Tata Sons Beijing office, TCS China and Nanjing Tata AutoComp Systems jointly donated a library to Xinhuai Elementary School in Huoqiu, Anhui Province. To improve the learning environment and provide a better future to local students, Tata companies jointly donated more than 1,000 books and school supplies. 11 Tata volunteers participated in the activity. The school, with a total of 160 students and 23 teachers, is in urgent need of reading materials and classroom facilities. Understanding their demand, Tata volunteers brought them more than 1,000 sciences, fairy tales, and classical books, as well as a variety of school supplies such as educational toys, tape recorder, globe and sporting goods. Tata volunteers also helped transform a classroom into the school’s first library for students to read and study in, equipping it with tables, chairs and library materials

HRM officers of Tata Steel, Jharia division visited Sparsh Centre, Jamadoba and interacted with the leprosy patients. The team gave some tips on how to maintain proper hygiene habits to stop spreading of this disease. They also distributed towels to leprosy patients.

TSPDL volunteers visited Welfare Society for the Blind (WSB), Kolkata. Volunteers organized Quiz competition, which comprised of questions from exciting rounds based on the various topics like General Knowledge, Current Affairs, and Sports etc. All the teams actively participated and gave healthy competition to each other. After Quiz, students were served lunch by the volunteers. In the second half of the day, volunteers conducted an entertaining Antakshari for all students. Both the Quiz and Antakshari turned to be a successful event. At last, the program concluded with distribution of prizes to all the winners.

Taj West End, Bangalore donated the timeworn uniforms of associates to Goonj. They donated 1241 uniforms including Trouser, Shirts, coat & Waist Coat, etc. Goonj turns these underutilized materials as resources and are utilized for rural and ignored disaster prone areas.

Taj West End, Bangalore organized the Swachh Bharat initiative wherein volunteers came forward to drive and implement the idea of cleanliness in and around the hotel. The initiative covered the cleaning of the periphery areas of the hotel and neighbourhood. Deep cleaning of the periphery areas made area look spick and span. The initiative also managed to create a lot of public awareness as it sent out a strong message about the importance of cleanliness.

Green Walkathon took steps ahead commencing from Taj West End Staff gate at Crescent Road to Taj West End Main Gate at Race Course Road. Hotel mobilized around 45 volunteers from different departments who carried placards with messages. The volunteers across hotels and departments come together despite of busy schedule. The support from the Leadership team and police force made it possible for the event to be a successful one.

Rallis Volunteers have organized health check-up camp in association with PEHEL NGO at Aghai village near Shahapur. 4 volunteers participated in the camp helping the team of doctors in registration of the villagers, taking weight, height, age. 70 villagers took the benefit of this camp.

Rallis Akola volunteers organised a dental and general health check camp at Savitribai Phule Primary School at Umarai, Akola. Rallis Medical Officer alongwith the team gave information related to day to day hygiene required for better healthy life. After that the general health and dental check-up carried by the team of doctor. Around 125 students took benefit of the session.

Team members of Vivanta by Taj-Surajkund visited an orphanage- Pranav Kanya Sangh, Faridabad. The volunteers from different departments came together to spread awareness among the girls on personal hygiene and grooming through interactive sessions. The hotel’s gardeners also volunteered by up keeping and shaping the garden and lawn. The other employees also took the initiative to keep the area clean and hygienic. While one of the hair stylists volunteered by giving haircuts to the little girls. The kids were excited and happy after spending quality time and sang bhajans for the volunteers. The team members gave away few eatables and other things to the kids which was liked and appreciated by them.

Taj Krishna Hyderabad visited Tata Strive Skill Development Centre with Director - Operations, TAJGVK Hotels & Resorts Ltd and General Manager and operational leaders. Their center is 13kms from Taj Krishna. It was an amazing and fruitful visit to understand their working process, training methods, career opportunity and how they monitor marketplace, design and develop courses according to interest of students.

The lady associates from #TajKrishnaHyd & #tajbanjara visited the Vivekananda School where a session on menstrual hygiene was conducted for the girl students the Gynecologist from the Zoi hospital told the girls about how they can maintain a good lifestyle and ensure that they don't get PCOD a prevalent lifestyle disorder in females these days. She also emphasized on the importance of hygiene during menstruation. The girls were later distributed sanitary napkins by the lady volunteers.

TGBL, Bangalore office volunteers visited bear rescue center in Bannerghatta national park. The Bannerghatta Bear Rescue Centre has been instrumental by Wildlife SOS in rescuing and providing a life-time care for over a hundred Sloth Bears rescued from the Dancing Bear trade, poaching, ill-kept zoos and Human-Bear conflict situations. During this visit volunteers prepared food for the bears: assisting keepers in cutting fruits / loading / making enrichment treats and distributed this food to the bears.

Ginger Hotel Mumbai Andheri and Ginger HR Team arranged a skill training for 10 students from the Sarthak Institute. The Divyang Students were provided with training in Housekeeping and Food and Beverage Department of the hotel. The Students were very excited and many expressed interest to join hospitality for their careers. At end of the training refreshments were offered to all students.

Umaid Bhawan Palace recently organized a cleaning drive at Heritage lake, wherein each associate of the Palace took initiative for this drive as to make our lake ‘a clean lake’. A good team work and coordination was reflecting between all the department of the Palace. There were around 70 volunteers. All the garbage near the lake was collected and taken away and the nearby rocky area was cleaned with the help of broomsticks and cleaning equipment.

