  Painting an activity centre Tata Sons  |  Mumbai
 
Senior leaders along with 25 volunteers painted an activity centre for OSCAR Foundation. Volunteers picked up painting brushes and their favourite colours to let their imagination run wild on the walls. A Tata STRIVE youth and other volunteers first sketched on the walls and then painted them. They spent three hours tirelessly painting beautiful characters and giving it life through colours. The OSCAR children were very happy to see their centre and interacted with the volunteers.
 
  Interaction with progressive lady farmers Tata Motors  |  Jamshedpur
 
Senior collegues from tata Motors and TML drivelines interacted with progressive lady farmers at Rajdoha village. Rajdoha is one of the seven villages taken under the fold of 'TML Lab to Land' programme through which expertise of Flora Horticulture Society (FHS) on horticulture and allied practices is extended to farmers with hand holding support of Employee Volunteers from Central Maintenance Division which has adopted the village with CSR function as the interface. Trainings on mushroom cultivation, apiculture, fishery and rearing of fowls along with material inputs for agriculture and fruit plants are being provided to the farmers for augmenting their income levels by enlarging the livelihood opportunities at the villages. The village ladies gave a warm and traditional welcome to the Employee Volunteers. The volunteers saw the mushroom cultivation, apiculture and horticulture practices adopted by the lady farmers and encouraged them to continue. They gifted Rhode Island Red (RIR) and quail fowls to the farmers. They explained the economic benefits of back yard fowls like RIR and the need for creating separate enclosures for the quails. The interactions were lively which made the villagers very happy.
 
  Cleanliness drive at a beach Voltas  |  Singapore
 
15 volunteers participated in a beach cleanup activity. They contacted the National Environmental Agency in Singapore to seek their concurrence to partake in the Beach Clean-up activity and this time around they allocated the Pasir Ris Beach. Whilst Singapore is known for its cleanliness and the beaches were indeed quite clean, however after tirelessly working our volunteers were still able to further clean the beaches and surrounding areas, by removing small items, such as cigarette butts, styrofoam boxes, empty plastic bottles and general waste. One of the volunteers also happened to come across a bird which appeared to be dehydrated and he helped it by giving it some water, which the bird heartily drank and thereafter we placed it in an opening in the tree. The volunteers spent quality time on beach and were able to infuse awareness among the community to use dustbins to throw their waste and importance of cleanliness.
 
  Blood donation camp Tata Motors  |  Lucknow
 
Samaj Vikas Kendra, Lucknow and Voluntary Blood Donors Society, Lucknow (formed by employees of TATA Motor’s Ltd.), in partnership with Blood Bank, Ram Manohar Lohiya Hospital, Lucknow organized a Blood Donation Camp at Tata Motors Premises, Lucknow. 225 employees volunteered to donate blood and collected a total of 185 units. The volunteers were felicitated with a memento and a certificate.

Ginger East Delhi Team organized a Bird Feeding activity. A total of 12 volunteers participated to nourish the birds with water and grain.
 
  Tree plantation drive Indian Hotels  |  Hyderabad
 
The volunteers conducted a tree plantation drive with the female colleagues. This drive also coincided with the Earth Hour day. There is an in house nursery in the hotel and that area was cleaned by the gardening team. The volunteers decided to increase the number of plants in the area, both for beautification of the premises and also to increase the flow of fresh air.
 
  Visit to an ashram Tata Metaliks  |  Kharagpur
 
Twenty employees of Tata Metaliks visited Nivedita Gram Karma Kendra, a ashram for girls from 0-18 years of age. They arrange for food, shelter and education including skill development initiative like hand weaving, mushroom production, computer skills, etc. Employees shared moral stories, motivated them to study and distributed chocolates, cake, fruits and toys to all the girls. Employees contributed to purchase this material for the children.

A team of volunteers from Taj Krishna, Hyderabad geared up to nurture the youth of Hyderabad by taking various sessions covering wide range of topics. The L & D Manager from Taj Krishna conducted a session on Workplace Challenges & how to face them. The centre while sharing the topics had mentioned that the students will be facing job interviews in the coming weeks, and hence a session that would give them an understanding of the corporate life would help them to get ready to face the life that is coming ahead. The activity turned out to be an informative session for the young minds & they are all geared up to take up new roles.

  Celebrating birthdays of children Tata Consultancy Services  |  Hyderabad
 
60 individual associates made their contribution and made sure that they get the best gifts for the kids of THARA, a shelter home in Begumpet to celebrate their birthdays. Associates contributed not only just by getting a gift, but also by sharing their brilliant ideas. Sooner what would have been a normal gift distribution activity turned into a big birthday celebration. The volunteers had a great time playing games with the children.

