  Repairing a drinking water facility of a school Tata Technologies  |  Bangalore
 
Volunteers from Tata Technologies visited Government School, Ulsoor and found that drinking water facility for school children was very unhygienic. The team discussed this with the Head mistress who advised the volunteers to assist them in putting concrete cement, shift electric motor/pump & water filter and fix them. Tata Technologies Bangalore Team obtained internal financial approval to support this project. They completed the work in 4 days.
 
This has enabled the school children to use clean drinking water. Further grill work to safe guard the water filter will be taken up in next few days.
 
  Singing competition for children CGPL   |  Gujarat
 
Volunteers from Coastal Gujarat Power Limited along with partner agency Swadeep arranged a Singing Competition for the children of Sagarshala (an education hub for the children of transient fishermen). The children and their parents participated wholeheartedly and made it a special day. The event concluded with an award ceremony. The community participated and also assisted the volunteers in organizing the event and completing it with great success.
 
  Volunteers clean the beach Indian Hotels   |  Srilanka
 
As a part of TATA Volunteering Week 5, 18 volunteers from Vivanta by Taj, Bentota turned up for the beach cleaning campaign around the hotel vicinity and were able to clean up a lot of general waste, glass, and empty plastic bottles etc. The volunteering team spent more than two hours on the beach and enthusiasm shown by the volunteers was wonderful to see.
 
  Walkathon & Awareness Rally Indian Hotels   |  Jodhpur
 
Over 20 associates of VBT-Harimahal participated in a rally for a very important message ‘Save The Girl Child’. The rally was flagged off at the staff gate of the hotel by the F&B Manager. The participants carried banners posters with messages on “Save the girl child”, depicting the importance of women in the society. This rally was conducted to spread awareness & remove difference between boy & girl from the mind-set of the society. They also said many slogans, urging the people to provide education to girl children. Enthusiasm of local community was seen by their presence & served as a boost for the cause.
 
  Visit to a home for the homeless Indian Hotels   |  Jodhpur
 
Volunteers organised a drawing competition for the kids of the Love Kush Sansthan as a part of TVW5. The theme of the competition was ‘Nature’ to give them a chance to paint their world with bright & wonderful colours. This activity showcased the hidden talent of the kids & their unique outlook on the topic. In the end a goodie bag was given to each child, which had a chocolate, muffin & a small teddy bear as a token of love & care to those little angels.
 
  Visit to a home for women Indian Hotels  |  Mumbai
 
A group of young energetic associates from the Taj Wellington Mews visited ‘Saints home’ - a shelter for destitute underprivileged women. The volunteers decided to make the day special for these women. Song, dance and cheer was the order of the day as associates entertained the audience and left them all smiles. They got them to cut a cake and surprised the women with gifts. The women were overjoyed. The volunteers were overwhelmed with joy and came back with bags full of blessings and happiness.
 
  Safety workshop Tata Business Support Services  |  Jamshedpur
 
Tata BSS Jamshedpur conducted safety workshops which included safety in workplace, Road Safety & Defensive Driving, Women Safety, and Basic Medical Emergency Preparedness – First Aid in two of its Jamshedpur offices. The aim was to spread awareness among the employees and urge them to be vigilant at all times as prevention is better than cure. The sessions were highly popular among the employees and all the participants promised to spread the tips among their friends & family.

Knowledge of fire prevention is of paramount importance to everyone’s safety. In all buildings, firefighting & rescue operations pose a great challenge and Tata BSS takes the safety of its employees very seriously and prepares them in case of such unfortunate instances.
 
The employees are provided with the basic facts on the nature of fire & the actions that should be taken if a fire breaks out/evacuation orders are issued, in addition to focusing on how to prevent fire from occurring, spreading & to improve fire safety practices at work.
 
  Women Self-defence workshop Tata Business Support Services  |  Mumbai
 
Tata BSS conducted women self-defence workshop in the Thane office. Over 60 participants partook the lesson provided by an expert trainer. The women employees were given demo lessons and urged to pass on the learning to female friends and relatives.
 
