  Awareness on health for girls Tata Tinplate  |  Jamshedpur
 
The Team from Tinplate Hospital & CSR department organised a three day awareness program for girls from remote villages of Singhbhum (East & West Districts) of Jharkhand to prepare them for community health provider training in Tinplate Hospital, which is for 2 years. This training enables them to get engaged in different health care centers. This was 3-day residential program with free boarding & lodging, conducted by 3 faculties from different fields. Volunteers put up their best to get maximum participation of girls from villages.
 
  Conducting a kid’s carnival Tata Steel Processing and Distribution  |  Kolkata
 
Tata Steel Processing & Distribution Limited (TSPDL) successfully celebrated Kids Carnival organised for the students of Udbhas & Jhampukur Sri Sri Ramakrishna Sangha, Partners of TSPDL. The Students from Class III to XII participated with full enthusiasm & zeal. The program began with distribution of jerseys with the logo of TVW -VI to all the 100 participating students. After a sumptuous breakfast the Kid’s Carnival was inaugurated by releasing colourful balloons to the sky. After the inauguration ceremony different sports events were organised for different classes of students which included flat race, balancing race, obstacle race, passing the baton, football match & musical chair. 21 volunteers from TSPDL participated in this event. Students who stood 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the respective events were given prizes. The students enjoyed lunch after the completion of the sports activities. In the second half an event named “Minute to win it” was conducted for the students in which various 1 minute games were organised & also the winners were given the prizes.

The Processing & Logistics & NRD team, Noamundi conducted a health and hygiene awareness class on the theme “Prevention of Diarrhoea” for the students of Hutubsud Primary School. A total of 96 students were present during the session and each were taught “6 steps of Hand Washing” and presented a soap and biscuit packet. The TSRDS, West Bokaro team organized a Body Mass Index Study and health check-up of Adolescents for the student of RISTHA project. An awareness programme on Health & Safety organised by the H Blast Furnace team for the lady contractor worker. Blood grouping, Eye scanning and dental check-up camp was organised for the children by Joda medical team. Health awareness lessons were taught to the children by the doctors and other members. Chocolates were distributed among them. An awareness programme on Dengu organised by the HRM department for the school children.

Road safety is the duty of all individuals who use the infrastructure build in our country. Keeping in mind the same view and to create awareness regarding correct usage of Zebra Crossing and helmet while driving a voluntarily Road Safety campaign was initiated by HRM & Security Department of Tata Steel.

A group of passionate volunteers from Tata Sponge Iron Limited (TSIL) visited a residential school situated in an interior tribal village Dhobakuchuda of Chamakpur GP in Joda block, Odisha. The volunteers participated in all activities & encouraged them to make decisions and finally pursue education which is ultimate path lead to their goal. All these factors comes under the rights of the children. Volunteers appealed to the teachers and parents to ensure their cooperation in this regard.

TPL volunteers visited the home for the destitute at Good Samaritan’s Home for the destitute in West Venkatapuram. The volunteers offered them fruits. It was a great experience for all the volunteers.

TPL has organised a visit to the school program to engage with the students and also provided educational kit to them. Employees from TPL & TCS organized a quiz competition & poem recitation program. All students were handover a kit constituting of bag, pencils and Note books. In total, 75 kits were distributed.

A team of 11 volunteers from Tata Power Solar visited the Government primary school and imparted knowledge & awareness of need & importance of education. The team also conducted a Quiz programme on important topics to help ignite the students mind. The volunteers donated books to all the 180 Students in the school.

23 employees of Tata Motors took part in a wall painting activity in collaboration with Thane Municipal School No-43, Thane. The volunteers painted various messages through pictures for awareness of the students of the school.

Employees from P& SC, Material Audit, HR and CQ visited the school of blind children run by Navjyoti Blind School, he employees conducted singing games involving the teachers and children. In the end employees distributed sweets, 70 dinner plates and 55 blankets to the children.
 