World water day was celebrated by increasing awareness of people towards the importance of water in various field of life including the environment, health, agriculture and trade. The message was spread in the team as well as Heritage colony where MHPL staff and families residing. CSR team visited and created awareness by speaking children, ladies and gents and emphasis save water whenever possible. Residents of Heritage colony appreciated this initiative and promised to follow the same.

On Shaheed Diwas, UBP Team visited GEO International (NGO) wherein 40 children get basic education. After basic education GEO helps them to get admission in government schools and sponsors their education as well as uniforms. UBP CSR team visited GEO and spent time with the children and showed videos of successful persons in the world. After the session, fruits were distributed to the children.

Five Volunteers of Rallis India, Lote unit arranged an awareness session on water and energy conservation through hydro power generation unit at Brahmanwadi, Songaon. Rallis has recently installed a hydro power generation unit at this village for the benefit of forty two families. They installed 30 street lights which are sufficient for their daily requirement. The generated water is utilized for their domestic purposes and farming purposes. The team briefly explained the benefit part of the power project.

Rallis Lote unit volunteers along with an English Literacy Development teacher organized a session at Nutan Vidyalaya, Lote for their 6th and 7th Standard students. In continuation of the English intervention classes, they conducted Bridge Course Test -2 for 45 students and received very good support from the students. They also covered an exercise on basic word formation, its meaning in Marathi, right pronunciation of words with its meaning.
 
  Indigenous flora nursery development Tata Chemicals  |  Mithapur
 
Mithapur township is a biodiversity hotspot with rich marinelife, flora, fauna and avi-fauna species. The sustained conservation efforts and environmental awareness programs over the years have helped strengthen the ecosystems and biodiversity base here. Much of this has happened through voluntary efforts. As part of this ongoing drive, TCL employees and family members volunteered for raising a nursery of indigenous flowering trees which helps sustain birdlife in the region. The team worked through the day at mixing soil, organic manure, cocopeat and rice husk. This mixture was filled in nursery bags and the same were arranged in nursery beds and sowing of Indian Coral Tree (Erythrina indica) and Desert Teak (Tecomella undulata), an IUCN Red-listed species was done. The saplings raised shall be planted by the volunteers in their garden, backyard and public park with an aim to provide sustenance and further strengthen the birdlife in Mithapur.

Gugal (Commiphora wightii) is a desert plant and has been classified as an endangered species. The plant can withstand long dry spells and is important ecologically as it provides refuge to birds and reptiles. Resin of this plant is highly sought after to produces drugs for controlling blood lipids. This species today stands threatened due to over-exploitation. Volunteers, family members and retired employees at TCL have been working for conservation of this species and a Gugal Plantation program was organised as part of the ongoing TVW-9 drive. Volunteers have also pledged support for care and maintenance of this plantation until it becomes self-sustaining.

A career counselling session was conducted for the students of Loyola School (Hindi Medium). The sessions were attended by approximately 250 students spread across Standard 8, 9 and 10. Faculty team from TCE included members from senior management, IT and finance services. The faculty spoke on the career options available to the students in varied fields of science, commerce, accounts, engineering, medical studies, IT. The faculty engaged actively with the students and there were numerous queries from the young audience. The volunteers tried to raise awareness and understanding among students about the importance of a career, the key influences on their decisions, why their own interests matter in career choices, and what the basic steps are to plan for a career.

Safety department in coordination with OHC, Base Hospital, Sushila Tiwari Hospital and CSR team organised a blood donation camp on National Safety Month at OHC. Plant Head along with senior officials inaugurated the camp and motivated the donors for blood donation to save some one’s life in need of time. Diverse group of volunteers having active participation of girls voluntarily donated the blood for the noble cause. 139 unit of blood was donated on the single day having awareness impact for the same to more than 300 volunteers.

Team donated around 300KG of newspapers, scrap paper, magazines etc.

A total of 43 volunteers participated in the program and planted various types of trees. The team suggested the volunteers should visit the plantation site frequently and see how the plants are going. This practice will create a habit of planting more trees in the future.

A career counselling session was organized by the Team of Tata Strive, HR and CSR for the parents of the Tata Strive students enrolled under the training at Tata Strive Centre, a Skill Development Institute. The motive behind the session and parents meeting was to spread more awareness to the parents about the emerging trends of hospitality industry and the growth and development of their kids in the hospitality sector.

A ‘Cleaning Drive of the Munshi Ghat on the banks of holy rives Ganges at Varanasi was organized. The Munshi Ghat is an adjacent Ghat to the Dashashwamedh Ghat since the Puranic era where people still perform their religious rituals on daily basis as well as on special occasions. A team of 21 volunteers from the Taj Gateway Ganges Hotel, Varanasi cleaned and wash the Ghats thoroughly with the support of 4 volunteers from the Ganga Seva Nidhi, one of the partner NGOs in Varanasi. The Ghat-cleaning process began with a thorough sweeping of the Ghat while it reached to the end with a complete collection of the waste material and garbage after washing the entire Ghat-premises from top to the last ladder by a pressure water pump.

The estate organized an ‘Eye Screening Camp’ at the Creche House in collaboration with Mal super specialist Hospital. The camp was attended by 51 patients from within the estate and nearby villages. Six cases were selected for cataract operation at Mal super specialist hospital.
