  Celebrating ‘World Environment Day’ Indian Hotels   |  Capetown
 
17 Taj associates took the initiative and combined their efforts to provide the Company Gardens of Cape Town a clean-up to celebrate World Environment Day. Associates from Housekeeping, Human Resources, Sales and Marketing, Information Systems, Jiva Spa, Kitchen and Stewarding took part in the kind, helpful and generous initiative. The team walked together from the Hotel to the Gardens and met with the CCID as well Management of the City of Cape Town. The clean-up started from the main pathway of the Gardens, as this is known as the main walk way for our tourist. Cleaning the Company’s Gardens sends a wonderful message across to all individuals of the importance of cleanliness, hygiene, the awareness of sanitation and places emphasis on the beauty of our Country, our Heritage, our City and the kind, generous and helpful Taj Cape Town Team.

Associates of Vivanta by Taj Bentota Sri Lanka volunteered to clean and complete the color washing of Bentota “Sugatha” Elder’s home which consists of 52 elders including differently abled elders in both Gender.
 
20 associates volunteered including the General Manager and all Head of the Depts. and spent more than 8 volunteered hours in repairing the windows, ceiling fans & color washing of entire Elder’s home premises and cleaning of the garden area. This initiative helps these elders to enjoy a decent stand of living with a new colorful environment created by Taj Volunteers.
 
  Blood donation camp Indian Hotels  |  Hyderabad
 
Volunteers with the help of Red Cross Society conducted a blood donation camp. The associates from three hotels came forward to participate in this noble endeavour. Total 100 units of blood donation were received by the end of the day which is considered to be one of the biggest milestones achieved. The volunteers from the Red Cross were amazed by witnessing the enthusiasm of all the associates.
 
  Cleanliness drive Indian Hotels  |  Jodhpur
 
A team of 30 volunteers took up the challenge to clean hotel periphery and ensure high standards of cleanliness in the surrounding. The housekeeping team members issue cleaning gears to the team. Members were divided into two groups one were deputed to clean the area and collect waste dry leafs and debris. And second team members were deputed to fill garbage bags for transportation. On completion of activity the garbage bags were stored in isolation for dispatch.
 
  Renovation of a pre-school center APPL  |  Assam
 
A team comprising of management, welfare officers, staff & workers volunteered to renovate Misamukh Anganwadi Center, located 20km from the Estate. This centre looks after 50 children of 0-3 years age group of the locality. Thet take care of immunization, nutrition & non formal education. Though the center is a Govt aided one but due to lack of maintenance it was in a pathetic condition. The team with their full dedication painted and white washed the walls & did some minor repairs.
 
  Blood Donation Drive Tata Technologies  |  Thailand
 
Tata Technologies Thailand team organised 9th Blood Donation Drive at its Bangkok office. Team Supported Red cross Society Thailand. Total 23 blood units were collected during this drive for the noble cause.

Around 50 volunteers from JLR body CAD group visited and donated a sum amount of INR 20000 to the NAAM foundation. Naam Foundation provides aid to drought affected farmers of Maharashtra villages. Employees believe that through this direct donation help they can help to salve draught affected farmers problems.

Tata Technologies employees recently organised Shoe Donation Drive and collected seven boxes of Shoes. With the help of Sahara Alhad NGO, they distributed those shoes to street needy people. It was helpful drive for street side people on this summer time.
 
  50 Km Cyclothon Tata Technologies  |  Pune
 
Around 50 employees from Tata technologies and their friends organized a Cyclothon activity to create awareness on the importance of using eco-friendly mode of transportation. The goal of this event was to encourage people to use bicycle in order to lessen their carbon footprint as well as stay physically fit.
 
  Lake cleanliness drive Tata Advanced Systems  |  Hyderabad
 
The Lake cleanliness drive was planned to clean up the non-biodegradable waste around the peripheral area of the Mantrala Lake. This event was made successful with the help of around 100 employees who took time out of their regular work and spent 2 Hrs. to clean-up the waste including plastics, poly bags, metal, glass pieces, POP, rubber, pipes etc. The employees were provided with necessary safety equipment like gloves, masks, gumboots and tools like racks, shovels. The employees were able to clean-up and gather 1.2 ton of non-biodegradable waste which was later carried by municipal garbage truck.
 
The sign boards and dustbins were then kept within respective areas to spread the message “Keep this area clean” & “Dump the waste in dustbins”. Employees also spoke about cleanliness and benefits of lakes to the nearby residents.

