Group of volunteers from various departments of the Indian Hotels Company Ltd joined hands with the Street Providence Centre in Goa in providing food to homeless individuals. A whole-hearted meal was made by the volunteers and carefully packed to cater 70+ residents of the rehabilitation centre. The volunteers visited various shelters of the organization and personally served everyone.
The Street Providence Centre is a rehabilitation centre in Goa with the mission to care for people with no fix abode, destitute with severe health concerns and alcoholic addicts.

Volunteers from the Taj Holiday Village Resort & Spa and Taj Fort Aguada Resort & Spa, Goa together with the Lions Club of Candolim and Goa Medical College organized a blood donation camp in the resort’s premises. The volunteers made every effort at making the camp a hassle-free experience for the donors. Over 100 donors came together donate blood.

A team of 100 volunteers from Indian Hotels Company Ltd initiated a cleanliness drive at heritage sites such as St. Lawrence Church Sinquerim, The Helipad and the Fort Aguada. These places have become a habitat for Peacocks, various birds and a variety of flora and fauna. With the number of tourists visiting these sites, it is important to maintain serenity and cleanliness of such places. The volunteers spent two hours sweeping the area, collecting plastic wastes and other litter like glass bottles, masks, etc. The drive ended with garbage bags filled to the brim and leaving volunteers with the sense of achievement.

Volunteers of the Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company (P) Limited organized a one-day cleanliness drive with the vision ‘My Munnar, Clean Munnar’. Close to 5000 volunteers, included family members of the teams, dedicated their time to clean up public areas, tourism spots and buildings across the town. The motive of the activity not just involved cleaning but also spreading awareness about disposing waste responsibly. The collected waste that weighed 7500 Kilos was segregated based on the type and was handed over to the Panchayat.

A team of 10 volunteers from TCE organized a session on ‘Importance of Tree Plantation and Effects of Soil Erosion" for the students of government PU College, Rajanakunte. 160 students were a part of this knowledgeable session which was followed by interactive and fun-filled recreational activities. These activities proved to be fun and educative as the volunteers made efforts to explain complicated concepts to students with simple examples.

Volunteers along with their family members with the help of the NGO - Ride for Cause, spent time revamping a government school building in Nelahal, Tumkur District in Karnataka. The team actively participated in creating vivid and colorful cartoons figures, trees, birds, etc. The school kids also joined hands with the volunteers, further making it a fun and memorable event.

A Walk to Create a Socially Conscious Village

To mark the International Women’s Day this year, group of volunteers from Tata Metaliks organized a rally from the TML Factory Gate to Gokulpur village, covering small villages and hamlets of the area. The volunteers held placards of slogans to educate the residents to put an end to child marriage and other socially pressing issues like education, gender equality and stopping the menace of alcoholism. Young women, key panchayat leaders and many members of the communities joined the rally and supported the vision of the volunteers.

Digitization has made our lives easier, but it has also created a breeding place to cybercrimes and frauds. An online session conducted by the TML volunteers focused on making the trainees of the Metaliks Skill Development Centre aware of such crimes. A detailed presentation that explained the dos & don’ts of social media, common fraud patterns of fake websites and online banking sites along with issues like hacking and identifying sham websites, were discussed. Most importantly they were also made aware about the process of lodging a complain to the cyber security cell incase encountered with a cyber fraud.

Tata Steel volunteers visited the school children of Antyodya Ashram, a leprosy colony in Jamshedpur. The volunteers taught the children basic etiquettes through fun activities and games. The children were also provided healthy snacks towards the end of the session.

Energy Conservation at Police Station

Rural areas like Mhawad face power issues frequently. Main service institutes like police stations although have installed inverters but still suffer due to the lack of battery backup.To address this issue, volunteers from TPREL visited the Mhawad Police Station and other institutes to make them aware of the tips they can use to conserve the battery power of the inverters, thus having a back-up that lasts long even on days with longer periods of power cuts.

Health Awareness Session with high school students

A team of volunteers from TPREL in collaboration with Niramaya Health Foundation, organised a health awareness session for the students of Devapur High School, Satara. The session especially focused on educating girls about health, hygiene and sanitation. The activities involved setting up hand wash machines and sanitary napkins dispensers along with the display of sanitation and hygiene related informative posters.

A Motivational Talk to Empower Rural Women

The volunteers of TPREL along with the police department, Grampanchayats, Self-help Groups and partner organization, Bosco organized a motivation talk for the rural women of Solapur. The Superintendent of Police, Mrs. Tejaswi Satpute, shed light on topics like women safety, legal provisions and rights entitled to women. She also motivated them to focus on financial independence and management by attaining skills that will help them create better opportunities for them.