  Visit to orphanage Tata Business Support Services  |  Hyderabad
 
Tata BSS Hyderabad volunteers visited Ayusha Nilayam children’s home and conducted various engagement activities ranging from problem solving games, out of the box thinking, ensuring quality of work and motivation. 32 children participated in the activities and expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards the team for the fun-filled day.
 
  Helping someone in need Tata Consultancy Services  |  Pune
 
Associates from Western Union Account initiated this activity by helping an old man who is selling and earning for his food instead of begging on the streets. This activity was conducted at Shivaar Chowk, Pune where an old man selling balloons was provided a delicious treat in McDonald’s along with his grandchildren. Balloons from this old man were purchased and distributed to the other poor children in and around that area
 
  Pune Lantern Festival Tata Consultancy Services  |  Pune
 
Pune’s 1st Sky Lantern Festival was initiated by TCS Maitree Yellow Pages Creative –M&IS team. The main motto was to raise funds for the underprivileged children at Gharat shelter home managed by John Paul Slum Development Program in Yerawada, Pune. More than 2,000 Bio-degradable Paper Lanterns were lit and the sky was illuminated with hope of a better future

Health and Nutrition session was conducted for the female housekeeping and security staff on 19th March in Sahyadri park office Pune. The doctors conducted an awareness session on Breast Cancer for the women associates.
 
  Baner Hill Tree Plantation Tata Consultancy Services  |  Pune
 
Baner plantation is part of SADHANA’s environment initiative and helps in restoration and conservation in Baner hill. This event was carried out on the 6th & 20th of March 2016. The view is beautiful from the top of the hill and gives a refreshing view of the city and along with clean air.
 
  Donation drive Tata Consultancy Services  |  Pune
 
The year 2016 began on a stupendous note as the Western Union volunteers undertook an initiative to help in the cause of welfare of the orphans in the “Aapala Ghar” located in Warje, Pune on 5th Mar 2016. Team donated brand new clothes, new sports gear, note books and loads of cookies and chocolates to the kids. Along with this the volunteers entertained the kids with their singing skills and played games.

TCS Maitree team paid a visit to Harishchandragad on the 12th of March. An initiative was taken to clean the area in and around the location and the team stayed overnight and completed their mission successfully.
 
  Blood donation camp Tata Elxsi   |  Bangalore
 
As a part of Tata Volunteering Week 5, Tata Elxsi, Bangalore organised a Blood Donation drive on 18th March, 2016 at Hoody and PSN. This was conducted in association with three blood banks - NIMHANS, Victoria Hospital and Narayana Hrudayalaya through Lions Club, Sanjaynagar. Employees actively participated in the drive and in total 280 blood units were donated. This is a record-breaking count for Tata Elxsi and is significantly higher than earlier camps.
 
The entire team of Lions Club was extremely happy with the whole-hearted participation from the employees and such a large turnout. Employees with rare blood groups also donated, using which the blood banks could immediately address critical requirements at different hospitals. A group of volunteers supported the drive in organising and helping out the employees with the procedure throughout the activity. Every donor was handed over a certificate of appreciation by the Blood bank and a badge stating “I am a Proud Donor" as a token of appreciation by Tata Elxsi.

A team of employees from Land & Market and Intelligence department of Tata Steel visited the primary school of Hakegora and Baredih to make the day memorable for children. The team was greeted with songs by the young children. All employees interacted with the children. They distributed shoes, chocolates, books and stationery items to the children. The team also donated 2 ceiling fans to the school and ensured their continuous presence to the school.

A rally on environment was carried out at the BH Area, Kadma. The door to door rally emphasised the importance on safe environment practices.

Employees of Sports Department organised different sports activities for the youth of Jamshedpur during Jam@streets. Sports activities were organised for all to play and enjoy the events. The employees of Urban Services also used the Jam@streets platform to educate the citizens of Jamshedpur on the use of dustbins. The event witnessed more than 20,000 footfalls and it was a good opportunity to make people aware of the importance of a clean and safe city.

A mega cleanliness drive was undertaken in the bustee area of Bhalubasha. The volunteers cleaned the surrounding areas for general public to use.
