Referral Hospital & Research Centre, Chubwa and Agri Team from Teok participated in a volunteering activity by giving training on pepper cultivation to farmers mostly women from Bhardhora Gaon near Panitola in Dibrugarh District. The idea was to sensitize them about commercial production of Spices (Black Pepper) for enhancement of income for better livelihood through sustainable agriculture practice and access to markets.

The volunteers of Nahorkutia Tea Estate spent 4 hours conducting a general health check-up camp and health awareness campaign at Lt. Gopinath Bordoloi M.E. School. 72 children were medically checked by the Estate Sr. Medical Officer, Pharmacist and Health Assistant. The volunteers accordingly distributed general medicines to the children. Few children were detected with specific diseases were prescribed for further special treatment.

In order to create an awareness about the Dengue and Chikenugunya diseases in and around the hotel area, 24 volunteers from the hotel prepared hoardings on awareness, the ways to protect and also designed pamphlets. They also joined the pest control service provider, Ttuly Nolen to spray Mosquito Medicine on the areas wherever water is stagnated and mosquitoes breed.

Second Year Students from Vidhya Vikas College of Hotel Management were invited at Ginger Hotel, Mysore. The Hotel Manager explained the hotel functionality and its operations to the students, post which they were escorted to all the departments by hotel team. All the department staff explained their role & responsibilities in the hotel. After the training, a debrief session was conducted by Hotel Manager and volunteers to resolve the queries which the students had.

Umaid Bhawan Palace team reached at the cleaning point with all the requisites and conducted the cleaning drive in an hour. 150 volunteers participated in this activity. All the garbage near the lake was collected and taken away and the nearby rocky area was cleaned with the help of broomsticks and cleaning equipment.

Tata BSS volunteers celebrated Onam festival with students of DARE (Development Activities in Rehabilitative Education) School, which is supported by Tata Global Beverages' through a Srishti Welfare project in Munnar. The school provides opportunity to the lives of differently abled children aged between 4 to 18 years of plantation workers. The volunteers conducted various activities for the students like dancing, musical chair, etc. They interacted with the students, provided them snacks & toys.

Volunteers of TCS Maitree AKG Colony (Sparsh) School and Kadugodi Urdu School conducted a Health and Nutrition session for the kids. The team presented the good and bad habits of eating, healthy foods and foods to avoid through posters and presentation. Post the session, a short film named FEAST (2014) of Disney Films was shown to all the children. The film had nutrition as its theme and depicted information which could be easily understood by the kids.

Diligenta, (a BPS process worked out of S3) conducted a process level CSR event over the weekend where they went and served a ‘healthy’ meal to more than 250 needy and homeless people in and around Pune station. They made food packets (consisting of pulav, one fruit, biscuits for the kids and a bottle of mineral water) and personally went out on the streets to serve them. This is a process of ~500+ associates in Pune and more than 150 associates participated in the event in the form of sponsoring these meals and or volunteering to serve the needy themselves.

A training program for the teachers of village remedial classes and vocational training classes was organized by a team of volunteers from Tinplate Company at Community Development Centre. Education Consultant, CII took the session for these teachers. It was a lively session where 15 teachers interacted and got suggestions from the resource persons on how to improvise their teaching and learning methodology. They also discussed their problems at work area and the remedies to overcome those problems were suggested by the Resource persons.

Financial and health survey

A financial and health survey was organized by volunteers of TML Drivelines in the village of Khursi. More than 30 volunteers, including GETs and Forge Maintenance team took part in the event which consisted of spreading awareness about having a bank account and health issues. The volunteers visited door to door and enquired if villagers had any previous bank accounts or not. Based on this a rough estimate of total number of bank account holders was made. Also, the villagers were enlightened about various Government schemes related to rural upliftment like Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojna, Atal Pension Scheme etc. These records will be used as a basis for facilitating the opening of bank accounts in the next visit. Few of our volunteers visited the SBI, Narua branch, the closest bank to the village, to initiate a collaboration to achieve financial inclusion with a target of atleast one bank account per family.
Apart from this, villagers were asked about the health issues they faced. A lot of women complained about how their children are vulnerable to dengue and malaria and other monsoon diseases. The data collected from them will be used to facilitate the supply of medicines and doctor accordingly in the next visit.
