  Operation Smile Tata Sons & Tata Consultancy Services  |  China
 
From September 2nd to September 7th, 2016, 5 volunteers from Tata Sons, TCS participated in “CCAFC Operation Smile 2016 Shandong International Mission”, which is jointly organized by Youth Federation of Shandong Province, Qianfoshan Hospital of Shangdong Province and Operation Smile. Tata volunteers worked with the medical staff, assisting to screen qualified patients, taking pre/post-surgery pictures for patients, managing patients’ files, and providing translation service and other relevant assistances in operation room, recovery room and ward zone. In the Mission, around 116 patients received examinations and 85 of them accepted free surgeries. In order to let the patients, who suffered from cleft lip or cleft palate, to receive best medical services and technique, Tata volunteers showed high spirit of selflessness and dedication, they worked hand in hand with doctors and nurses from China, America, Britain, Australia, Mexico and Paraguay and volunteers from Johnson & Johnson, Fluor and Michael Page.
 
  Building a house Tata Chemicals  |  North America
 
Tata Chemicals North America partnered with Habitat for Humanity in New Jersey. The volunteers helped to build a house that will be a new home for a returning soldier. The house was designed by an architect to be a "Net Zero" house which means it will have a neutral effect on the environment once it's completed.
 
  Dental check-up program Tata Tinplate  |  Jamshedpur
 
A dental check-up program was organised for students of grade 5 of Tinplate Andhra Middle School. A dental surgeon from Tinplate Hospital examined all the students. The dental health conditions of 100 students were captured which would subsequently be sent to their parents to seek medical attention of those children who have severe dental problem. Six Graduate Trainees & CSR team participated in the program by providing support service and explaining to the students the importance of good dental health practices & oral hygiene. A set of Dental Kit was provided to each student.
 
  Visit to an old age home Tata Steel Processing & Distribution  |  Kolkata
 
A team of 10 people from TSPDL visited Prem Daan, a Centre which is managed & run by the Missionaries of Charity. Prem Daan primarily houses destitute from the streets of Kolkata & around. The team spent nearly 4 hours in Prem Daan spending quality time with the inmates, talking to them, laughing with them & listening to their stories. The team also helped with cleaning of the walkways, drying the clothes, making the beds of the inmates and tending to their needs. Team TSPDL had carried goody bags for all the inmates (approximately 450) consisting of biscuits, juice, wafers and chocolate. These were thoroughly enjoyed by the inmates. The team also helped in serving lunch to the people and helped in feeding the inmates who were unable to do so on their own.

Volunteers from HRM JDC visited the Rajasthan Vidyalaya and organised a birthday celebration for the children of the school. The Sports Department organised sports activities walkathon and tug of war for the contract workers. An Eye and Dental Check-up camp was organised for the children of Joda Basti Primary School. A team of employees visited the Shishu Bhawan and donated essentials to the children. Food without fire programme was organised by the Aviation department for the parents of Bal Vikas Children at Agrico Centre.
 
  Providing financial information to women Tata Sponge Iron   |  Odisha
 
A group of twenty volunteers visited Kolhahundula, a tribal village in Joda block of Keonjhar district in Odisha. During the visit, the volunteers motivated the villagers specially women to develop a habit of savings and to promote group savings through formation of Self-Help Groups, which could be utilized during their crisis.
 
  Blood donation drive Tata Motors  |  Mumbai
 
54 employees of Tata Motors voluntarily came forward and donated blood in a blood donation drive organized at Tata Motors Thane Office in collaboration with Blood Bank of Tata Memorial (Cancer) Hospital - Parel, Mumbai.
 
  Visit to Cheshire home Tata Motors  |  Jamshedpur
 
A team from Frame Factory and from Construction and Engine Division visited Cheshire Home- a care home for differently abled people. The team interacted with the residents, cheering them up by playing and conversing with them. The team assessed the needs of the home, and also bought their products which the home sells, like candles and cards. Additionally, the team supported the home with donations.
 
  Visit to a school Tata Motors  |  Jamshedpur
 
Volunteers visited the Ramakrishna Mission Boarding School which houses and educates children from underprivileged backgrounds. The volunteers joined in prayers with the children and the Monk, played football with the children and assessed the needs of the children and promised to come next time with the materials required like sports kit, play instrument, study materials, instrument boxes, umbrellas, jerseys and others.
 
  Blood donation camp Tata Housing  |  Mumbai
 
Tata Housing partnered with Indian Red Cross Society for a Blood Donation Camp which saw 20 employees participation. This will be used for the thalassemia children.
 
  Food Drive Tata Business Support Services  |  Hyderabad
 
10 Tata BSS volunteers organised a food drive in one of the employee’s house backyard in Hyderabad. They prepared dinner for 500 people and served them to the needy and poor people in the area.
 
  Blood donation drive Tata Business Support Services  |  Chennai
 
23 Tata BSS volunteers participated in blood donation camp in Chennai. The volunteers believe that every time they donated blood they save up to 4 lives. In spite of the employees being in the night shift they came early morning to donate blood.
 
  Making science toys with the children Rallis India  |  Mumbai
 
Rallis volunteers helped in making Science Toys to help understand basic concepts of science for the grade 7 students from Z P School Barvai. Science expert from Marathi Vidnyan Parishad taught various toys like Flickering fish (Burnoly principal), Para shoot, dancing pencil (Maglev theory), friction and magnetic spring through which students learned various basic concepts of science and they enjoyed a lot as it has reduced the fear of science subject in their mind. Volunteers also enjoyed helping them to make toys.
 
