About Tata Volunteering Week II

Tata Volunteering Week II or TVW II (which we extended to a month, on public demand, from 5th September to 4th October, 2014) saw large participation not only from Tata employees, but also their families and retired Tata employees. Over the period of one month, 20,000+ volunteers participated in 500+ activities across the globe as the Tata Engage community grew to a total of 55,000+ volunteers, 100+ companies and 1,000+ locations. A few glimpses of the kinds of volunteering activities undertaken by our volunteers can be seen below. Many more photos and testimonials from our volunteers are available at the Experience Hub and our Facebook page.

Apart from family participation for the first time, TVW II witnessed a number of Tata companies coming together to collaborate on social causes, thereby creating larger impact.

Examples of such collaborations during TVW II included:

  • In Canada, volunteers from Tata Sons, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Global Beverages, Tata Communications and Jaguar Land Rover helped unpack, sort and distribute 20,000 new books to children in need in the Greater Toronto Area, in collaboration with First Book Canada.

  • In Mumbai, volunteers from Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Starbucks, Tata Consulting Engineers and CMC came together to undertake beach cleaning activities after the immersion of clay idols during a popular festival, at Juhu Beach and Girgaum Chowpatty.

  • In Kolkata, around 150 mjunction employees were supported by 20 family members and 50 employee volunteers from Tata Communications, Tata Teleservices, Tata AIA and Taj, Kolkata in undertaking volunteering at multiple partner organizations.

Such collaborations are unique to Tata, and will be a major strength of Tata Engage going forward.
