As part of this, volunteers of TCS Lucknow visit the bank (an identified portion) of river Gomti and do extensive cleaning for at least an hour every month. Thereafter, they collect the garbage and segregate it into biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. The biodegradable waste is dumped into a deep pit dug in the ground and the non-biodegradable waste is collected together at an identified area to be taken away by the garbage trucks of the Municipal Corporation. While they started with cleaning as the primary objective, efforts are also being made towards beautifying the river-bank area by planting trees. TCS volunteers carry organic manure (generated from our in-house Organic Waste Converter) along with them and spread it generously along the plants/ trees to make the land more productive.