  Beautician course training for women Rallis India  |  Mumbai
 
Rallis India Volunteers organized a 6 day - Beautician Course training for women group of villages near by Panvel. The activity was conducted at Jivan Vikas Kendra. This course was focused on motivating women to do home based business to increase their family income and self-independence. The beautician taught them various skills like threading, head massage, facial, waxing and Make up. She also taught them business techniques on how to make the business sustainable. Volunteers helped the women in practicing these skills and shared customers’ requirements so that they can give best to the customers.
 
  Creating awareness on environment Rallis India  |  Lote
 
A group of 6 Volunteers including the Unit head visited Nutan Vidyalaya, Lote to conduct a session on Environment Protection for the students of grade 5 and 7. The volunteers made a power point presentation with video clips on Environment protection, types of pollution, steps to control pollution, noise pollution at schools etc. The Unit head addressed the students and briefed on the role of students in controlling noise pollution at schools and how to keep the school premises and class room neat and clean. Total 182 students were participated in the training session. A question answer session was also arranged on Environment Protection.
 
  Medical camp JUSCO  |  Jamshedpur
 
JUSCO flagged off Tata Engage Volunteering Week 6 with a visit to Gurukul, Sapra which houses fifty orphan children. Volunteers organized a medical camp for the children and also donated a first aid kit keeping in mind the medical needs of the children. Thereafter, they also planted fruit trees of different varieties. The children were delighted to receive chocolates and biscuit packets.
 
  Distribution of books JUSCO  |  Jamshedpur
 
Volunteers from JUSCO joined hands to visit Prathamik Vidyalaya, Adityapur for distributing writing books, educational kits and chocolates to all the children which brought a big smile on their faces. The team also planted fruit trees of different varieties along with the children and enlightened them on how to take care of these plants and make the environment green.

A green initiative was taken by volunteers of JUSCO at Rajkiyakrit Jamshedpur Balika Uchcha Vidyalaya, Sakchi, and Tapti Road. The team along with the school girls planted seasonal fruit trees to beautify the school. Thereafter, a debate competition was also organized for the senior classes of the school and the winners were awarded with prizes sponsored by our team.150 school girls were also distributed pens as a token of love.
 
  Drawing competition for children JUSCO  |  Jamshedpur
 
Volunteers from JUSCO united to visit NPS Bantanagar Primary School, Adityapur and organized a drawing competition for the children. The team took part in making a tough decision of judging this competition and distributed prizes to the best three. Thereafter, they distributed writing books and pencil sets to each of the children for their daily academic use. The visit ended on a sweet note by distributing some chocolates and goodies to all the children.
 
  Awareness on recycling Indian Hotels  |  Coimbatore
 
The volunteers visited SNR College to create awareness about reduce, reuse & recycle to around 80 students. They also distributed Vegetable seeds, Recycle Bags & Pamphlets with tips to follow in Home & Office. They educated them on the importance of recycling for the environment, and how each person can make a difference for a better world by recycling.
 
  Music competition for children JUSCO  |  Jamshedpur
 
Volunteers from JUSCO made the day brighter for the students of SN High School with music and fun. A music competition was organized by our team where students sang soulful numbers and enjoyed themselves. Prizes were given for the best ones. Thereafter, an awareness program was conducted on stress management where students were told how they can prevent stress coming their way in times of academic pressure.
 
  Cleanliness drive Indian Hotels  |  Aurangabad
 
Team Vivanta by Taj Aurangabad Maharashtra initiated a cleanliness drive in the Aurangabad Caves. The Aurangabad caves are twelve artificial rock-cut Buddhist shrines located on a hill running roughly east to west, nearly 2 km north from Bibi Ka Maqbara in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
 
  Career Counselling Indian Hotels  |  Amritsar
 
A career counselling session was organised at Deep Mission, a NGO based in Amritsar. Deep Mission supports children from the family below the poverty line and sponsors their education and living. The associates of Taj Amritsar spoke to the students of Deep Mission about hotel management as a career option and also ensured assistance if they are interested for training in the hotel. There were 18 participants and the activity continued for 3 and half hours.
 
  Cleanliness drive Indian Hotels  |  Amritsar
 
The associates of Taj Amritsar initiated a cleaning drive in and around the hotel and spruced up the area. There were 37 participants and the drive continued for 2 hours. Every associate was enthusiastic, motivated and volunteering participated in this cleaning drive.

With an aim to contribute to the environment, a group of 17 Volunteers team planted saplings of fruit & flowers in Raheja Square Mall and hotel premises where each volunteer contributed their best towards the mother earth.
 
  Visit to an old age home Ginger Hotels  |  Vizag
 
12 Volunteers from Ginger Hotel Vizag visited Vanaprastam, an old age home that provides shelter for 30 residents. They conducted a session on personal hygiene, cleanliness and sanitation. The volunteers interacted with the senior residents who shared their life's experience. Reusable towels & pillow covers were distributed to them.
 
  Awareness on waste management Coastal Gujarat Power  |  Mundra
 
The volunteers from the CGPL partnered with an NGO - Sahajeevan to orient the students of the Tunda school on Waste Management and the importance of Health & Hygiene. During the session, the students were explained good practices of Waste Management. The students were shown pictorial charts, told stories and also encouraged to conduct periodical awareness on the health and hygiene practices. The school teachers were also briefed on how to promote and support activities for segregation of waste at source, how to establish mechanism for systematic collection and handling of waste, usage of appropriate technology for management of bio-degradable waste; process for recycling of non bio-degradable waste, recycling domestic waste water for productive use or for recharge.
