  Financial advice & Hygiene session for hawkers Indian Hotels  |  Gurgaon
 
A team of volunteers from Vivanta by Taj – Gurgaon, NCR visited the neighbouring hawkers to commemorate their efforts in their daily struggle of earning livelihood for their families. The volunteering activity started with inviting the hawkers at the hotel premises followed by Hygiene session, financial advice & safety tips with some delicious snacks & tea. All of them enjoyed the snacks prepared by the hotel chefs. The activity turned out to be an informative session for the hawkers & they had an amazing experience.
 
  Cleaning and painting a school Amalgamated Plantations  |  Assam
 
The volunteers conducted a cleanliness drive in a school campus at Rangapara Lower Primary School located near the Thakurbari Railway gate near Rangapara town. The also did the white washing of the security wall and painted the entrance gate & porch. The volunteers painted the school building plinth. A live demonstration of hand wash procedure was given to the students of the school by the estate medical team. In the end, they planted trees in the school campus.

Vivanta by Taj –Surajkund, NCR organised a cleaning drive with a motive of ‘No to plastic’. The periphery of the hotel was cleaned with help of brooms, broom and dustpan, garbage bag, gloves and mask. Employees from various departments moved to the periphery for cleaning. All participated with full enthusiasm in cleaning the surrounding. Plastic and glass bags, bottles, packets etc. were collected.

Vivanta by Taj-Surajkund, NCR went on a cleaning drive at the Surajkund Mela Ground. The team members from different departments joined together for this initiative. All started off cleaning the road and ground with brooms, dust pan and garbage bag and picked up litter.

Vivanta by Taj-Surajkund, NCR spent time at an orphanage called Karam Marg. The team members from different departments joined in and took an initiative to educate the children indifferent areas. The security team trained the girls in self-defence, the chefs made all aware about importance of hygiene, the engineering educated about our environment; housekeeping gave awareness about importance of cleanliness, which was followed by quiz on hygiene, women safety, environment and sports. After this the children presented their talent like dancing, singing, poem recitation etc. Followed by all these activities our volunteers did a cleaning drive at the NGOs premises.

In order to go green and give something back to the environment, Vivanta by Taj- Surajkund took an initiative to plant the saplings. Different types of plants were planted in the hotel’s lawn. Team members of different departments joined in at the lawn, they all dug a pit to plant, planted a sapling and watered them properly. They took a pledge to keep the environment healthy and keep planting.

Vivanta by Taj-Surajkund, NCR visited a primary school named “Rajkiya Prathamik Pathshala”. Time was spent with children educating them the importance of cleanliness and hygiene. Snacks and juices where provided to them. A cleaning drive was conducted around the school to make it a cleaner and hygienic place. An initiative to get the school white washed was done. All the volunteers participated in both cleaning and white washing the school.

Tata Toyo Radiator Ltd., Hinjawadi, Pune plant organised a blood donation camp. Regional Blood Bank of Sassoon General Hospital set up their camp in the plant for the entire day and employees volunteered to donate blood.

Rallis India Lote Unit arranged a cleaning and housekeeping programme at Z P School, Brahminwadi, Songaon. All the students and our volunteers actively participated in cleaning the class rooms, staff rooms, bathrooms, school premises etc. they also cleaned premises of nearby temple with the help of this team.
 
  Awareness session on hydro power generation plant Rallis India  |  Lote
 
The volunteers arranged an awareness session on Hydro Power Generation Project and its benefit to the villagers of Brahminwadi of Songaon. A group of 8 volunteers along with our consultant conducted the session with villagers. They explained them about hydro power generation and thereby installing street lights at their village. They also explained the importance of water conservation and usage of stored water for various vegetable farming purpose in their paddy field.
 
  Health and hygiene awareness session for children Indian Hotels  |  Hyderabad
 
The teams from Taj Krishna, Taj Deccan & Taj Banjara visited the Vivekananda School and conducted a hygiene awareness session with the children. These children are from economically disadvantaged backgrounds where in their parents are home workers, auto drivers, labourer etc. The Vivekananda School trust is educating these children free of cost, through the support of various organisations. The volunteers organised a small awareness session with them on how to stay hygienic, what is the importance of being clean and also distributed them hand wash liquid. Also, in the end the kids were distributed sandwiches, muffins and they also have cut a cake. The kids were extremely excited by the session and specially the goodies that they got. All the volunteers were extremely excited to be a part of this initiative and especially to spend time with these beautiful kids.
 
