60 volunteers from Tata Communications, Chennai organized learning sessions on science and technology and computer literacy for class 8 students from a government school. The students also got an opportunity to visit the telecom, TV and power operations facilities of Tata Communications. The day ended with fun and games, equally enjoyed by the students and the volunteers.

100 volunteers from Tata Communications, Pune and their family members spent a day at Pani Panchayat engaging in farming, watershed management and interacting with farmers. The volunteers had an opportunity to harvest vegetables, cook food and share a meal with the community. They also participated in sessions on water management, water footprint and composting of food waste.

Volunteers from Tata Communications in Pune participated in a unique activity as they bonded with the community through drumming and music. The volunteers interacted with 66 women from the community, sharing experiences and understanding more about the community needs and challenges. 87 volunteers participated in the activity.

Volunteers from Tata Communications, Delhi observed World Sparrow Day on 20th March by preparing water feeders for birds. 55 volunteers made 57 bird feeders. These feeders will be handed over to schools and will be maintained by the school children as a community project.

International Women’s Day was celebrated at all the locations of BridgeIT program. This event was celebrated at Lucknow, Nalanda, Cuttack and Jhansi with 36 women entrepreneurs of BridgeIT across these locations. The event started with the Module Leads narrating the history of women’s day. A medical professional was invited to conduct a session on Health and hygiene and nutrition which was found immensely useful to the women. At certain locations short films on children’s education and women’s empowerment were also shown. The women’s day celebrations witnessed entrepreneurs making drawings, singing songs, sharing their inner fears and achievements. It was a gratifying experience for these rural women entrepreneurs who otherwise do not get a platform or space to share their feelings and showcase their skills other than the work they do.

9 volunteers from TCE visited Navjeevan Prathamik School, i.e. school for street kids in Thane. Volunteers played differed games with the students of schools followed by storytelling session and concluded the program by singing prayer together. All the volunteers had a great time.

Volunteers from Taj West End, Bangalore visited Bosco Yuvakendra. Bosco Centre concentrates on youth between the age group of 14-18 years. It is mainly for youth, who require support to secure employment, apprenticeship or acquire a vocational skill leading to job placement. Keeping in view of the same, volunteers from Taj West End and Tata STRIVE provided counselling session and career guidance to the children of Bosco Yuvakendra about the vocational courses offered at the centre in Bangalore. Children have shown interest to join F&B service, Food Production & Housekeeping courses.

Part of the ongoing Volunteering Season, representatives from Nav Prabhuti Trust were invited to put up a Handcraft Sale for the associates to participate in the fundraising event. The items for sale included Hand Block Printed Saris, Bed Sheets. Pillow Covers, Bags, Pouches, Stoles, Potlis; Handmade Ear Rings, etc. The NGO team made a whopping sale of over Rs. 10,000 at the end of the day.

The team conducted a special session on menstrual health, hygiene and women empowerment. They shared views about girls and women using a clean menstrual management material. They spoke on ensuring hygienic condition with regular changing of pads /cloths, using soap and water for washing and cleaning body parts. They appreciated knowledge sharing, took learning and also interacted for clearing various misconceptions about period days. There was also an interactive session on women empowerment for little girls with dreams become women with a vision. They explained that today women are participating fully in economic life, achieving their goals. They are improving the quality of life for themselves and their family members.

The activity started with an introduction of Tata and their involvement into bringing professional opportunities for women. Manager, L&D gave a motivational speech on career with Tata’s and in hospitality. Many volunteers talked about their specific roles and how to achieve that. It followed up with question answer session where in team interacted with individuals to offer clarity on various opportunity viz a viz their current skills. There were more than 55 girls, pursuing different courses like stenography, cosmetology, fashion designing, interior designing, sewing and stitching and various computer courses.

The volunteers carried in house developed placard; talking about slogans on spreading public awareness on water conservation and environment for sustainable development. The over enthusiastic team raised noisy slogans throughout the march past which was so impressive that even public and commuters also got motivated and joined us. The passing by school buses full of young students waved to the volunteers in high spirit. During March past it was quite evident that the commuters can relate with the issue raised. They not only stopped aside but also appreciated team by joining in slogan chanting.

The L&D manager guided the learners of Hospitality course students on Careers in Hospitality. Students from Antarang and Tata Strive were guided by the volunteer on career opportunities in Hospitality sectors. The volunteer gave her own examples which was very motivating for the learners. They all had many questions which got cleared during the session. Everyone was happy and highly motivated.

JUSCO PHHS departments volunteers organized to distribute organic compost for farmers of Parbatipur village. They distributed organic compose to each female and male farmer. Volunteers distributed 20 packets of organic compose and they gave awareness session about how to use it properly.

JUSCO HR/IR volunteers made a visit to the Cheshire Home at Sundarnangar and spent a lot of time with the differently abled residents there. The team gave away essentials like sugar, rice, pulses, cleaning items, biscuit, Horlicks, fruits which were of utmost necessity for them. Volunteers wholeheartedly interacted with them which made this the best part of their day.