Ginger Baroda team in association with Don Bosco Snehalaya, a home sheltering orphan children conducted a donation drive. The Ginger Baroda team went to the orphanage home and donated linens for the children.

18 Tata BSS Jamshedpur volunteers cleaned the space near Sakchi Police Station. The volunteers were very happy to make their surroundings clean for the residents and visitors. They were praised by the passerby’s too. The place looked markedly different after the volunteers were through cleaning the litters around.

A cleanliness drive was carried by a team of 17 volunteers of Ginger Faridabad. Cleaning was done around the hotel side road. Passersby were encouraging the activity & overall it was a good experience.

A team from CSD visited Tinplate Camp School Masti Ki Pathshala. The volunteers interacted with the students and distributed indoor and outdoor sports materials to the school. The team was given a warm welcome through a traditional song and morning prayer. The volunteer addressed the children with a motivational talk on the importance of studies, inculcation of healthy habits and societal values and engaging in sports.

24 volunteers planted trees on the hotel premises. Each of the members took an oath to contribute their best towards saving mother earth. Few fruit trees were given to the staff families to plant in their society premises.

17 employees participated in a cleanliness drive for a primary school. Employees of Tata Metaliks have been continuously driving this initiative for the past two years. Due this intervention, there is a drastic change in the behavior and cleanliness of school premises.

The MD of Tata Metaliks visited Loreto Rainbow Home at Shealda along with 25 volunteers & spent two hours with the girl students. He motivated and inspired the students to study further. A group of 13 volunteers marched towards a volunteering mission to Asha Daan, a home for the homeless, Byculla Mumbai. The children greeted the volunteers. Voltas sponsored, rice, dal, diapers, soaps, talcum powder, sugar, tea powder, biscuits, phenyl and washing powder. Sister in charge took them around the entire ward and the volunteers returned with a smile on their face.

Ten Volunteers of Rallis India Lote Unit conducted outdoor games at Z P School -2, Ghanekunt for their 5th, 6th & 7th standard students. 44 students participated in the games. The volunteers briefed them on the importance of sports and games in schools. Prizes were distributed to the winners of running and Langdi games.

A Team from Tata Motors PVBU, Pune visited, Vikas Anath Ashram, at Chikhali, Pune. The team spent quality time with the children. As per the need of ashram, the team donated three emergency lights, grocery, snacks and sweets to the children.

Ginger Guwahati Team along with Ahm undertook a drive of Soft Skill Development for the underprivileged students of JIS Institute. The volunteers made them aware about the knowledge of the hotel industry.
 
  Awareness of saving water Ginger Hotels  |  Mysore
 
Team Ginger Mysore visited few Kalyana Mandapam Tourists Homes at Mysore and met the managers. They briefed them about the importance of saving water & informed them to check the plumbing for leaks, including checking tank toilets for silent leaks, to wash full loads or dishes, to check cooling towers for overflow and excessive blow down, to increase employee awareness about using water wisely, and to install low-flow shower heads and faucets or faucet aerators. The team checked the taps at hand washing area and taps at toilet / bathrooms to arrest the water leakage. They also advised them to donate the leftover food to orphanages. By taking local police station permission, they also visited the residential & educated the people to save water. They informed them to turn the faucet/tap off while brushing the teeth, shaving, washing hands, doing dishes, and so on.
 
  Trip to Science City Tata Steel Processing and Distribution  |  Kolkata
 
TSPDL volunteers organised a trip to science city for children of Calcutta Rescue which is located at J.B.S Haldane Avenue, Kolkata. The program began with welcoming the children by volunteering team and distributing caps, chocolates, biscuits and water bottles to them. At first the children went to Maritime Centre which displayed interesting exhibits on maritime activity, replicas, and scaled models of boats, ships and sea going vessels. They also saw Aquarium, practical experience of science theories like wave motion, sound waves, gravity etc. After completing Maritime centre children were given lunch which was followed by Evolution theme park. In Evolution theme park children were taken on a ride where they saw the evolution of animals especially the extinct species. They saw many models of dinosaurs which was unique with moving limbs and roaring sound effects. It was really fun to move through it in dim light with real like effects. At the end of the program, children took the ride on road train which they enjoyed thoroughly.
 
  Nukkad Natak on ‘World Water Day’ JUSCO  |  Jamshedpur
 
Volunteers from JUSCO joined hands to celebrate ‘World Water Day’ and presented a Nukkad natak on ‘Save Water’. They spread the message of conservation of water through their natak and put special emphasis on the fact that without water there is no life on earth and hence we all should not use water carelessly. The team members also took a pledge to save water on this special day.
 
