Rallis Akola volunteers celebrated Women’s Day by visiting the community hall at
Shivar Village & interacting with the women where they provide skill training to
them. They were motivated for self-defence sessions and taught how to become self-confident.
Some of the women were felicitated for their good work in the society. The slides
were shown to them on the life stories of some of the successful women who contributed
towards nation development.

The volunteers interacted with the children and discussed their areas of concerns
and challenges in their lives. Volunteers organised various activities for the children
as like singing, dancing and drawing competitions. The winners in drawing & dance

grocery, personal hygiene kits & daily usage items. The volunteers felt honoured
and blessed for being able to serve in this way. They also had a cake cutting celebration
with the children to bring smile on all their faces.

Volunteers visited Barvai village ZP school near Panvel and explained how to plant
saplings with the use of waste coconut. All children learnt the process of creating
best from waste. All children with the volunteers planted the saplings in waste
coconut and assure us to take care of the saplings in future. Volunteers with the
children inaugurated the digital board given to the school to help understand the
subjects very easily. One of the girl students showed how to draw the graph on digital
board. Event ended with playing some games on children’s request.

A team of 60 women volunteers from Tata Projects, corporate office visited an orphanage
‘Cherish Home’, Kismatpur, Hyderabad. The volunteers interacted with girl children
and discussed their areas of concerns and challenges in their lives. Volunteers
organised various activities for the children as drawing and quiz competition. The
winners received the prizes from the volunteers. They served lunch to 40 children.

Rallis India limited, Dahej Unit, organised Women’s day celebration at the factory
premises. Women from the surrounding villages were invited to the factory premises.
A session on health was organised by the Factory Medical Officer. Factory Unit Head
also addressed the women. Different fun games were also planned for the invited
women and at last the program was closed with a cake cutting ceremony.

home. The In-charge of the home briefed them about the place. The joy and smiles
they had on their face was contagious. The volunteers spent time by spreading love
and joy, listening to their stories and bringing smiles to their faces. They also
served snacks to them.

Tata Global Beverages Limited, Munnar undertook a day’s voluntary community social
service. They visited the Govt. Lower Primary School, Munnar, Kerala that provides
education to plantation sector employees children, majority of them belonging to
socially backward categories. A total of 90 stakeholders from the factory took part
in this activity. They undertook various sessions with the children and painted
the school.

14 TCE volunteers took about 64 kids from St. John's special school and their teachers
for a trip to the Wonders Park located in Nerul, Navi-Mumbai. These kids rarely
get the chance to go on a trip with their class. The kids had a wonderful time as
they had a train ride and played on different slides in the park, ate a meal together
with the volunteers and shared their stories from school. Kids with special needs
are often neglected by society and mainstream education system because of their
inability to function normally.

Coastal Gujarat Power Limited in association with Bhojay Sarvodaya Trust, Mandvi
organized Community Health camps in the nearby two fishermen villages named Tragadi
and Modhva. The volunteers actively participated in the health camps and coordinated
for the smooth organization. Specialized doctors from Bhojay Sarvodaya Trust attended
the camps and volunteered their services for the wellbeing of the community. The
camp was organised for the health check-up for the women and girl children. The
women volunteer from CGPL also explained the importance of health and hygiene and
the significance of Women’s day.

The volunteers visited Mogli Child school run by R C Chauhan Charitable Trust. The
school run evening classes to provide quality education to the kids of nearby villages.
It was indeed a worthy visit as the volunteers got the opportunity to spend fun
and learning time with the kids and interact with the teachers to understand their
requirement. The volunteers are truly inspired by the zeal and support of the teachers
as the education is supported by maximum of unpaid voluntary teachers. The volunteers
have already decided and planned their next visit to the school in the coming week.

On International Women’s Day an awareness session on menstruation hygiene was organised
for contractual female employees. It was an infotainment session, with the combination
of an open discussion on keeping hygiene and using sanitary napkin during menstruation
and entertainment via screening of “Padman” movie. All the female staff truly enjoyed
the movie, laughed out loudly at the comedy scenes and discussed openly about the
menstruation difficulties after the movie. The senior leaders also joined in between
the session and jointly we cut the cake and cherished the moment. Sanitary napkins
were distributed to all the female employees at the end to encourage awareness and
usage of sanitary napkins.

Z P School, Ghanekunt, Lote. Eight volunteers provided all the necessary materials
to them. Few villagers also appreciated the initiative. All the participants made
beautiful rangoli images. In the end of the session prizes were distributed to the
winners.

Maintenance work of a biodiversity park

The volunteers started with the work of maintenance of Biodiversity Park which shelters
17 species of wild animals and more than 80 species of birds. Volunteers helped
in removal of plastic trash and other waste from in and around the park area; removal
of exotic weed species; and for tilling of organic compost beds and removal of mature
manure which would be used for expanding the plantation activities.

More than 1,300 women from 26 surrounding villages participated and took part in
cultural activities including traditional folk dances like Ras and Garba, short
skits based on the theme "Press for Progress" and a Fashion Show. TCL volunteers
had extended support in training these women and in organising the program.

