the kids. The kids gave a traditional welcome to the volunteers and volunteers distributed snacks and toys to kids.

Ahmedabad: As a part of Tata Volunteering week III volunteers of Star Bazaar Ahmedabad conducted awareness campaign on Swine Flu.

Thane: Colleagues from Star Bazaar Thane Team organised practical training for Aspirants of PANKH (an Initiative by TRRAIN- The initiative thus aims to create sustainable livelihoods for PwD and also promote inclusive growth in retail sector) These are Differently Abled candidates who are undergoing a training in Retail Management and the team supported them by giving a practical exposure to a Hyper market store.

Aurangabad: Volunteers of Star Bazaar Aurangabad invited kids from Child Development Centre (an NGO which works towards development of kids from weaker section of the society) to their store and spent quality time with them followed by a Snacks party.

Tata Technologies

Bengaluru: Tata Technologies Bengaluru CS Team organized Dental Checkup camp and health talk for children ofa government school at Byrasandra, Bengaluru on 18 Mar 15. 37 underprivileged children participated in this health talk and checkup camp organized with the support of Dr. Sujatha and team from Apollo White. The team provided tooth paste to each child after their checkup and explained the Do's and Dont's of Oral hygiene. CS team also spent time explaining them importance of dental hygiene and keeping the teeth healthy. School authorities and children were very happy to be part of this activity.

Jamshedpur: A volunteer from Tata Technologies Jamshedpur participated in a session conducted by Tata Motors at Vidyasagar Vidyalaya, Bawangora, Jamshedpur. The volunteer conducted sessions on Safety Awareness and Value Education for school children and also interacted with the Principal about various concerns of the school and problems faced by the students. Around 250 students attended the program.

Tata Chemicals

Mithapur: Tata Chemicals has taken-up a project for development of the Chandra Bhaga community wetland at Baradia village near Dwarka as a waterfowl refuge. The aim of this project is to create awareness amongst the community and involve them in wetland and waterfowl conservation and at the same time create new livelihood opportunities for them through promotion of ECO-tourism. TCL employees and their family members volunteered for the Chandra Bhaga wetland mapping exercise and a social survey of the village which was carried-out alongwith the village leaders. A total of 60 volunteers participated in this program.

Tata AIG

Mumbai: 10 volunteers from the Infinity Office created a Paathshala with a Difference at a Municipal School at Goregaon, Mumbai. There were no books but a video and power point to spread the message of hygiene and preventive care against swine flu; there was no exam but a quiz to test the kids on what they had learnt in the class; there were no punishment for wrong answers but goodies for giving a right answer; they came in empty handed but left the class with hand sanitizers, biscuits, note book, pencil, bottles...

The volunteers went in with an impression that they would have a difficult time, with children not participating, but were pleasantly surprised seeing the school spick and span, a bunch of enthusiastic and disciplined children, some extremely talented and intelligent and extremely cooperative and good teachers which anyone would be proud of having. A learning experience at both ends as 70 children learnt about precautions to be taken to avoid swine flu and the volunteers came back happy and enthusiastic to go on to the next mission.

Surat: Over the years Tata AIG has done many a volunteering activity but for the First Time they had their volunteers going to Rural India and participate in a Sanitation & Hygiene activity. Five member Surat Team participated in CLTS (Community Led Total Sanitation) program along with NGO FINISH Team at Karela Village on Saturday 21st March 2015. Karela Village is in Bharuch District and is approximately 100 kms away from Surat. Here are some of the highlights of the day:

TATA AIG team reached at the location in the morning at 7:30 am

Community gathering took place at the village at around 8:00 am where Sarpanch and the villagers were present.

At the gathering with villagers, basic idea about health, hygiene and sanitation was given

and villagers where requested to take active participation in the program.

At around 10:00 am small teams where formed among TATA AIG and FINISH members to visit house hold individually.

Questioners where filled by the team regarding sanitation habits, health related issues, toilet facilities etc.

The team had gone to around 30-40 households and collected valuable data which will be utilized further for development.

