Helping families open bank accounts

Volunteers from TML Drivelines visited Khursi village to conduct a survey and prepare
a list of people who do not have bank accounts. All the volunteers got segregated
in three groups. While the first group aided the bank officials from SBI Hartopa
branch in collecting and filling account opening forms, the other two groups set
out on foot to collect villagers from all the four tolas of Khursi. On total 35
bank accounts were opened and many more enlisted to open accounts but couldn’t due
to shortage of essential documents. The volunteers interacted with each family and
described to them the advantages of opening bank account. They were educated in
various government policies that they could avail, all the subsidies that are credited
to bank account, all the insurance policies under Jan Dhan Yojna.

Career counselling program

The volunteers arranged for a career counselling program for students of Sankalp
NGO. The program witnessed a participation of around 100 students, who were counselled
in batches by the volunteers. These students had accumulated from all the centers
of Sankalp NGO in Jamshedpur. All volunteers took seat amongst the students in circles
and answered all questions. It was a very interactive session, where the diversified
areas of career, health, safety etc. were covered with a commitment to increase
awareness and empathy among the underprivileged children. Children expressed their
dreams of contributing to the society as doctors, engineers, army officers, IPS
and detectives. The volunteers in turn told them what entrance exams could lead
them to these careers and how to prepare.

A Professional Coaching Program for track & field events was organized for the students
of Tinplate Community Schools. A professional coach from Tinplate Sports Department
gave special training to the athletes of the schools on how to perform well in their
sports activities and what extra care needs to be taken in order to remain physically
fit. Students were also guided on physical exercises and warm ups to remain focused,
so as to participate in District, State & National Level Sports program.

Tata Toyo Radiator volunteers visited ‘Hanuman Tekdi’ on Senapati Bapat road, Pune.
Through the volunteering activity they not only planted trees but also learnt a
new technique of creating Soil Bed out of Coconut husk for planting trees on Rocky
surfaces. This can be particularly useful for dense forestation and creating gardens
on Terraces etc.

Cleaning a river

With the aim to highlight the importance of rivers and strive to increase public
awareness while encouraging improved stewardship of rivers in Noamundi Township,
Tata Steel organised a campaign to promote cleanliness of local river bodies. Planning
department along with Human Resource department and Natural Resource department
officers picked up a spot of Balijhor Nallah, the lifeline of Noamundi and downstream
villages, for the cleaning activity. The main objective of the programme was to
sensitize local people about the importance of clean rivers so as to minimize water
borne diseases and educate about aquatic life with increased responsibility towards
cleanliness of the area where they work, bath or do daily farming.

education and working towards all round development of their village.

Tata Power DDL organized Community Reach Out Program (CROP) to disseminate awareness
in the community about its various CSR initiatives like Vocational Training, Women
Literacy Program, Mobile Dispensary services and Drug De-addiction camps at all
12 districts spread across North & North West Delhi. During the program Tata Power
DDL employees & ABHA members (brand ambassadors) visited households, briefed them
about various CSR initiatives and sensitized them to take benefit of the programs
besides capturing their personal details & short feedback. The survey aimed to capture
first hand info about the needs & requirements of communities. Accordingly steps
will be taken to meet the expectations & necessities of the communities. Over 1300
households were sensitized by team of 609 volunteers simultaneously at 12 locations
during the program.

Medical camp

A team from OMQ Noamundi organised a mega health camp at Daladari village. The team
also distributed snacks packets to all the villagers. More than 40 Employees of
F&A Division volunteered their services for organising various activities in Changira
village of Jamshedpur Block. The day started with medical check-up of all the villagers
especially the mothers and small children. The volunteers visited the village and
interacted with the villagers and the different communities. Talks were delivered
on various health and hygiene issues and also on the importance of education and
staying healthy. The team distributed mosquito nets to keep them safe from malaria
and dengue, a prevalent disease in this part of the country.

