Indian Hotels

Coimbatore : On 9th March, Vivanta by Taj Surya, Coimbatore took up the initiative of educating the railway contracted staffs about hygiene and cleanliness. A basic awareness was given to the contracted staff along with a demonstration. They were taught about the dos and don’ts in their daily works, which will improve their work habits so that it will reflect for a better society. On the same day, an event was organized to share NilavembuKashayam/Kudineer with all associates. Nilavembu Kashayam/Kudineeris a herbal concoction found to be effective in curing all types of persistent fevers has been recommended by the Government of Tamil Nadu as a remedy for dengue, bird flu etc.

Chennai : The associates from Taj Club House, Chennai conducted a cleaning drive at Friends In Need Society (Old Age Home) premises. The cleaning activity started at 3.30 pm and went on till 5.30 pm on both days. There were 25 participants and they cleaned the garden area, 30 rooms and walls and washrooms.

Manglore : The Gateway Hotel, Mangalore, celebrated Tata Volunteering Week-III initiative at the PRAJNA Counselling Centre, Mangalore.A team of associates from our hotel went to their premises in Mangalore. The team addressed all the children and staff of this NGO and created awareness on how to protect from "Swine Flu (H1N1)" influenza. We also showed a presentation on the same. At the end, we served refreshments to all. The NGO thanked us for visiting their premises and sharing the valuable information on "Swine Flu (H1N1)" influenza, which they felt was very useful.

Banglore : Taking forward the campaigns for the Tata Volunteering Week III, Vivanta by Taj - MG Road Bangalore, organized a session on nutrition for the underprivileged students at BREADS, Bangalore on March 12, 2015. The session was followed by a live cooking demonstration by Chef Mahesh Babu emphasizing on the healthy options of eating. The volunteers from Westside, Commercial Street, Bangalore joined in organizing fun games for the students. The session proved to be a fruitful experience for around 50 students from the hospitality and retail domain of the NGO.

Cape Town, South Africa : On Sunday, 1 March 2015, Cape Town was hit with an uncontrollable fire that spread as far as 5000 hectares.On Wednesday, 4 March, Taj Cape Town made contact with the various fire stations and volunteer organisations to establish where help was needed. At that time the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) indicated that they need vegetables and fruits for animals that are rescued from the mountains, linen and energy drinks & bars for the fire fighters and other volunteers. Therefore, our associates came together to assist where we could and dropped off the requested items at the SPCA.The Taj Cape Town has been associated with the Amy Biehl Foundation for the past four years, it's a city based non-profit organisation which is based in the impoverished areas of Cape Town. They supported the Amy Biehl Foundation with the 38th annual Cape Town Cycle Tour, in support of raising funds to empower youth (5 - 18 years of age) living in the challenged and vulnerable communities within the Western Cape. This year, 80 riders cycled for Amy Biehl.

Lusaka, Zambia : A team of Volunteers and Peer Educators from Taj Pamodzi Hotel, all with artistic skills, were glad to offer their services to the City of Hope children.The TPH team donated drawing materials of crayons, pencils, erasers and paper and sweetened this gift with lollipops and balloons.The children were asked to participate in an art competition, drawing what they wished to be when they grew up.They took their task seriously and bowed down to some concentrated efforts of drawing.The volunteers from TPH went around during the competition, offering their advice and counsel as the children drew.There were 3 prizes offered, and the 1st prize went to a young lady who wants to become a teacher when she grows up!The School administrators were delighted with the interest the children showed and proud of their efforts. They thanked the TPH team for their contributions and the inspiration they provided for the vulnerable children.

Rebak Island, Langkawi : On 12th March, the resort extended its volunteerism invitation to Langkawi public and private institutions and also to Malaysian Association of Hotels members with a joint partnership with LIMA (Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace) Exhibition. 200 volunteers from public and private institutions and also to Malaysian Association of Hotels membersgathered in front of LIMA grounds and undertook tasks like deep "GotongRoyong"(cleaning) along the airport areas, where all travellers come from to visit Langkawi and the LIMA surrounding areas. The 200 GotongRoyong team was divided and they set forth with road, drain, parking cleaning from 9:00 till 12:00. The Team was assisted by local authorities who provided cleaning tools, garbage collectors-trucks, etc.