Right from designing the posters to preparing the carton boxes, the Toy & Book Donation drive started with all zeal n zest at TATA Advanced Systems Ltd. After the motivational speeches from senior colleagues, the saga of inspiring each other to stuff the magical boxes with multiple beautiful dreams began until they collected more than 300 toys, some new, some played with memories attached, trying to fulfil all kinds of small-big aspirations of the little players.

Free Medical Camps were conducted for local people in the neighbourhood villages. It was spear-headed by doctors from Apollo along with a team of 12 volunteers. The response to the camp was good. Total 207 villagers were screened for Hyper-tension, blood sugar levels. Based on the test results, free consultation was provided along with distribution of multi-vitamin tablets. Medicines were also prescribed for ailments like fever, anaemia, joint pain, etc. The lady doctor gave consultation to women & girls of the village and emphasized the importance of sanitation.

Volunteers associated with Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Society, Hyderabad to organize blood camp in the Plants. The enthusiastic volunteers from TASL came forward to participate and support the cause. This Activity has always got tremendous support from all employees. Total 206 units of blood was donated.

The ZPH School premises were renovated for beautification with wall paintings and plantation. The school staff and the students were extremely grateful to the team for brightening up their school premises.

The Volunteers visited the Vidya-Sagar Trust who work with under-privileged kids. The volunteers planted fruits and various plants (40+) in the premises to create awareness on environment. The kids joined their hands with the volunteers to execute this event.

Close to 500 caps were distributed to students of Telangana Social Welfare Residential School & Jr College, Medak with an aim to protect the students from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun.

Tata BSS volunteering team visited Sri Venkateshwara Higher Secondary school in Madippakkam. The students were mostly from low-income backgrounds and witnessed annual drops out. The team counselled the students on the importance of education and easing the way on how they look at their exams. Furthermore the team also gave geometry boxes to all the students in 8th & 9th Class.

Tata BSS volunteers carried out Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in and around the office campus for Lodha & Kasar locations. The volunteers didn’t shy away from borrowing brooms from the housekeeping staff and marched to the roads and swept it clean within hours.

With a soaring mercury ranging between 38 to 40 degree Celsius and the sun socking up human energy, it becomes the herculean task for the Mumbai cops to manage vehicular congestion and also to safe guard human life simultaneously. Tata BSS volunteering team distributed packaged drinking water at major junctions of Thane city (Majiwada, Cadbury Junction, Kalwa Police ground, Teen Hath Naka) , to boost their sustaining capacity of the prickling heat and continuing their valuable services for the rest of the day. Moreover, the team supplied water bottles to thirsty elderly, children they met on the road and also candidates who were dead tired after completing the police selection process in an open police ground.

Dedicated Tata BSS Mumbai volunteers visited an old age home and an orphanage. The teams spend half a day with the elderly residents of Me- Niketan sharing life stories and making them laugh. They also donated boxes of life saving medicines to the old age home. Meanwhile, a few volunteers visited Adharwad orphanage, interacted with the children & distributed groceries & food items.
 
  Dictionary Donation drive Tata Business Support Services  |  Mohali
 
Tata BSS AVP Anwar Khan, visited a government school in Mohali and distributed dictionaries to a complete section of students of Class V. The students were not aware how to check the word meaning and he took a class for almost an hour and taught them how to use the Dictionary.
 
  Training for the youth Tata Consulting Engineers  |  Chennai
 
Tata Consulting Engineers Chennai organised an AUTO Cad Training for the ITI students. Both 2D and 3D Auto Cad training was given to students by few trainers from TCE Chennai. The trainers enjoyed volunteering in the form of teaching and were happy to spend time with the youth.

10 volunteers of Tata Consulting Engineers conducted a workshop “Train The Trainer” on first aid, safety at labor camp/site & road safety for 60 teachers of Doorstep School NGO, Pune. TCE is running the SOW (School on Wheel) project for Door Step School for the kids of construction laborers at the schools run by Door Step at Construction Sites. The teachers double up as caretakers for these kids. The session was based on educating the teachers regarding various potential hazards and remedies to ensure safety and wellbeing of kids. The sessions were demonstrative & interactive in nature to have more impact. TCE will be carrying this activity frequently with Door Step as it is about safety at construction sites for kids. TCE volunteers had prepared 3 posters (first aid, safety at labor camp/site & road safety) to illustrate various types of hazards and their remedies. 60 copies of the posters were handed over to Door Step which will utilized across schools to ensure safety of kids.

As part of Tata Volunteering Week – 5, Volunteers of Trent Hypermarket Pvt Ltd- Star Bazaar Bangalore RR Nagar Store prepared meals in the store kitchen for 180 people staying in Balaji Old Age home.