JUSCO PHHS, CSR department volunteers organized a Medical Camp at Talsa village, which included of general check-up and distribution of supplements and necessary medicines for villagers. This camp also included an awareness campaign where our team enlightened the villagers about health, hygiene and sanitation. They also distributed organic compose to village farmers for agriculture.

Rallis volunteers have conducted pottery workshop at Kolkhe village near Panvel. Volunteers arranged one potter to teach various types of pots & Diyas out of red soil on wheel. Children made various types of Diyas with the help of potter. Volunteers also have made Diyas on wheel. The event ended with gifting of one big flower pot made by potter to each student on children’s request.

TATA AIA Life Insurance Thane Office team visited Anudhanik Prathamik Ashram School, Near Chirner village –Uran. The team interacted with kids and school authorities and distributed clothes, toys, stationary items and eatables amongst the children. The team also conducted some fun activities to cheer them up and bring smiles on their faces.

Tata Chemicals organized NCC coaching camp at Government Girl’s School at Village Arambhad. The girl students were informed about NCC and also training given on self-defence. The coaching given by TCL’s retiree employees. 30 girls from 5th standard to 8th standard participated in this coaching camp.

Tata Chemicals organized an eye camp for rural artisan at Shree Dwarkadhish Eye Hospital, Arambhada. The volunteers helped in the registration and OPD during the camp. 82 rural artisans were examined and needed artisans were provided medicine and vision glasses.

A "Plastic-free Mithapur" campaign was launched by TCL volunteers as part of the TVW-9 program. The campaign included a door to door awareness drive on the harmful impacts of plastic carry-bags on local biodiversity and ecosystems. The Mithapur region features a rich natural heritage including wildlife and marine life. Cloth bags were distributed amongst the residents and their support requested for conservation of the local biodiversity.

Volunteers conducted a skill test fest through various engagement drive at slum women skill training centre and felicitated the winner of the respective category. The activities like mehendi competition, computer knowledge, poster competition over environment, tagging of tools and instruments at skill training centre and health hygiene. Seniors felicitated the winner with medal for the respective category.

Volunteers in coordination with partner organization conducted the health check-up camp for the malnourished children in the outreach villages. The medicines, medical consultant and advisory were provided free of cost to the underprivileged communities.

Celebration of International Women’s Day was organized by Tata Power Community Development Trust in association with BVDU Social Sciences Centre and Samaj Vikas Sanstha. A small stage play was performed by members of Sakhi WSHG and students of BVDU Social Sciences Centre spreading the message and urging audiences to restrict their family size to minimum and not to fall prey to obsession for male child. Play also had objective to send a strong message to avoid pre-natal tests and female feticide.

Tata Projects, Krishnapatnam project has taken an initiative on developing women entrepreneurs at Nelaturu village to develop entrepreneurial abilities. It also refers to inculcation, development and polishing of entrepreneurial skills into a person needed to establish and successfully run her enterprise. Thus, the concept of entrepreneurship development programme involves equipping a person with the required skills and knowledge needed for starting and running the enterprise. The main purpose of entrepreneurship development programme is to widen the base of entrepreneurship by development achievement motivation and entrepreneurial skills among the less privileged sections of the society. The volunteers distributed certificates and interacted with the trained women in the village and noted the aspiration from the participants about their future to develop as entrepreneur.

A group of volunteers of Tata Sponge have visited Karansahi Anganwadi centre, Bileipada in Joda block of Keonjhar district in Odisha. They were made aware to raise the level of awareness among children about hand washing with soap each day as an important step in the prevention of diseases. The children, workers of Anganwadi centre and mothers joined the programme.

Tata Sponge Safety Dept. had organized a “Road Safety Campaign” at Bileipada. Around 21 volunteers participated. They counselled the drivers of two wheelers and four wheelers and convinced them to wear helmet and seat belt while driving.

Tata Steel Wire Division organized exposure visit of Female SHG Groups. The purpose was to encourage the women to undertake income generation activities as alternate livelihood opportunities it term of vegetable cultivation and poultry farm. The group was then taken to 4 SHG groups village to provide them insight on Income Generation Programme (IGP) which included demonstration of Mogra cultivation, goat and poultry farming. The women SHG members found the visit to be very inspiring when they met fellow women in other villages successfully leading federations, growing and driving change in their own villages.

A free medical health check-up camp was organized by Wires Division in collaboration with TMRCT Thunga Hospital at Dhamatne Khaniwade. The objective of the camp was to provide information regarding diet, exercise and nutrition food. Free medicines were provided to those who were diagnosed with HTN and or DM and advised them to follow up with their local doctors or Public Health Centers.

Employees of NBM JDC visited Primary School Bhuridih and interacted with the tribal children. The team explained the basics of hand wash and emphasized the importance of education. The students were divided into groups and they played some indoor games and antakshari. The team also distributed sports shoes for each child.