3rd of March at Tata Motors Jamshedpur was a day of celebrations. Tata Volunteering
Week was launched by Head- Manufacturing and Head Jamshedpur Plant. In their address
Head Manufacturing and Head Jamshedpur Plant reiterated the importance of volunteering
and encouraged employees to participate in TVW9. On this occasion Alankar Awards
were given to individuals and teams who demonstrated exemplary performance in different
fields including Art, Literature, Social Work, Education, Sports etc. Bhavishya
Nirman Scholarships were distributed among meritorious SC/ST employee wards and
UDAAN scholarships were given to meritorious children from villages in CSR operational
area. Senior executive’s wives visited Hitku village and interacted with women Self
Help Group members. They approved a financial support for RO plant installation
the village.

JK Infotech office. 40 employees participated and donated 40 units of blood in one
day. Blood units will be donated for the thalassemic patients across Pune hospitals

Safety Training for Vendors’ Employees

Employees from Tata Motors Lucknow plant created awareness about industrial and
domestic safety amongst the workmen of the supplier community. Safety is an integral
part of Tata Motors culture and the company’s vendors & suppliers are the closest
members of its eco-system. It is only natural that the employees take it as their
duty to cascade the safety culture beyond Tata Motors, amongst the employees of
the suppliers. Volunteers from Tata Motors Lucknow, came together to deliver awareness
cum training sessions at 2 such supplier locations. The sessions were designed to
sensitize the workmen about the need of safety, the consequences of safety lapses,
the basic understanding of hazards, risk, incidents, accidents, near miss and how
to respond to situations of accidents. The experts also briefly touched upon the
various types of fire extinguishers and their respective uses in industries. In
total around 150 workmen were trained and made aware about the basic safety procedures
and precautions which they need to follow. The sessions were followed by questions
from the workmen who cleared their doubts about various real-life situations like
handling kitchen fires and road accidents. Experts also visited the working areas
of the workmen and suggested some immediate precautionary changes for safer working
conditions.

Sea level rise is a global phenomenon, a direct result of "Climate Change". While
small island nations are facing the threat of submergence; coastal erosion, salinity
ingress and a host of related problems are on a steady rise. Mangroves have helped
mitigate these problems arising due to sea level rise and hence there has been a
spurt in interest in protection and expansion of mangrove plantation in the coastal
areas worldwide. Mithapur has a mangrove growth which is more than three decades
old and volunteers at TCL joined hands to protect this important habitat which provides
habitat to a multitude of marine creatures as also the native waterfowl. A program
was organised to remove the plastic trash brought down by the sea waters. TCL employees
and family volunteered to collect and remove this trash to ensure a healthy mangrove
community for Mithapur.

A program on Drip Irrigation was organized at Ramchandrapur Village, in partnership
with Green View Nursery, Jamshedpur. The program focused on benefits of alternative
irrigation system with more efficient resource consumption and high yields. The
program was attended by around 25 farmers from the local community. 10 volunteers
from the company organized the event which was appreciated by all.

Building loose boulder structure

Volunteers of Rallis Lote unit made a Loose Boulder Structure on a stream coming
from a waterfall with the help of few farmers of Ghanekunt village. Recently Rallis
has completed a Hydro Power Generation Project over there. The purpose of making
loose boulder structure is to store the natural rainwater in the same area so that
this can be recharged to the ground and usable for cultivation purpose of vegetables
in the paddy field. The attempt was successful and volunteers and farmers were very
happy.

Protecting wetlands

The Chandra Bhaga wetland near Mithapur plays host to more than 47 species of waterfowl
and other migratory birds. This wetland is fed water by the Korada stream which
in a monsoon drain for rainwater from a vast catchment area. TCL volunteers organised
a drive to clean-up the Korada stream along a causeway which falls on direct path
of pilgrims who walk down to the temple city of Dwarka. More than a tonne of discarded
footwear, plastics, glass bottles and other waste left behind by the pilgrims was
collected and removed from the stream to prevent it from reaching the Chandra Bhaga
wetland.

at NH-520, near TSIL Main Gate for Road Safety Campaign. Drivers without using crash
helmets, seat belts, or following other unsafe practices were intercepted & stopped
for sensitization message on road safety. The program included company employees,
contractual employees & security staff.

The Rukshmani Creek near Dwarka city features a lush mangrove stand. This mangrove
zone is a foraging site for waterfowl and some of the native bird species have started
nesting here. Fishermen from the surrounding Rupen settlement come here for fishing
and crabbing. A volunteering program was organised by TCL volunteers to collect
and remove plastic trash from this mangrove zone. Plantation of mangrove saplings
was also done as a part of ecosystem strengthening drive.

a program on Child Rights & Education. The school constitutes of 90% students from
the Schedule Tribe and Schedule Caste communities. The volunteers counselled the
village children on benefits of education for a better life in future. The rights
of the child were discussed in detail.

Vidya Shakti Niyas, the women volunteering wing of Tata Sponge, organized a mother
- child competition in Shishu Kalyan Pratiyogita in the village of Panchananpur.
The participants included 237 babies (0-3 yrs). Awards were given away to winning
contestants judged on specific criteria like health, response, measurement, weight,
growth psychosomatic responses.

Volunteers from Ginger, Mysore visited Gosai Ghat which is situated on the banks
of the Cauvery river, upstream of Sangama at Srirangapatna. The volunteers noticed
litter piling up in river. A senior colleague briefed the team about importance
of the river and helping the environment. They checked the water levels to make
sure it’s safe for volunteers. Volunteers cleared the waste clothes, flowers, plastic
etc. which was thrown by devotees/ pilgrims in the river.