  Visit to malnutrition treatment centre Tata Motors  |  Jamshedpur
 
SPoCs nominated from various Divisions for coordinating employee volunteering came to the Malnutrition Treatment Centre (MTC) housed at Parivar Kalyan Sansthan. They were apprised about the process of admission, treatment and discharge of the severely acute malnourished (SAM) children undergoing treatment at the MTC. They were humbled to see the condition of the children and the stark poverty that the accompanying mothers face. They distributed sweets and biscuits to the children and mothers. The volunteers assessed the needs of the mothers and children after which they resolved to come again with their family members and distribute sarees for the mothers, clothes and soft toys for the children and dry ration which they could carry with them on discharge.

Employee volunteers from Tata Motors and Tata Technologies jointly decided to extend solidarity to the orphaned and differently abled residents who are being taken care of at the Nirmal Hriday. The volunteers visited the home and spent time by interacting with each resident and the care taking sisters and the staff. The volunteers donated cereals, vegetable oil, detergents, sugar, biscuits, fortified nutrients and many other things to the Centre.

Team members came to the Employee Volunteering Centre and understood the ongoing 'TML Lab to Land' programme' which is being carried out through the Centre. Under the programme, Employee Volunteering Centre is a volunteering hub created where volunteers extend hand holding support to progressive farmers in adopting best horticulture and allied practices with interface of CSR between the Flora Horticulture Society, Progressive Farmers and Employee Volunteers.

Volunteers of TCS Maitree Jakkarayanake Platform Road School conducted a Health and Nutrition session for the kids. The session was kicked off with some videos on healthy individuals and good eating habits followed by detailed session by Volunteers on types of food to eat for a healthy body. The team also had prepared a presentation which helped the children to understand nutrition in easy ways. Also a special mention was made on non-expensive eatables which can help the children in preserving a healthy body. Foods to eat and Foods to avoid was distinguished by using some posters on different types of food.

Volunteers of TCS Maitree Garudacharpalya Primary schools conducted a distribution drive for the school kids. Notebooks sponsored by TCS Maitree team were distributed in presence of some senior account leaders. Along with it, Old school bags had been collected from Ameriprise associates as a special initiative from the volunteers group which were also distributed among the students. It was well appreciated since though the school bags were old, they were in good condition and was a great help for the students to carry to school.

The team organized a voluntary blood donation camp at Toopran plant with the help of Lions club Hyderabad – Cosmo led by the Executive Director. Lions club of Hyderabad & the team members of Tata Coffee have shared the importance of Blood donation and its role at emergency time. Donors from Tata Coffee voluntarily participated and donated 47 units in this camp. This blood donation camp’s main objective was to help the people suffering in Thalassemia, cancer and other needy persons in society.

TCL, Mithapur organized beach cleaning programs on 17th and 18th at Dwarka and Mithapur respectively. The program at Dwarka was organized in partnership with the Marine National Park (Gujarat State Forest Dept.) and the Indian Navy. Volunteer teams from TCL, the Marine National Park Dept. and the INS Dwarka naval base participated in the plastic and trash collection drive at Sangam Narayan beach at Dwarka.

153 Cattle Owners participated in OPD & 160 animals were examined & treated for 69 Gynaecological, 76 General Seasonal diseases & 15 for surgical from 40 villages.

6 Tata BSS volunteers travelled to Medak, which is 91 kms from Hyderabad to interact with students from TSWRIS School & J R College. It’s an all-girls govt. residential with students mostly from low-income communities & affirmative action background. The volunteers conducted various extra-curricular activities and had fun time with the students. They had a parting gift for the students, which was a CSR themed diary. Over 400 students received the diaries & promised to use it to note down their eventful days at school.
 
  Self-defense session Rallis India  |  Lote
 
Rallis India Lote Unit arranged a Training session on “Self Defense” for the Girls students of Junior College of Nutan Vidyalaya Lote. This was conducted by a Black Belt holder and President of Ratnagiri District Taekwondo. The volunteers made all the arrangement for the programme. The trainer delivered a lecture on general warm-up, exercise, punching and blocking, attack and self-defense methods etc. Half an hour demonstration session was also performed by the team and given practical training to the girls in the hall. 42 students were present in the training session.
 
