Tata in North America

Staying true to the Tata tradition of giving back to society, Tata companies in North America, through their corporate social responsibility initiatives, aim to be good corporate citizens by supporting local community initiatives in the areas in which they live and work.

Tata companies in North America focus on positively impacting education in communities where Tata companies operate. During the Tata Volunteering Week, the Tata Sons North America office worked with its partners First Book, First Book Canada, the Magic Johnson Foundation and the SOS Children's Villages of Illinois as well as a Washington-DC based NGO Vital Voices to create over 1,000 volunteering opportunities for Tata employees in North America.

Employees from Tata Sons, Tata Interactive Systems, Tata Communications, Indian Hotels, TCS, Tata Technologies, JLR, Tata Chemicals North America, Tata Steel, JLR and Tata Global Beverages volunteered at specific schools in Washington, DC, Jersey City, NJ, New York, NY, Chicago, IL, San Francisco, CA, Detroit, MI, Green River, WY, Ontario, Canada Cincinnati, OH, Warren, OH, Livonia, MI and Dallas, TX.

The volunteering week was extended to run throughout the month of March which was designated as Volunteering Month in North America. With support from their management more than 700 employees in North America volunteered in their communities on a personal level as well as at programmes organised by their companies or at the group level in Canada, Wyoming, Ohio, New York, New Jersey and California.

Some other volunteering activities undertaken by Tata companies during the Tata Volunteering Week: employees from TCS and Jaguar in Canada spent time with kids at Hewson Public in Brampton ON; Tata Steel employees at Euclid Elementary in IL, read and distributed brand new books to children via First Book; TCSers at PS30 in Jersey City read with first graders; TTL North America volunteers read to first graders at Garfield Elementary in Michigan; volunteers from Taj Boston Hotel served breakfast to WLP Boston shelter; Tata Chemicals North America employees spent hours volunteering at a local church in NJ; and volunteers from Tata North America spent time with kindergarten children at DC inner city school.
