TSPDL volunteers organised a day filled with fun and frolic for all the children of the SOS Children’s Village, at Salt Lake, Kolkata. The day began with small walk around & introduction of TSDPL volunteers with the villagers. After the introduction and a walk around the volunteers organised a tree plantation programme. In the afternoon Drawing competition for the children were conducted which was followed by gaming activities which included biscuit race amongst the little angels followed by Memory game, race and musical chair. All the children actively participated with full enthusiasm and zeal. Finally the day was concluded by distributing prizes to the winners followed up by distribution of gifts for all children of the village.

A team of Administration department, Tata Steel, Noamundi, organised a seminar on the topic “How to prepare for the examinations so as to avoid fear.” An educationist gave a lecture on the subject to 275 girl students.
 
  Awareness Drive on Village Sanitation Tata Sponge Iron  |  Odisha
 
Volunteers joined hand for an awareness drive conducted at Anganwadi Centre & Primary School at Kaliabeda village, Keonjhar, Odisha. The little children were educated about the personal hygiene and sanitation. Various health related issues were discussed with the teachers.

Ginger Hotel, Bhubaneswar team made 10, 000 paper bags in three days. Employees spent extra time to make theses paper bag after their working hours. All paper bags are distributed to all the shopkeepers in Indradhanu Market. It’s a very small quantity to cover entire market but the awareness messages were passed to the entire market. They also briefed all the snacks vendors, fruits & vegetables vendors in the market that not to use plastic bag by showing different posters which helped all of them to understand better.

The volunteers picked up the waste found around the area, swept the stretch across and also ensured that they passed on the message of cleanliness to all those who were present on the road stretch during the time. The entire initiative was about moving towards a cleaner & greener environment around.

5 volunteers visited a government school to play games with the young children. This activity was conducted in partnership with Toybank, an organisation that looks at holistic development of the children and engages them in games to develop their critical thinking skills. The volunteers relived their childhood memories and learnt many games while the children taught the rules to them.
 
  Fire safety awareness Ginger Hotels  |  Manesar
 
Fire Equipment Handling, Training and Evacuation drill awareness program was organised by Ginger Manesar Team and Real care Facility Management team for the General Public, Shopkeepers, Bankers, Employees and occupants of Raheja Mall in Manesar, Gurgaon. The Fire Officers educated the workers and general public on handling of fire equipment to have first-hand control on the fire incidents. Total 44 volunteers participated in the activity and around 80-100 workers and other people were benefited by the session.
 
  Anti-Littering Campaign Indian Hotels  |  Bangalore
 
This Tata Volunteering week the associates and volunteers at VBT MG road came together to campaign against a major neighbourhood issue in today’s time- Littering. The team got together and headed straight out to the neighbourhood vendors, hawkers and cobblers who have their own stalls and began giving them literacy and awareness about the importance of not littering. They were spoken to in their regional languages and were also told to spread the message to their customers to ensure that they attract more customers and less insects by maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene in their surroundings.

The team Taj along with senior management went to share their happiness with the senior citizens. Surprisingly they had more energy than the younger ones which was clearly perceptible in their dance. Antakshari was played as well where undoubtedly the loved elders won the race.

12 volunteers of Team Ginger, Jamshedpur cleaned one classroom at Andhra Bhakt Shreeram Mandiram High School, Bistupur - Jamshedpur. They cleaned the classroom, painted the wall, window & doors.

Team Taj Chandigarh undertook the task of painting and sustaining a Courtyard Shelter (Anganwadi Center) situated in a village called Dhanas (Chandigarh). The enthusiastic Team meticulously scrubbed the dirt off the walls and rooms and then commenced the painting exercise. Over a day and a half the Team painted all the corners of the school. The Team also donated stationary items to the students.

The volunteers of the hotel were given a task to make a dustbin from scrap and waste and get as creative as possible to make a dustbin that would stand out in public spaces. The volunteers triggered their creative instinct to make the best they could from waste and also made it look eye catching in their own way. The dustbins once made were planned to be given away to the neighbourhood hawkers and vendors who require their own dustbins to maintain the hygiene and cleanliness of the area.

41 donors took part in a blood donation drive. Later in the staff cafeteria during the day employees discussed their experience and how satisfied they felt after donating blood.
 
  Improving school infrastructure Tata Global Beverages  |  Kolkata
 
Tata Global Beverages packeting centres at Coalberth and Sonapur (Kolkata) carried out a volunteering activity at Shramik Vidyalaya, Coalberth, Kolkata by educating the children and improving the school infrastructure such as chairs, benches, water cooler and urinals. Children were also provided with shoes and socks.
 