  Women’s meet in villages Tata Chemicals  |  TamilNadu
 
Tata Chemicals in partnership with The Covenant Centre for Development organized Women’s Meet in two villages of Sriperumbudur. During the programs there was participation of more than 200 women. During the meet there were sessions to sensitize women to increase their participation in political and social issues of the community. The women were made aware of 3 essential independencies that women should strive to achieve in order to move towards empowerment. These independencies are 1. Education – freedom to study 2. Economic – freedom to access of money and 3. Decision making – freedom of thought. The women also participated in various other programs like rangoli, singing, elocution, throw ball, memory games, save your balloon, eating banana, bread etc. The winners of various competitions were awarded with prizes. TCL also recognized some of the women beneficiaries of CSR programs who are now self-employed, teachers and volunteers who are contributing as change agents.

Team Gateway Agra contributed by cleaning and up keeping peripheral area of Agra Fort. The volunteers from across departments willingly joined hands and volunteered for the purpose in mind. 30 Associates took part in this Drive. The team cleaned up the entire main road area around the fort. Additionally, the Volunteers educated people from the local community on the importance of a clean and hygienic surrounding.

  Inauguration of Vocational Training Centre Tata Power Delhi Distribution  |  Delhi
 
Tata Power-DDL inaugurated its 18th Vocational Training cum Tutorial Center at Inderlok, New Delhi. The center was inaugurated by the CEO & MD-Tata Power-DDL. This center is in association with NGO-Sofia Educational & Welfare Society and shall cater to 400 beneficiaries annually through Computer Training, Stitching and Tutorial classes. The inauguration program was facilitated by 25 TPDDL employees including the senior management team. Women Literacy Program beneficiaries along with other NGO partners were also present during the ceremony.

Learning & Development Group organized a session at vocational training centre – CSA Colony, Shakti Nagar. Theme for the session was “Unnati ki Ore” which covered topics like self-motivation, building self-confidence, communication and interview skills, the combination of which made the session more useful and valuable for the students in respect of learning and enriching their knowledge.
 
  Blood Donation Camp Tata Power Delhi Distribution  |  Delhi
 
Tata Power - DDL, in association with Indian Red Cross Society, organized blood donation camp at UP Samaj, Pitampura, New Delhi. The camp had a registration of 71 motivated and enthusiastic employees of which 56 units of blood was collected. TPDDL is a corporate donor of Indian Red Cross Society and have been recognized regularly for the contributions made by the employee volunteers in saving lives in distress.
 
  Visit to an old age home Tata Steel Processing and Distribution  |  Kolkata
 
A team of volunteers from Tata Steel Processing and Distribution Ltd. (TSPDL) visited Tollygunge Homes, an old age home situated at Tollygunge, Kolkata. The program began with all the volunteers spending quality time with each of the inmates, sharing thoughts and feelings. In the first half of the program various fun games were organised for the inmates which mainly included passing the parcel, one minute games, capturing the city etc. All the residents participated enthusiastically and many of them won exciting prizes. TSPDL volunteers also organised lunch for the inmates. After lunch, the most popular game Housie was organized for the inmates. There were exciting prizes to the winners. The program was also attended by MD, TSPDL who played guitar and sang for the inmates. All the inmates enjoyed a lot and many talented inmates, despite their age, participated in singing and dancing, which made the whole environment lively.
 
  Visit to a shelter home Indian Hotels  |  Lucknow
 
The kitchen team of Vivanta by Taj-Gomtinagar Lucknow taught how to make snacks to the state juvenile girl’s shelter home. The girls participate in cooking sessions as a part of their daily schedule hence they volunteered to teach them snacks which can be made easily. The team taught them to make chilli paneer and vegetable cutlets. There were around 40 girls who learnt how to cook these snacks. VBT- Lucknow collaborated with NGO- Kidmat which works with juvenile homes and state run orphanages. The executive chef explained them step by step the recipes. The girls were very excited to learn the snacks and requested if ice-cream or kulfi can be taught for the next session.

