The volunteers painted Amlokhi Bonua L.P.School of Diffloo Tea Estate. The school children were very excited to see their school being painted. The participants distributed toffees to all the school children after the painting activity.

TCE organized a story telling session for the kids of Navjeevan Prathamik School in Thane. The school provides free education to kids living on the streets with little or limited access to education, food and basic hygiene facilities. Volunteers from Tata Communications spent quality time with students associated with Tata Strive Skill Development Center in Mumbai & Pune and helped them drive their professional growth through one-on-one coaching on resume designing and interview skills. Additionally, volunteers from Mumbai mentored a group of differently abled students from Sarthak. The energy and zeal of these students to learn was amazing and worth appreciating. These one on one interactive sessions saw volunteers from various departments, leadership forum and Tata Communications board of directors.

Tata Communications witnessed one of the most historical moments in Pune when 600 employees and 80 women beneficiaries from Idea Foundation gathered at the Dighi campus to run together for DRIVEathon, a first of its kind marathon in Tata Communications. The run was conducted to support the cause of “Women Empowerment” through project “Umang”, an affirmative action initiative to augment the earning potentials of women through skill development training and entrepreneurship development programs. Volunteers jointly covered 3670 kms in the 5 km and 10 km categories in this historic run.

A team of Tata Coffee visited Government ZPH school Brahmanpally village to conduct an awareness amongst the students of 10th & 9th Standard on computer learning. Subsequently they shared the material of Ms-Office basics with all the participants and clarified doubts. Volunteers spent time with students and explained the way forward and Govt. schemes available to learn computer with minimum investment in their village.

Volunteers from Paint shop visited village Rajdoha where an awareness session on cleanliness was organized for Self Help Group women from the village. The importance of toilet use, hand wash and hygiene among women was discussed. Women from village agreed to disinfect their water sources by using bleaching powder and team CSR provided them bleaching powder.

The volunteers conducted a hands-on session for students on creation of pivot tables. Volunteers demonstrated the basics of excel commands, charts, excel ribbon features, file and conversion features of file into different formats, explaining the need of pivot table and its features and live creation/demonstration of pivot chart using student’s information. They also conducted a session on motivation and diverse ways and principals to achieve success in life.

Over 160 volunteers donated blood during the blood donation camp organized at the Tata BSS office. The camp was organized by CM Hospital Blood Bank. The donated blood will be used for patient who come in the hospital’s emergency wings.

Tata BSS volunteers joined in the Cyclathon arranged in Pune by LOKBIRADARI PRAKAL with their friends & family. The aim for the cyclathon was spread awareness about “Save the rivers”. Some of them completed 12 km of cycling and said that it was a wonderful experience to contribute towards the noble cause.

Tata Blackwood Hodge visited Larche Zimbabwe, a home within our community. The home caters for children with intellectual disabilities. The team shared duties of cleaning the place, some did laundry and washing of blankets. Some helped in gardening, welding and chopping of firewood. Afterwards the team had lunch with the kids and presented a few groceries.

Tata Technologies volunteers organized a road safety awareness drive at Pune Mankar Chowk signal with flex banners and posters with safety messages written on them. Other volunteers waited at zebra crossing to request riders to wear safety helmets, to wear seat belts and follow traffic rules. This drive was conducted with a big support of Pune traffic Police department and PI officers.

TCL volunteers organised a "Nutrition Awareness" program at Girls' School at Arambda village near Mithapur. Nutrition deficiency and anaemia are common in rural areas and more so in case of the girls. The purpose of the program was to create awareness on balanced diet and sensitize the rural girl students on their food habits. A film on healthy food pyramid was screened and the volunteers organised games and power point presentation for educating the students on nutritional values of different food types. A painting competition on "Nutrition" theme was also organised and winners were awarded prizes.

TCL volunteers and family members visited the residential schools at Gadechi and Vachhu villages near Mithapur during the weekend and spent time with the rural students. They organised games, garba dance for the students and shared homemade snacks with them. Talks on achievement motivation were also conducted.

A team of Taj Exotica Maldives visited a local island named Maafushi Island in Maldives to clean the island. This an island where many tourists visit on their vacation and hence it's very important to keep the beaches clean. With the help of local island councillor, the associates formed different teams and cleaned the beaches, collected the garbage, and ensured the beaches regain its beauty to attract the tourist.

F&A, Real Estate and EPC dept. volunteers organized a Swachh Awareness Session at U.M.S Hathiyadih and Uperbera, Ghamaria. They also organized essay, drawing and slogans competition for the students and winners were distributed prizes. The volunteers spoke about the Swachh Bharat Campaign and at the end all pledged together to contribute to fulfill Mahatma Gandhi's vision of "Clean India". All the children participated enthusiastically in all activities like bucket the ball, musical chair etc. and at the end gifts were given to the winners. The team also distributed crayons, stationary, sweets, biscuits and thus spent some quality time with these children.

The team also spent some quality time with these kids singing rhymes.

The team of doctors examined the students and gave necessary medicines, ointments and vitamins, calcium, iron, supplements. The students were very excited to witness all the magic tricks and illusions the magician hid up his sleeves. More than 32 units of blood were collected from the volunteer’s blood donation camp which was conducted at Vivanta by Taj Surya, Coimbatore Around 15 Blood bank technicians and officials from Governmental General Hospital, Coimbatore were working for this camp. At the end of the Camp, all donors were awarded a certificate by the Medical officer.

The volunteers played a match of cricket as they were informed that kids love cricket and they go to state run academy of cricket. The volunteers gifted them a cricket kit, some story books and colouring books, crayons and shared evening snacks with them.

11 volunteers along with Gujarat Geography Head visited a Navrachit school in Gujarat. This school operates from a small trailer for nearby slum children. The volunteers spent time with the kids, spoke to them on different topics and distributed gifts.
 
  Protecting biodiversity Tata Chemicals  |  Mithapur
 
Congress grass is an exotic weed which is not browsed by domestic or wild herbivores. It spreads fast at the cost of native grasses and herbaceous flora and is detrimental to the local biodiversity. Congress Grass was detected in Mithapur during ecosystem monitoring exercise by volunteers and this could pose a risk to the thriving biodiversity in the Mithapur region. A program to eradicate the same was organised to stem the spread of this exotic weed. TCL employees, family members, retired employees and apprentice trainees joined the drive which will continue in the forthcoming week.
