As a part of the Tata Volunteering Week, 29 employee volunteers of Tata Housing visited Hamara Foundation's street children centre at Gilder Lane Municipal School in Mumbai on March 7, 2014. They spent close to five hours with 75 children and organised drawing, singing and dancing competitions. For the volunteers it was an amazing and fun day for both the children and the volunteers. The winners of the competitions were given their prizes by Nirav Dalal, VP and Head Corporate Planning, Tata Housing.

Hamara Foundation is an NGO dedicated to the welfare of street children of Mumbai and Tata Housing has been supporting its activities through regular visits by employees, providing nutritious food, books, stationary and uniform to the children.

Volunteer speak

Vinod Sharma: It was a wonderful experience looking at the smiling faces of tiny tots, who were deprived of basic necessities due to family circumstances. Making them perform and participate in cultural activities and sports, not only boosted their morale but they also showcased their hidden talents. Having lunch with the schoolchildren was also a life-changing experience. The whole team participated wholeheartedly and the activities relieved them of the stress they undergo while performing their official duties.