Tata Power DDL, in association with Delhi Metro Railway Corporation, inaugurated
RO water plant at Kirti Nagar metro station. The RO Plant was inaugurated by the
CEO & Managing Director, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited along with the Chief
General Manager (Civil), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited. The RO water purifiers
have a capacity of 500 Liter per Hour (LPH) and with an aim to provide potable drinking
water to metro commuters. The RO plant will be managed by women from Self Help Groups
formed by Tata Power DDL and the earning will go to them.

Prerna Girls School is a high school for underprivileged girls and a Corporate Sustainability
partner of TCS Lucknow. These girls come from the neighboring slums and communities
and being compelled by their circumstances, most of them work in houses as domestic
helpers. The Session on Health & Nutrition conducted by a doctor from Nutriwell,
Lucknow aimed at sensitizing the children towards the importance of nutritious food,
leading to better health, education and other opportunities for them. The comprehensive
session included detailed and interactive sessions on the importance of health,
personal hygiene and nutrition. Innovative activities like Poster Making Competition
and Essay Writing Contest were organized to engage the girls and help them grasp
the message easily.

to Cheshire home as a sustained volunteering engagement.

Volunteers of TCS Maitree Channasandra school had a distribution drive for the school
kids. Notebooks sponsored by TCS Maitree team were distributed in presence of some
senior account leaders. Along with it, a Health and nutrition session was conducted
to spread the importance of healthy individuals and good eating habits followed
by detailed session by volunteers on types of food to eat for a healthy body. The
team also had prepared a charts, presentation and videos which helped the children
to understand nutrition in easy ways.

TCS Maitree (Goa) hosted the Interschool talent contest for children. Invitees to
the event included the children from the Navjyoti initiative, NAB initiative as
well as the children of TCS associates. On the day of the event, 50 children participated
and were eager to display their talents in the areas of singing, dancing, acting
and storytelling. Participation categories consisted of Individual and group categories
with a further segregation of junior and senior. We saw some great talent, but more
than that it was the true team spirit and enthusiasm demonstrated by the participants
that shone through. All in all, they put up a great show which concluded with a
prize distribution. Aside from the prize winners, each child received a small gift
as a token of appreciation for being such a great sport!

First-aid training

Rallis organized a General First Aider Training programme at Brahminwadi, Songaon
for the benefit of the villagers. This was conducted by the Occupational Health
Centre In-charge along with the First Aider Team. The volunteer explained how to
provide first aid on snake bite, dog bite (anti rabies), electric shock, electrolyte
imbalance, fractures, bandages, burns, recover positions etc. The training session
helped the participants to understand the importance of first aid to the injured
and the way to provide first aid to the required persons immediately before shifting
to hospital.

70 Tata BSS volunteers participated in the ‘rise safe, ride smart’ campaign over
the weekend in Chennai. They formed a Human Chain to create awareness on wearing
helmet, traffic rules, vehicle safety etc. They also distributed pamphlets to the
people on roads and people waiting on the traffic signal. They met some very enthusiastic
motorists who appreciated having the rules in paper and said they would teach the
same to their children.

inspiration from this Great Leader of India.

Akola volunteers conducted awareness session on Dengue & Chikungunya for contract
workers who belong to a nearby village namely Malkapur, Shivani, Shivar etc.the
volunteers gave information on diseases that normally occur in this season, the
reasons behind the illness and precaution to be taken to avoid the same. The contract
workers were given the awareness on Good Hygiene practices so as to keep all the
diseases away. Around 150 contract workers benefitted from the session.

Vivanta by Taj MG Road organized a Swachch Bharat initiative where many volunteers
came forward to clean the periphery areas of the hotel and neighborhood, painting
of the periphery areas to make it look spick and span, clearing the areas of all
kinds of waste material and also mopping the area thoroughly. The associates then
reached out to the neighbouring areas including the local bus stop and the surroundings
which were cleared and made to look perfect. The painting initiative was done for
all the parking stripes in the surrounding areas which all the associates enjoyed.
The activity also included cleaning of the drainage and completely clearing the
waste out of it. The initiative also managed to create a lot of public awareness
as it sent out a strong message about the importance of cleanliness.