Tata Power - DDL, in association with NGOs – Virmani, Sahyog & Prayas conducted an awareness session for the women residing in the communities of North & North-West Delhi. The aim of the session was to empower them by raising their awareness on: Importance of good health, education & employability. 41 women form Bawana and 23 women from Narela attended the session, along with 03 volunteers.

A training on personality development- grooming, hygiene and body language was taken by the HR manager of VBT- Lucknow. The training was taken at a village near Lucknow- Barabanki at the state polytechnic institute. The students comprised of technical and marketing attended the same. The training was organised through an NGO- Medha which works with rural and urban youth in preparing them for employment. Around 70 students attended this program which was a mix of lecture, role play and presentation.

A group of 32 employees visited the school with lots of energy. 120 children from class 3rd to 7th were told about the importance of general personal hygiene & what are don’ts & do's which needs to be followed. The children were found earnestly listening & grasping the class. Employees from the hotel also revisited their school days through refreshing their memories.

Around 120 children & Teachers were served with evening snacks & beverages as a part of the volunteering activity. Many of the children are from disadvantaged communities and skip meals many of the days as informed by the facilities. It was a very fulfilling activity. Sports gears were also donated for the children.

The hotel team took part in the cultural activity & performed dances for the children. Many students also took part in the various dancing performances. Girl children were gifted makeup. Later along with the children and the staff members, volunteers had fun games & further played cricket, football & badminton.
 
  Cleanliness drive Indian Hotels  |  Hyderabad
 
Team Taj Deccan Hyderabad took forward the Clean India campaign to keep our environment clean. Cleanliness drive by all employees wearing hand gloves and mask was done at the periphery of the Hotel covering 1 km area on both the sides of hotel boundary. Taj Deccan Hyderabad does monthly scheduled cleaning around the periphery of the hotel and Roads approaching to the hotel. Equipped with brooms and garbage bags, Team Taj Deccan was divided into groups to begin the cleanliness drive. At the end of the activity, team members ensured that the area had a complete face lift. On a daily basis, the hotel has dedicated attendants to sweep the designated area as well as gardeners to maintain the flora around the premises. After serving and delighting guests with personalized service, team felt happy in contributing their small bit to the community and environment. It makes us proud as we are contributing to a bigger cause and that is - creating awareness amongst people.

Team Taj Deccan organized sale of NGO products by Nirmaan organization. Nirmaan is an NGO which supports and the helps the less privileged people in the society by developing them to sustain on their own. Their products include handmade purses, pouches, hand bags, laptop bags, etc. The sale of the products was organized at the hotel premises. Many associates purchased products to support the NGO in their own way.
 
  Environment Awareness Session Tata Chemicals  |  Babrala
 
An Environment Awareness Session was conducted by EMC - department for 45 students of surroundings villages. The Theme of the program was “Water and Waste Water.” Volunteers from EMC Department conducted the session and made the participants aware on “Source of Water, Reason of Water Pollution, how we Preserve Water” accompanied with group exercises and General Knowledge session.

Volunteers decided to start the day with a noble deed by visiting the residents of the Old Age Home at Baradwari. The team members served meals to all the residents there and also donated old clothes to them. The residents were very content and happy spending time with all the team members.

Volunteers from JUSCO enthusiastically joined hands to visit Shishu Bhawan at Baradwari. They spent almost half a day with the infants and children there and distributed colorful soft toys, woollen clothes, baby kits and packets of baby food to all of them. The team spent quality time with all the children which left unforgettable memories for all.

A green initiative was taken by volunteers of JUSCO at the KPO site. Our team along with the workers planted seasonal fruit trees to beautify the surroundings. Thereafter, the team also spread the message of ‘Save the Environment’ and made aware the workers on how they can make their surrounding areas a greener place. Volunteers took a green initiative at Kadma Housing near the Rain Water Harvesting Plant where the spread the message of ‘Clean Jamshedpur Green Jamshedpur’. The team members planted 100 saplings of various seasonal flowers and fruits in the surrounding areas and made an effort to save the environment and make it a greener place.

