A large number of enthusiastic CGPL employees participated in the Plantation Drive
in efforts to increase the green cover in the Tunda-Vandh Gaushala Premises. The
volunteers were provided free saplings of Azardirachta indica, commonly known as
Neem. They dug holes, planted the saplings and watered them. A total of 110 Neem
saplings were planted today. This was followed by an interactive discussion by guest
and Agricultural Specialist. He briefed the volunteers of the importance of planting
saplings and the need for maintaining trees for the future generations. He also
talked about the importance of bio-pesticides in which he emphasized that Neem oil
is a naturally occurring pesticide found in seeds from Neem tree.

In order to ensure hygiene, a team of Ginger volunteers and partners cleaned the
area from Back gate of Ginger IRCTC covering the Main gate till the Metro Station
which is the Exit of New Delhi Railway Station where thousands commute on a daily
basis. The volunteers also briefed the people to keep the area clean and throw the
garbage in dustbins only.

(Public & Police Association for street children). The visit started with a prayer
& all the children thanked the volunteers for providing the lunch. The volunteers

for all the Children.

BriDgeIT as an Affirmative Action Programme of Tata Consultancy Services that aims
to cultivate the culture of digital entrepreneurship and computer aided learning
amongst the marginalized youth and students of the rural schools respectively. The
programme is currently running in some of the primary, secondary Government schools
residing at Mohanlalganj, Gosainganj blocks (Lucknow district). To sensitize the
students towards the relevance of "green environment" and strengthen the bond with
the children, a plantation drive was organized at two of the government schools.
Apart from plantation drive, sketching competition for the students was also conducted.

A group of volunteers from Tata Sponge visited Gobardhanpur village in Deojhar Gram
Panchayat of Joda block in Keonjahr district. During their visit they interacted
with the members of women self-help group (WSHG) on Mother & Child Healthcare, Hygiene
& Sanitation, and importance of complete immunization and education in early child
education. During this event a smokeless chulla was also provided to this Anganwadi
centre which would save the firewood and time of the cook.

A Blood Donation camp was organised at CRM BARA. A total of 93 members volunteered
and collectively donated 75 units of blood which is the highest ever collected during
Blood Donation camp organised at CRM BARA so far.

A team of volunteers from Tata Steel Mines Division, Joda visited Primary school,
Talak Hutting Village near Joda. Blood grouping, Eye scanning and dental check-up
was done for all the children by Joda medical team. During check-up, four children
were found with ill health and were rushed to the Joda Hospital immediately. Tree
plantation was also done in the school premises. Fruit bearing saplings were provided
to the students for planting in and around the school premises.

Volunteers from UCPL & UPBG plant visited a government primary school and conducted a needs assessment. This school is situated in Kotha village, Rudrapur. The school is up to class 5, there are 50 students and all of them are from below poverty line families. During the visit it was found that the school lacked basic facilities such as water supply and storage of water, utensils for their mid-day meals and shoes for the children. The team is working on it to provide all these identified requirements to the school.

Teacher’s day celebrations were organized in 3 schools in the Tata Chemicals project villages. The objective of the day’s event was to ‘sensitize on the importance of education and the role of teachers in the development of human capital and nation building. During the event, 10 teachers were honoured with gifts for their contribution to the development of children in rural villages. Oratorical, Drawing, Poem Competitions and Dance events were conducted in Adidravidar Welfare Middle School, Kiloy Colony. 5 employee volunteers from TCL took part in this event, About 47 students took part in the competition with enthusiasm and interest and the best were given prizes and encouragement from TCL team.

Seven volunteers visited Blind Relief Association and supported for two hours in
the labelling and segregation of folders and paper bags. These folders and paper
bags will be displayed and sold during their upcoming Diwali Bazar, a week ahead
of Diwali. Diwali Bazar is a major source of income for them and the artefacts sold
are made by individuals with visually impairment. The income generated supports
education and provides livelihood to people with visual disabilities.

A group of 13 volunteers visited the SNEH Foundation. They donated groceries and household things which were asked by the school and also gifted school kits to the kids there. Children were of the age of around 8-14, and there were 50 children in total.