Tata Chemicals

Sriperumbudur : As part of the TVW 3 and International Women’s Day, Tata Chemicals team at Sriperumbudur organized "All Women Meet" in 3 villages (Kiloy, A.N.Kandigai and Ulundai) surrounding its Nutra Plant.SreperumbudurPlant Head (Operations) along with three more managers actively volunteered in various events organised across the two days. Youth volunteers from these villages also came forward in organising the event. As per the Tamil tradition the event started with 'Rangoli Competitions’ followed by various cultural, sports and recreational events like speech, quiz, rangoli, musical chair, throw ball, running race, lemon and spoon, banana eating, bun eating, balloon blasting and memory games. Event ended with gift and memento distribution. The participants expressed their joy and happiness and shared that "after childhood, we are playing games for the first time in life". More than 180 rural women, 30 youths and 60 children from 3 locations participated in the event

Tata Consulting Engineers

Pune : TCE Pune conducted volunteering activities at 3 sites of Door Step School in Pune. The volunteers conducted Safety and Health awareness session including Swine Flu precautions. An arts session was conducted for children illustrating basic drawing & coloring for kids below 6 years of age and Step by Step drawing and painting sessions for those above 6 years. Representatives of Door Step School found the Safety awareness session really informative and thanked TCE for celebrating the TATA volunteering week with their children. They also expressed the wish to work with more volunteers from TCE in the future.

Tata AIG

Hyderabad : TATA AIG Hyderabad opened its hearts out for the education of girl child and the destitute by volunteering at Nanhi Kali and Aram Ghar respectively. Our 4 volunteers from Hyderabad visited a school in Nallagutta area, where the government had allotted a place specifically to be used for the Nanhi Kali Project. The volunteers interacted with the team so as to know the issues faced by them in implementation of the project & how we as a socially responsible organization can help them to attain the noble goal of girl child education. The volunteers also interacted with the "nanhi-kalis", around 90 in number. Urging and motivating them to dream big and telling them how important a part education plays towards a brighter future and why they should involve themselves in the project in all seriousness. The “nanhi-kalis” also interacted and performed “garba” welcoming the team from TATA AIG. The AIG Hyderabad Zone also collectively pooled funds and arranged for basic requirements of Aram Ghar, which provides free services for the destitute, handicapped and persons with chronic diseases

Banglore : On 10th March, 14 of our volunteers from Bangalore, including Zone Head went to Government School at Vasantnagar. The team did an amazing array of activities including giving a new Canon printer and assembling, formatting old PCs and attached printer to it with the help of their IT resource, giving Maps and Charts to the school according to each Grade, making wall chart hangers & arranged and fixed Class Name Display board, distributing pencil box for all and Geometry Box from class 5 to 7 std, cleaning Computer rooms and other class rooms, distributed dust bins & educated all children on Swach Bharat with an emphasis on H1N1 virus (swine flu), arranging drawing competition for the children and got outstanding response from the kids and distributingsnacks. Bangalore Team did something beyond TVW. They have taken an initiative to teach computer on weekly basis to the children of Class 5th to 7th (tentative every Friday for an hour for the rest of the year

Bhopal : On 09.03.2015, our branch people visited the Orphan’s Home at Anand Nagar, Bhopal where they spent quality time with kids teaching them simple things from healthcare to cricket, from education to general knowledge and getting back a bag full of happiness in return. The volunteers educated the kids about prevention and precautions of swine flu, shared information about Mobile network, satellite working and galaxy, discussed about importance of education and job, conducted General Knowledge Quiz, discussed about importance of Newspapers and News Channels, distributed HOLI colours for celebrating RANGPANCHAMI and distributed cricket kits, sweets and refreshments.