Tata Power DDL organized Community Reach Out Program (CROP) to disseminate awareness in the community about its various CSR initiatives like Vocational Training, Women Literacy Program, Mobile Dispensary services and Drug De-addiction camps at 06 districts spread across North & North West Delhi. During the program Tata Power DDL employees & ABHA members (brand ambassadors) visited households, briefed them about various CSR initiatives and sensitized them to take benefit of the programs besides capturing their personal details & short feedback. The survey aimed to capture first hand info about the needs & requirements of communities. Accordingly steps will be taken to meet the expectations & necessities of the communities. Over 950 households were sensitized by team of 265 volunteers simultaneously at 06 locations during the program.

Volunteers from JUSCO joined hands to visit the Cheshire Home at KPO and spent a lot of time with the intellectually challenged individuals there. The team gave away essentials like rice, sugar, toiletries, biscuit packets and daily essentials for them. Volunteers wholeheartedly sang and danced with them which made this the best part of their day.

Volunteers of Rallis India Lote Unit conducted a Speech Competition on Water & Energy Saving and Road safety at Z P School -1, Ghanekunt, Lote. A total of 20 students were participated from Std. 1 to 5. The volunteers motivated them by telling them about the importance of water & energy saving and following Road and Traffic Rules in day to day life. In the end of the session Tiffin Boxes were distributed to all the students.

Team Ginger Mysore created an awareness program related to road safety. 27 Volunteers from Ginger Mysore took a rally of 5 KM. During this awareness program they educated the common people about road safety. They also educated Auto Drivers regarding the usefulness of road safety. They undertook a rally from the hotel to KR CIRCLE & back to hotel. On the way they educated bikers to wear helmets.

Looking at Bhubaneshwar temperature at 38 degree Celsius and outside high humidity, Ginger hotel, Bhubaneswar undertook an initiative to serve fresh lime water to all the people traveling on the road. 15 volunteers from the hotel participated in the same activity in Jaidev Vihar Road. Many people appreciated the volunteers for this initiative.

A team of 40 volunteers from Tata Motors- Pune visited Shikshangram which provides education to homeless children. They interacted with the children and organized a singing competition. They also emphasized on the importance of exercise and personality development. The volunteers distributed sweets and gifted sports equipment.

In order to emphasis for creating equal opportunity under Tata Power-DDL Affirmative Action Scholarship program, needy SC/ST students from different government educational Institutions are supported by providing scholarship in terms of financial assistance to meet their annual tuition fees since 2007. In the same endeavour and direction, 69 students from Delhi Technological University, IP University and University of Delhi colleges and 59 students from Kasturba Institute of Technology, Aryabhatt Institute of Technology and Pusa Institute of Technology were awarded scholarships in an event held at Gulabi Bagh Auditorium and Cencare respectively. The event was graced by CEO & MD, Senior Management Team, Principals & Faculties of respective Institutes and parents of supporting students. In another event, 47 students from University of Delhi Colleges and Industrial Training Institute, Jahangirpuri and 79 students from Sir CV Raman Industrial Training Institute, Dheerpur were awarded scholarship cheques in an event held at Corporate Office and District Office, Model Town respectively. The fifth event witnessed 66 students from Industrial Training Institute, Narela being awarded scholarships at District Office, Narela. In the sixth event, 81 students from Guru Nanak Dev Institutes of Technology were awarded scholarship Cheque in an event held at Gulabi Bagh Auditorium.

A team of Corp F&A, CFO Office, taxation and payroll group made a visit to child home – PALNA. The group spent time with the children and distributed goodie boxes to all. Various games were played and the smiles were spread. It was an enriching experience for the volunteers.

The associates and volunteers at VBT MG road came together to take part in the onboarding and induction process for the students of TATA Strive who were beginning their on the job training in the hotel. The students were taken through the session where they were spoken to by heads of departments and the Director of Human Resources and Learning and Development manager to help them understand what to expect from hotels and from their job. The students were also taken through the various opportunities which await them in the hotel and how they should make the most of them. The students were given an insight into the Taj ethos and culture and were welcomed into the family with great expectations.

