Participants from Tata Technologies Pune location volunteered at Corporation Girls School at Bhumkar Basti Kanya Shala. It included an innovative and inspiring way of growing through play way methods such as Hexagon Puzzle and Geometrics Tricks Fun activity. The objective is to help school children think independently and sharpen their problem solving ability.

A group of enthusiastic volunteers from Tata Sponge visited Jugudidar a tribal village in Joda block of Keonjhar district. They interacted with women groups, youth groups and school children. They motivated them to form JFM (Joint Forest Management) committee in their village, which will protect the surrounding forests and take-up plantation jobs in collaboration with Forest department and Tata Sponge. Optimum utilization of water, electricity and other resources were emphasized by the villagers.

Volunteers from JUSCO visited Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Adityapur where they conducted ‘Save the Environment’ Awareness Program. In this awareness program, the students were told how to take measures on saving the environment. They were also explained about the harmful effects of deforestation and global warming. To end this awareness program on a happy note, our team along with the students planted fruit trees of different varieties.

Volunteers from JUSCO imbibed the spirit of Swachh in the residents of Beldih-gram. Their cleaning campaign started with health and hygiene awareness to the residents and enlightened them about the preventive measures they should take in order to curb common diseases and ailments. Thereafter, the team joined hands with the residents to clean the surrounding area and contributed in their own way to make it a cleaner place. General medical check-up was also organized as part of this initiative for the children there.

CGPL volunteers in partnership with partner agency Coastal Salinity Prevention Committee (Tata Trust) organized a 4 Day Sanitation Campaign through Swachhta Rath. Four specific villages were identified where the need was felt that the awareness on sanitation is less. After the meticulous planning with four Gram panchayats, Swachhta Rath was prepared with all the social messages on sanitation which was further equipped with audio and video messages. The volunteers ensured the presence of the Panchayat members and also the Block Government official. In the school, the children were trained as sanitation torch bearers. The stakeholders were very happy about the approach, presence of the volunteers for a Social National Agenda, the film on sanitation and the street play which was presented before the village residents.