  Cleanliness & Hygiene Awareness Ginger Hotels  |  Mysore
 
To make people more aware about cleanliness and hygiene, team Ginger Hotel Mysore visited Hudco Bannimantap area and provided information about proper hygiene, cleanliness and health. They spoke to kids and families, and briefed on how clean surroundings prevent diseases like dengue and malaria. The volunteers found the surrounding was dumped with plastic, waste clothes and disposable glasses. They cleaned the entire area.
 
  Energy Conservation Awareness Programme JUSCO   |  Jamshedpur
 
Volunteers from JUSCO organized ‘Energy Conservation Awareness Programme’ for the residents of Balighuma, Gamharia. The team enlightened them on the importance of power and electricity in our daily lives and how one should take proper measures to save power and electricity. Moreover, the team also distributed LED bulbs to all the residents to start off as the first step towards conservation of energy.

To accelerate the efforts to achieve cleanliness covered In & around Noida Sector 63 & to put focus on sanitation, the volunteers took the responsibility to clean the connecting road Front from Hotel, followed by cleaning of tunnel to get ready before the monsoon. The mission would continue & would cover three more road front cleaning, while making everyone aware & improving the level of cleanliness.
 
  Saving our planet-Awareness Walk Indian Hotels  |  Bangalore
 
The associates and volunteers at VBT MG road took a step forward to pass on a message that the once garden city of the country has now forgotten. The message of “keeping the city clean and green” was spread by the associates by organizing a walkathon where the entire team came together and walked along the stretch of MG Road shouting out slogans, holding placards and spreading the word to all passersby. The awareness walk sure witnessed a lot of curious eyes and comments and also made many join into spread the message. The walk garnered enough attention to stop traffic and have people read the messages on the placards and reflect on what the garden city has become today.

The volunteers of TSPDL went to SOS Children’s village and organised a fun and entertainment program for the women of SOS village. The program mainly included one minute games, singing songs, antakshari and musical chair. All the women of the village participated in the program with full enthusiasm. At last the program was concluded by distribution of prizes to the winners followed by the distribution of small goodies to all the women.

The volunteers visited B-Able skill certification center where 45 students belong to the rural area being trained in F&B, Front Office and Housekeeping operations for three months. The volunteers discussed opportunities of employment in the service industries and how to develop their talents.

Volunteers visited the students of SS High School to distribute sports equipment to them. The team gave away skipping ropes, volley balls, tennis ball, hurdle stands to encourage these special children to play all kinds of sports and games. Volunteers also spent quality time with the children.

A Health and hygiene awareness session was organised by Rallis India Limited Ankleshwar Unit in Nirmal Miryam Primary School. The session gave highlights on importance of personal health and hygiene. Volunteers also gave insights on skin diseases and other common disease occurring in due to lack of personal care and hygiene.

Volunteers organized an awareness session on ‘Waste Management’ for the principals and teachers of various government and private schools and colleges to enlighten them on this topic. The team also planned a site visit to the following locations- Bara land field, Dry waste centre Ramdasbhatta, Makdum land field, where waste management is practiced to give them an idea of the procedures. This awareness session was organized so that this message is spread across all educational institutions and organizations for the practice of zero waste.

Tata BSS Lodha Thane centre organized a blood donation camp. It witnessed inflow of over 85 enthusiastic volunteers. Due to varied health precautions only 76 volunteers were found eligible to donate blood. They appreciated the Company’s efforts in organizing the camp in-house saying it saved them a lot of time & energy.
 
  Essay writing Competition at SN High School JUSCO  |  Jamshedpur
 
Volunteers from JUSCO organized an essay competition for the students of SN High School. Students participated in full spirit for this competition. Girls were given the topic ‘International Women’s Day’ and boys were given a topic on ‘Drug Abuse’. The team also conducted a health and hygiene awareness programme for girls.
 
  English Grammar Sessions Rallis India  |  Ankleshwar
 
As part of volunteering activity, a volunteer from Rallis India Limited - Ankleshwar Unit takes English Grammar Classes in Gadkhol Primary School. As per the syllabus content, the course is designed by the volunteer. Tuition classes are conducted for the students of standard 7 and 8 on a regular basis.

A health camp was organized by Employee Volunteers from CCE Division in collaboration with Lal Bahadur Shastri Trust, Parivar Kalyan Sansthan, Medical Services and CSR Team of Tata Motors, Jamshedpur. Specialists (doctors) from the Trust, PKS and Medical Services with the help of volunteers attended to over 150 children, youth, adults, women and those advanced in age. CCE Division carries organizes such camps every year at Village Tupudand which is its adopted village.