  Health check-up camp for women Tata Motors  |  Lucknow
 
Every year, Jan Parivar Kalyan Sansthan and Samaj Vikas Kendra (societies promoted by Tata Motors) celebrates Women’s Day along with village women by organising various kind of workshops related with women empowerment, health issues, hygiene, sanitation etc. This year again, the volunteers celebrated Women’s day with the female members of all the SHGs and vocational members of SVK. A Haemoglobin and Vision Test was conducted for them. 82 females were tested for haemoglobin.144 females sat for the vision test. Out of them 100 are advised to wear glasses which will be provided by JPKS free of cost. SHG women, ANM, ICDS Workers and helpers were also felicitated.

Volunteers from JUSCO organized a cleaning campaign at Baridih Basti, Baridih where the team spread awareness among residents regarding general health and hygiene and also enlightened them about the various preventive measures to be taken to curb diseases like malaria, dengue, etc. Moreover, the team also undertook a cleaning campaign in the surrounding area to make it a cleaner place.

Volunteers organized a road safety awareness campaign near the Beldih Club area where the team members distributed leaflets on road safety, traffic rules and general safety measures to be taken during emergencies. Volunteers also ensured a checking system where they checked whether vehicle drivers and bikers were complying with all the road safety rules or not.

A team from Engineering & Projects visited Shishu Bhawan and spent time with the children along with distributing milk powder for the children. They also interacted with the nuns.

Volunteers from JUSCO enthusiastically joined hands to visit Shishu Bhawan at Baradwari. They spent almost half a day with the infants and children there and distributed woollen clothes, baby kits and packets of baby food to all of them. The team spent quality time with all the children which left unforgettable memories for all.

A team of volunteers from Administration department, Tata Steel, Noamundi, organised a dental camp for the under privileged children of Care & Share school, Noamundi. The dentist conducted the camp and checked the dental health of 55 students. Out of them, 24 students were advised further treatment in Noamundi Hospital of Tata Steel Limited. On this occasion, the doctor also gave a talk on “How to take care of teeth” and tooth brush & tooth paste was given to every child to make it a practice to brush teeth every day.

Volunteers from JUSCO made a visit to the Cheshire Home at Sundarnangar and spent a lot of time with the differently abled residents there. The team gave away essentials like rice, sugar, toiletries, biscuit packets which were of utmost necessity for them. Volunteers wholeheartedly interacted with them which made this the best part of their day.

In an unique initiative , a workshop was organised by “Udaan Viklaang Workshop” in collaboration with Bhubaneshwar based “Shanta Rehabilitation Centre”, Commonwealth Foundation and TML Drivelines in the premises of JRD Tata Complex , Jamshedpur on ‘Rights Implementation for disabled women’. The motive was to give differently abled women participants a platform to discuss the various issues faced by them and to make them aware of their rights.The Chief Guest was the DSP of Jamshedpur . The event saw a footfall of around 45 participants from different parts of the state. The event started with an inspiring talk by the chief guest asking disabled women to voice their demands for equal rights .The participants discussed about various issues they face in their day to day lives. This included the problems and discrimination they face in acquiring education and job as well as in their families,in public places , at work etc. They then discussed various rights of disabled women under UN Convention , PWD Act etc . Various government schemes like pension for disabled women as well as anti-domestic violence laws were also discussed.

A road safety awareness drive was conducted by the team of Ginger Kochi with 11 volunteers at Infopark road, Kochi. The team provided road safety awareness to auto drivers, truck drivers, car drivers, bike riders and pedestrians.
 
  Cleanliness drive and awareness campaign against the ‘Plastic bag Plague’ Coastal Gujarat Power  |  Mundra
 
The volunteers from CGPL and the team from CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) joined hands for a massive cleanliness cum awareness on "No plastic bag campaign" to expalin why one should limit the consumption of plastic bags. To make this awareness more actionable it is always requires a joint efforts and mass communication which the volunteers from CGPL and CISF has accomplished collectively during the drive. They collected the plastic bags which are one of the top items of litter around the community beaches, roads, sidewalks, and vegetation. During the course of the campaign they also interacted with the Shop keepers and also briefed them that as the Plastic bags are light and hard to contain. Because of their light weight, plastic bags fly easily in wind, float along readily in the currents of rivers and oceans, get tangled up in trees, fences, poles, and so forth, and block the drainage, which further create a menace for the mankind. They appealed for proper disposal of the plastic waste and also for minimum usage of it. In the campaign higher official from CGPL and CISF unit has also participated which brought a great success in dissemination of awareness and importance of Health, hygiene and cleanliness of surrounding environment. The community praised the volunteers and promised for their all support in making the area clean and joining hands with the volunteers in such type of event in near future.
