A cleanliness drive was conducted at the PWD road behind the Taj Gateway Hotel Ganges. All the arrangement for the cleaning drive was done by the Human Resources Department along other executives. Waste materials, garbage, used plastic items, broken glasses, rotten leaves, dead grass, used flower garlands thrown on the road were removed by a team of 25 volunteers from the Hotel. The road was cleaned using hoes, brooms, coops, crates and garbage collection bags.

Doctor’s team of JUSCO and Purnima Netralaya were involved in this initiative and over all 60 members of Baldeo Basti are provided with general health check-up and 46 members for eye check-up. After the eye-check 13 patients were referred for cataract surgery, retina check-up and spectacles to Purnima Netralaya, Tamulia.

"Climate Change - Lets make a change" is the theme that volunteers at Tata Chemicals, Mithapur, have selected for organising programs during TVW-9. One of the good ways to mitigate Climate Change impact is to encourage use of local produce and to switch over to organics. In line with this concept, a drive for production of organic manure has been started and volunteers helped in harvesting of manure from compost beds. The produce will be used for plantation jobs for sand dune stabilization along the Mithapur coast.

Seed-ball production programs were organised at Tata Chemicals, Mithapur, during the weekend with an aim to help greening of wastelands and wilderness areas in and around Mithapur. Employees and family members volunteered for sieving and mixing organic manure and garden soil for making of earth balls which were impregnated with seeds of native flora species like Babul, Tamarind, Piloo etc. These indigenous flora species support rich insect and bird life. The seed-balls produced shall be broadcast along road sides, wastelands and wilderness areas during the coming monsoon season with involvement of rural students and youth so that the local communities too can be sensitized on conservation of native species.

A group of 12 volunteers of Tata Sponge visited the tribal village of Balita, in Joda block of Keonjhar district in Odisha. The village constitutes inhabitants of Munda tribe. An awareness program focused on village ladies was organized on “Model Anganwadi Center” constructed by Tata Sponge for promotion of preschool education. Women SHGs, ASHA and AWWs participated in the discussion covering education, water & sanitation issues, hygiene practices, gender equality, tribal rich cultural aspects, protection of environment, ban of alcoholism, etc. with an objective for creation of a Model Tribal village. the program was highly appreciated by the local community.