  Road safety awareness Rallis India  |  Lote
 
A group of Six Volunteers from Rallis India Lote Unit went to Nutan Vidyalaya, Lote and conducted an awareness session on Road Safety by power point presentation, video clips and verbal discussion for the high school students. Road accidents are happening on daily basis in all areas and we should take maximum care to reduce the number of accidents by way of arranging awareness programmes to different levels of people in the society. 175 students were present in the training session.

The team took an initiative to clean the adjoining area of the Someshwar during Visarjan rituals, post the visarjan rituals of the Hotel’s Ganapati idol. A team of twenty volunteers enthusiastically participated and yet silently started cleaning the waste deposits around. Even other devotees noticing the team work by The Gateway hotel, contributed by disposing their waste in our waste-bags. About 15 kgs nirmalya waste was collected from river side and handed over to the Nashik Muncipal corporation sewage truck.

Ginger Hotel Vapi in association with Lions club Vapi, took up the task of cleaning the main street and market area at Gunjan, Vapi . 29 enthusiastic volunteers gathered at Gunjan area and started cleaning of the area with equipment's provided by the Hotel. A session of awareness and importance of cleanliness was also given by associates to local sellers and shopkeepers.

Volunteers from Ginger Hotel, Goa visited Govt High School at Merces, Tiswadi and interacted with the teachers & students from class IX & X. They spoke about Tourism & Hospitality and informed the school & students about Tata Strive Center at Goa and the opportunities available.

A group of 32 volunteers engaged in blood donation camp conducted at Ginger Hotels Bangalore Whitefield in association with Lifecare Voluntary Blood Bank. 25 donors and 07 coordinators actively engaged in organising the blood donation camp and donated 25 units of blood in total. Apart from Ginger Hotel Whitefield associates, representatives from Ginger Bangalore IRR and TCS Whitefield also supported the camp. Team has also organised a session on Blood donation benefits and its importance.
 
  Cleanliness drive Coastal Gujarat Power  |  Mundra
 
Volunteers of CGPL in association with Sahjeevan NGO and Local Tunda Panchayat organized Village Cleanliness Drive in Tunda Village. During the drive, the CGPL volunteers joined the hands with the local community members for the cleanliness drive. The Government official were also invited. During the day, village rally was organized and the villagers were sensitized about the importance of cleanliness in the village. The aim of the cleanliness drive was to set up an Integrated Waste Management System in the village and generate awareness on public sanitation and waste management. The village was provided with dust bins so that littering is avoided. It has also been decided about further operation and maintenance of the dustbins and segregation of waste into biodegradable and non-biodegradable. It was briefed by the waste management that the organic waste would be put into a compost pit. This would ensure maximum waste recovery through recycling and reuse and would lead to Zero Waste and would improve health and quality of life of the communities. Volunteers also mobilized the school children and teachers and they went around the village, telling the villagers to throw waste only in dustbins and avoid littering.
 
  Science fair for the students Coastal Gujarat Power  |  Mundra
 
In association with Block Resource Centre (BRC- Education Department, GoG) – Mandvi, a block level Science was organized at Primary School of Padampur (Mandvi block of Kutch District) under CGPL's Shiksha Saarthi Program which is for enhancing the learning achievements among the school students. A total of 168 schools participated and several selected students showed different kinds of experiments. The volunteers were present in the Block level fair to brief about the science models and idea along with the students. The volunteers first trained the students on various models and showed the models and introduced their easy technique to do experiments. During fair CGPL's Shiksha Sarthi volunteers introduced many experiments which were prepared by children using very low cost materials. Some of the models like Balance of nails and pencil, Eye model, Solar Cooker, Archimedes Screw Pump and Eye model drew attention of the teachers and parents. The participants in the fair applauded the efforts of CGPL- Shiksha Saarthi Volunteers. The technical partner for this event was Pratham.