A group of 7 volunteers from Rallis India Lote Unit visited Z P School, Kothwadi, Sheldi, Lote and arranged a training programme on Sanitation, Hand Wash and Personal Hygiene. A total of 35 students participated in the programme. Our The volunteers conducted a practical session on proper hand washing, importance of sanitation, personal hygiene and good housekeeping in class room and school premises.

Over 25 Tata BSS Mohali volunteers cleaned a 2 km stretch of road. The volunteers were very happy to make their surroundings clean for themselves and others.
 
  Visit to a SHG Tata Motors  |  Jamshedpur
 
Employee Volunteers from ER and CCE went to village Bareghuttu and encouraged the members of women Self Help Groups (SHGs). They interacted with the women and oriented them on the importance of health & hygiene and education of their children. They stressed upon the need to send their children to the village pre-school (Anganwadi Kendra) after which for higher school and college education as education and health were the cardinal pillars upon which subsequent socio-economic development depended. Volunteers were happy to learn that the women had organized themselves into homogeneous SHG groups, opened bank accounts in the names of their SHGs and every month contributed a fixed amount of money for building up their corpus fund. They appreciated the practices of lending of loans amongst individual members during exigencies with repayments on a mutually agreeable nominal interest amount as against dependence on money lenders. On knowing that the women had undergone vocational training and planned to set up a micro-business, they were lauded by the volunteers and they offered all help in supporting with marketing platform for their products at Tata Motors. They explained the women the importance of pursuing adult literacy classes also. The volunteers then had a lively interaction with the children of the Government Primary School and taught them drawing, rhymes and organized a quiz on alphabetical words. The programme concluded with distribution of biscuits, cakes and chocolates to the children, mothers, teachers, villagers and the 'Pradhan' brought by the volunteers.

The volunteers visited an NGO which support differently abled adults and train them in Hospitality. They spent time with the young adults understanding their interest and requirement. They were given an understanding of the hotel and its functions such as Human Resources, Food and Beverages, House Keeping, etc. They were excited to learn something new & very overwhelmed with the knowledge they received during the session.
 
  Repairing old bicycles Tata Motors  |  Pune
 
Some of the TML employees residing in Pimple Saudagar took the initiative to collect unused bicycle’s from their residential housing societies and handed over to “Cyclemitra“ team who repair these cycles and hand over them to underprivileged children in Adivasi school in Kohinde village of Junnar Taluka. 10 such cycles were recently distributed to needy school children who need to walk 4 km to reach to their school.

Tata Realty and Infrastructure Limited organised a blood donation drive. Doctors from KEM Hospital attended to the donors. This hospital run by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation has a daily requirement of 150 to 200 units of blood which is mainly used to support Thalassemia affected children (350 children currently) as well as for all other types of super-speciality treatment and operations done at the hospital for needy and poor patients. In all about 163 units of blood was collected.

A cleanliness drive program was conducted at the UGME School & Anganwadi Centre near Tata Sponge plant in Bileipada, Keonjhar, Odisha. Children at both schools were overjoyed as the volunteers interacted them about their daily activities. Children were explained about the benefits of personal hygiene and the need to wash their hands before every meal.

As part of Tata volunteering week the self-created and creatively done dustbins which was all about making the best from waste were distributed to the local street vendors and hawkers. The dust bins were individually handed out to send out the message of keeping the area clean and green. The stretch adopted by VBT MG Road has been taken up as a responsibility where there can be no compromise in terms of hygiene and cleanliness and the public using the same have been made aware of this.

TSPDL volunteers went to Sukhtara School and spent time with children. They screened a cartoon movie for the children, helped them in learning poems and also distributed refreshments to them. Children enjoyed a lot as it was a change for them from their routine classes.
 
  Walkathon to raise awareness on playing safe holi TML Drivelines  |  Jamshedpur
 
Volunteers from different departments participated in a “Walkathon” to spread awareness amongst people residing around Tata Motors to play safe Holi using organic colors and to use minimum water. “Walkathon” was inaugurated by senior colleagues. During the walkathon, organic colors were distributed among residents of TELCO quarters near Azad market and slogans regarding playing an environment friendly holi were raised. The Walkathon started off from Tata Motors main gate, went through Telco quarters at Azad market area & concluded at CRS gate. The event eventually turned out to be huge success with residents encouraged to play Holi with organic colors & using minimum water. The event witnessed participation from 60+ employees especially GETs & Members of workers union.