Indian Hotels

Chennai: As part of Tata Volunteering week 3, Taj Club House conducted the Blood Donation camp with association Jeevan Blood Bank. 42 associates donated blood for the Noble cause.

Tata Teleservices

Delhi: TTL volunteers in Delhi conducted a session on Interview Skills for students of Viklang Sahara Samiti Delhi (VSSD).

Mumbai: A team of volunteers went to National Association for the Blind (NAB) & did book recording / reading & Braille book binding at their centre. Another set of volunteers collaborated with Taj Hotels & went to Prem Dan, NGO which works for slum children. They played with the kids & organized painting competition

Tata Motors

Sanand, Gujarat: As a part of TVW3 celebrations, more than 100 employees of Tata Motors at Sanand, Gujarat have volunteered their time in several activities including inter alia creating awareness on health, environment, cleanliness, safety for school children and taluka level malnutrition prevention awareness sessions. About six employees from Tata Motors Finance also participated in the school interaction program

Pune:

Auto Projects Team: A team of 21 volunteers from Auto Projects (TCF,FELP,CKD, IB Projects) teamvisitedPrerna Bhavan, a house for the mentally challenged, disabled children and old aged home for abandoned women and spent time with the children and elders. The team supported them with some of the daily needs like phenyl, bathing soaps, antiseptic liquid, hair oil etc.

Maval Foundry Team: Volunteers from Maval Foundry celebrated Tata Volunteering by playing holi with students of Sevadham Ashram Shala. The team also understood the need of the students and gifted them with water bottles. The team also could appreciate the deprived economic conditions of all the students while interacting with them.

Strategic & Business Planning Team:
Another team of volunteers visited Dyangangotri- a home for children needing special care as they are either abandoned by their parents, or orphaned or are mentally challenged.

Axle Factory Team: Team of 13 volunteers from Axle Factory visited SAVALIat Kothrud. SAVALI is a registered charitable trust working for children affected by cerebral palsy and mental disabilities. It provides these children with a home for a lifetime and gives them care with education, therapies, good living, vocational training, etc. and thus helping them to become independent.Team was engaged in four activities, initiated cleanliness drive in Savali Kendra, completed civil work, created awareness on Swine Flu and enjoyed snacks with children. All of them expressed their happiness and gratitude to the volunteers.

MPL & P Team: Team of 22 volunteers from MPL & P team visited Vikas Anath Asram. Volunteers spend time with children. Children enjoyed movie along with the team.These were the moments that brought smile on the face of children

Mumbai: Employees of Tata Motors and Tata Technologies, accompanied by some of their family members came together and volunteered their time interacting with mentally-ill inmates of Thane Mental Hospital, Thane (West) on 23rd March 2015, 11AM - 1PM. The Hospital inmates used fabric colors for painting on Tee-Shirts and volunteers assisted them in articulating their thoughts pictographically. Employees engaged in a dialogue with them and tried to learn about their professional & personal lives prior to them being admitted to the Hospital. Dr. Shirsat, Superintendent of the Thane Mental Hospital thanked the Volunteers for taking their valuable time for this.

Titan

Bangalore: As a regular feature, Titan's doctors organize blood donation camp in their manufacturing plants. As part of Tata volunteering week, they organized it at the corporate office of Titan. The volunteers donated a record 187 units of blood.

Tata Consulting Engineers

Mumbai: TCE's Tata Volunteering Week -3 program with the youth from the Antarang Foundation became eventful when Dr. Mukund Rajan & Mr. Harish Bhat (GEC Members, Tata Sons Ltd.) volunteered to take a session. Mr. Bhat & Dr. Rajan counselled the students on the importance of education and hard work and touched a chord by sharing their own personal experiences. Mr. Haran, MD, TCE also joined them in answering queries. Students learned excel and had their own personal Gmail IDs created by the end of the session. The career counselling sessions were undertaken in collaboration with Tata AIG, Tata Interactive and Indian Hotels.