Over 30 Tata BSS volunteers participated in the ‘rise safe, ride smart’ campaign over the weekend in Jamshedpur. They formed a Human Chain to create awareness on wearing helmet, traffic rules, vehicle safety etc. They also interacted with the people on roads and people waiting on the traffic signal. They met some very enthusiastic motorists who appreciated having the rules drawn in a chart and said they would teach the same to their children.

25 Tata BSS volunteers visited Autism Centre in Pune. They interacted with the children there and conducted various games and fun activities for them. The volunteers loved spending time with the kids and volunteering for a cause close to their heart.

A team of volunteers from R&D, SS and RTG JDC visited Primary School Raskadih Danga, which is their adopted school. The team interacted with the students and also interacted with the parents/guardians. They emphasised on the need of education and how an important role it plays in development of an individual. They also distributed some food stuffs, school stationary etc.

A team of seven volunteers visited Joda basti school and conducted medical check-up of all the students. Dental kit and general medicines were also provided to each student.

Employees of Administration department, Tata Steel, Noamundi, organised a mines visit programme for the students of Mangilal Rungta (10+2) school students, Chaibasa. A total of 95 girl students participated in this educational visit programme. The students visited mines, Sir Dorabji Tata Botanical Park, Rainwater Harvesting Park, Recreation club and other facilities of Noamundi Iron Mines.

Tata Power - DDL, organized a social awareness program at Midnapur, WB. The program started with the national song. Followed by knowledge sharing sessions on safety and energy consumption. A quick quiz competition held, where students showed a lot of enthusiasm in participation and were further encouraged by giving goodies on each correct answer. On progression of the program, stationery items were distributed.

An eye test and blood group identification camp was organised at Rajakiyakruta ME School, Noamundi, Jharkhand, for the school students under Tata volunteerism programme. A total of 141 students availed the facility. Three students were found to have eye problem those will undergo further investigation at Noamundi hospital of the Company.

Volunteers from JUSCO took the Swachch initiative at KPO. The team used mapping and fogging techniques to curb dengue and took necessary measures like cleaning the surrounding areas, removing water in stored containers and filing in fresh water to avoid breeding of mosquitoes.

Volunteers from JUSCO organized a medical camp for the vendor employees and their family members which included a general health check-up for all. The doctors at the medical camp gave tetvac doses to all to prevent them from being affected by tetanus. The team also spread awareness on general health and hygiene.

Volunteers from JUSCO conducted a Swachch Abhyan at Dumahni Ghat where the team cleaned the surrounding areas and also cleared waste and dirt from the riverside to curb water pollution. The team members also spread awareness among residents on how to control water pollution.

As part of Tata volunteering week-7, Company Secretary along with the Risk Management Group made a visit to orphanage & old age home – Nirmal Hriday. The group contributed staple food items for the residents. It was a heartening experience for the volunteers.

Volunteers from JUSCO organized a sports activity for the children at Baramari. All the children along with the volunteers participated enthusiastically in the volley ball match arranged for them. The team also distributed educational kits, biscuit packets, beverages and goodies, different kinds of sports material to all the children. The activity ended on a happy note where the employees wholeheartedly interacted with the children.

Tata Power - DDL, in association with Prajapita Brahm Kumari’s organized drug de-addiction camp for the needy ones at Todapur, Lal Bagh, Rohini Sector-11 and Shahbad Dairy in North Delhi. Organizing team with help from employee volunteers made home visits to the residents of the clusters motivating them to attend the camp and avail benefits from it.

Volunteers from JUSCO joined hands to spend almost half a day with the children of the aanganwadi at Chirugoda. The team distributed educational kits, sports material goodies and colourful slippers to all the children there. Moreover, games were also organized which the children enjoyed fully.

‘Navras’ Cultural Club, ‘Abhivyakti’ Cultural Club, Prathit’ Cultural Club and ‘Abbhuday’ Cultural Club of Tata Power-DDL organized Walkathons for sensitizing common masses on the theme of Energy Conservation & Water Conservation. Many TPDDL & business associate employees participated in Walkathon carrying placards on the said themes & its importance. The volunteers visited residential areas of Shakti Nagar.
