As an alternative to the Ice Bucket Challenge, the Rice Bucket Challenge served the dual purpose of highlighting water scarcity (in that the use of ice was considered expensive and wasteful) and poverty - in that a bucket of rice was considered a valuable donation by recipients. Group of 17 employees from Ginger Ahmedabad visited at "Vanprasth Seva Samaj" to initiate the "Rice Bucket Challenge" and donate a bucket of rice to the old age community.

Around 26 volunteers cleaned the road around the hotel premises. They collected four bags of garbage. They also cleaned the ATM which was filled up with paper and sand. Few passers-by appreciated the effort.

TSPDL Volunteers visited ASHARI, which is an Animal Shelter cum Hospital and Research Institute. It looks after the reportedly ill or wounded stray animals of the city. The main activity of volunteerism was cleaning of a ground and surrounding premise of ASHARI, which runs over 4.4 acres of land. With the whole-hearted efforts of all the volunteers, the activity was successfully completed in time. They collected over 25kgs of plastic and bio wastes to make the place cleaner and safer for the residing animals, staffs and nearby occupants. This also was a step closer towards the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan as driven by the Prime Minister. Further to the cleaning activity, they also procured the food materials for the animals, which was prepared in their kitchen for each of its kind, i.e., dogs, cats, cattle and birds.

Vivanta by Taj M G Road Bangalore got together in their cleaning gears for a clean-up drive in the periphery of the hotel. Volunteers across departments picked up the brooms and set forth an example for the public of Bangalore. The event was witnessed with high enthusiasm and participation where in the cleaning team took up the nooks and corners of the neighbourhood to make it plastic free.

The hotel has a bunch of local vendors in the periphery area of Vivanta by Taj at Trinity Circle, M G Road, Bangalore. In the past, the creative volunteering teams had donated hand-worked dust bins as one of the initiative plans. The volunteers this time got together to brief these vendors on the importance of proper disposal of waste items. The volunteers also got a chance to speak to the customers of these vendors who take the concept of cleanliness at low importance. The tea cups and the cigarette butts were targeted, emphasising on the nature of their decomposing cycle.

A team of volunteers from TSPDL visited to Aggrawal Public School. The volunteers interacted with the students, tried to capture their aspirations & provided them the career guidance. They helped the students in clearing their difficulty in different subjects. They also organised a quiz competition for the students, which covered questions from various fields like science, history, geography, current affairs etc. At last, the program ended with sharing the students’ knowledge related to basic safety and hygiene.

12 volunteers visited Asha Bhawan for Rehabilitation for Alcohol and Drug Addicts. The residents were very happy. They gave cake and vegetable puff for the evening snacks. They also gave lost and found items and old towels for their use along with a few crockeries for their use.

A team of volunteers from TSPDL went to Asha Niketan, an NGO that runs by people both with and without disability located in Tangra, Kolkata. The day started with the volunteers interacting with the children and serving tea and snacks to them. They conducted drawing competition for the children and helped them to draw and colour their drawing. Children also performed beautiful dances and sung poetry which was very heart touching. Thereafter, the volunteers assisted the adults in packing the diyas & candles.

Rallis Akola volunteers organised a General Health Check-up camp for all the Contract workmen. The volunteers given the awareness on the importance of healthy life and our role in maintaining the good habits. The doctors explained the various precautions to be taken and the maintaining the equal diet, to avoid junk food and removing the bad habits like consumption alcohol and tobacco products.

Rallis Lote unit volunteers along with an English Literacy Development teacher organized a session on English Literacy Development Programme at Z P School, Matwadi, Songaona, Lote for their 6th and 7th Standard students. In continuation of the English Intervention classes, they conducted Bridge Course Test -2 for 45 students and received very good support from the students. They also covered an exercise of basic word formation, its meaning in Marathi, right pronunciation of words with its meaning.

The children of class I to V participated in poetry and danced competition and class VI to VIII participated in song competition. The best performers for each group were awarded prizes. Volunteers also distributed biscuits and sweets to all the children of the school.

A volunteering programme was organized at Rajendra nagar site, Kenworth Project, Hyderabad. The volunteers identified the trainees who are working on the project. They interacted with the trainees and gave them an awareness on the facilities at construction company and explained safety measures to be taken while working at a construction site. The volunteers were also given awareness and focus on the personal hygiene and safe drinking water. After the awareness and interaction with the trainees distributed the certificates to 40 trainees.