Our volunteers visited Government Elementary school on 12th March and created awareness on Swine Flu and basic Hygiene Factors. The students in the age group 5-10yrs and the staff actively participated in the awareness session, smiley's and candies given for the best proactive students. A skit about the swine flu awareness was enacted by our volunteers. As a token of prevention they distributed Face masks for all the students and staffs.

TCS

Bejing, China: On 12th of March 2014, Volunteers from Tata Sons Beijing office and TCS Shanghai jointly participated in a charitable activity, organized by The Library Project, to donate a library to an Orphanage in Chongmingcounty, Shanghai. To improve the learning environment and provide a better future to orphans, Tata companies donated more than 200 books and school supplies.The Orphanage, located in an island 100 kilometers away from Shanghai city, is in urgent need of reading materials and classroom facilities. Understanding their demand, Tata volunteers brought them more than 200 science, fairy tale, and classical books, as well as a variety of school supplies such as sand bags, DVD, globe and art tools. Tata volunteers also helped transform a classroom into the orphanage’s first library for students to read and study in, equipping it with tables, chairs and library materials.

Hangzhou, China :The GoForIT initiative was conducted from Mar 2-6, 2015in Hangzhou, China.Driven and facilitated by China HR team, convened by the TCS China Delivery, Functional and Senior Management teams, the campaign was successfully held in Hangzhou office. 18 young intelligent talents from Hangzhou Top Three Middle schools were selected to join the 5 day learning journey. 24 mentors and volunteers delivered excellent lectures and speeches. All TCS China participants contributed more than 100 voluntary hours to this campaign, which shows their great passion and commitments for the Purpose4life program.

Tata Teleservices

Hyderabad : Tata Teleservices at Hyderabad conducted Life Skill Training Session with NIIT. The session covered the topics like "I have a Dream" session- Youths were asked to pen down their dreams and their aspiration, Confidence building and Motivational Session to enthuse students to build a career, Basic insight on industries and availability of jobs in the market (10th- 12th Pass youths), Mock Interview Session- Group Interview and Feedback session

Chennai : TTL Chennai volunteered at NIIT Foundation on 11th March. Though they had planned for a workshop on MS Excel & MS Powerpoint, demand was raised by the faculty of NIIT Foundation to give motivational speech on developing self-confidence & mentoring on interview skills.The 2 hour session was extended to 3 hours and 30 mins. There were about 18 differently-abledparticipants for this interactive session from NIIT Foundation. A motivational speech on developing self-confidence was followed by session on interview skills, and workshops on MS Excel and Powerpoint

Kerala : On March 9th, volunteers from Kerala went to Rajagiri Foundation & conducted sessions on coaching to students of class Xth.They guided them on preparation of their exams & their career ahead.Another session on entrepreneurial skill development to women entrepreneurs of Rajagiri outreach was also conducted by them.

Tata Motors

Mumbai: Tata Motors senior leadership signed the TVW-3 pledge wall on 12th March at their Bombay House office, leading by example and encouraging employees to volunteer during TVW-3

Dharwad: Employee volunteers of Tata Motors Dharwad gifted about 50 nos. of Learning Kits to school students at Mummigatti Govt. School on 13th March 2015 as a part of TVW3 celebrations. These Learning Kits were gifted out of voluntary monetary contributions made by employees across TML locations. Also, a Session on Career guidance was conducted as part of the event.

Jamshedpur:An Awareness Session on Save the Girl Child and Educate the Girl Childward jointly deployed by Tata Motors and Tata Power CSR teams at villages near Jamshedpur. In addition, Health Check-up Camps were conducted by retired employees of Tata Motors and Tata Technologies at Bohradih and Bandih villages near Jamshedpur on 12th March 2015 as part of TVW3 at Radhagoda School in Jamshedpur, Tata Motors volunteers conducted sessions on Safety Awareness and Value Education for school students. Tata Motors employees also organized a cleanliness drive under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Lupungdih with Primitive Tribes

Mumbai:Tata Motors Employee Volunteers conduced a session on Personality Development for students studying in Govt. Municipal Schools at Kalina, Mumbai in collaboration with NGO SHED.
