  Donating education kits Titan  |  Mumbai
 
Two volunteers (an employee and his spouse) visited the Municipal Girls Marathi School at Barve Nagar , Ghatkopar to distribute education kits. They started with the "Swagatam" song sung by the school girls. Two girls gave a very small speech. A poem on "Mother" was recited. The volunteers addressed the parents and encouraged the girls to complete their education, they instilled the importance of a girl in a family getting educated. They emphasized that the parents should allow and encourage their daughters to pursue their interest.
 
  Cleanliness drive Titan  |  Mumbai
 
9 volunteers of Titan Company Limited, Mumbai, reached Juhu Beach at 7:30 am to clean the beach post Anant Chaturdashi (Ganpati Visarjan). The drive was carried out for 3 hours and all the volunteers enjoyed filling the garbage bags and felt proud of their achievement post the activity.
 
  Dental check-up Tata Tinplate  |  Jamshedpur
 
A dental check-up program for 100 students of Std 2 & 3 of Vidya Jyoti Tinplate High School was organized. A Dental Surgeon from Tinplate Hospital examined all students. Dental health conditions of 100 students were captured which would subsequently be sent to their parents to seek medical attention of those children having severe dental problem. Medical team from Tinplate Hospital along with volunteers from TCIL participated in the program by providing support service and explaining students about good dental health practices & oral hygiene. A set of Dental Kit was provided to each student.

A team from LP planning visited Primary School Harisunderpur and interacted with the students and distributed sports items and also donated sapling to each students for the plantation. Employees from Administration and other departments of Tata Steel, Noamundi Iron Mine, extended their helping hands to 25 needy students of Padmavati Jain Saraswati Sishu Mandir, Noamundi, to get them School bags, tiffin boxes, water bottles, pens, pencils, note books, etc. to enable the students to continue their study.

A team from OMQ Noamundi visited Adivasi Vikas Samiti, a residential school for orphan children run by Padmashree Smt Tulsi Munda a renouned social worker. Around 300 girls and 500 boys study in the school from class I to 10 and reside in the hostel. Blood grouping, Eye scanning, dental check-up was done for the students. An awareness talk on HIV Aids organise by the Tubes Division for the truck drivers and the officers of Tubes. A team visited Shiv Shankar High School at Azad Basti, Joda. Eye scanning and dental check-up was done for all the children by Joda medical team and health awareness lessons taught among the children.

Procurement Dept. of Tata Steel Kalinganagar organised a career counselling session for students of Class IX and X of Gobarghati School. The team guided the students about various educational programmes and career options to the students of Class IX and X. The team had an engaging and interactive session with the students.

  Cleanliness drive Tata Consulting Engineers  |  Mumbai
 
Tata Consulting Engineers organized a cleanliness drive on Juhu Beach in Mumbai. Post Ganapati Visarjan, the beach is sprawled with waste materials abandoned after the celebrations and the washed up fragments of the immersed idols add to the sorry sight. 27 TCE employees and employee family gathered to clean the beach and put in great efforts to unearth and respectfully dispose of the idol fragments.

To tame the gargantuan mammoth of illiteracy, a unique concept of IT based adult literacy program is introduced by Tata Consultancy Services. As a part of this initiative, TCS has developed CBFL tool that helps the learners to become literate in just 50 hours. The TCS associates at Lucknow have taken-up the responsibility of making the office support staff literate using CBFL tool. The learners are elated to read and write while the volunteers are content to create a positive impact by empowering the people around them.

IT Employability Program is one of the flagship AA program of TCS that aims to transform the marginalized students of rural Engineering colleges into smart professionals through sustainable volunteering efforts. The associates at TCS Lucknow devoted an entire weekend to hone the communication skills of the students of Feroze Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology, Raebareli.
 
  Cleanliness drive Tata Communications  |  Mumbai
 
50 enthusiastic volunteers from Tata Communications took part in a cleanliness drive at Dadar Chowapatty to remove all the plastic bags, garlands and other garbage left behind during the immersion process at the end of the 11 day Ganapati Festival. Most of the trash is highly damaging to the biodiversity of the beach. The volunteers had a very organized approach of cleaning one entire patch wherein few volunteers gathered the garbage at certain locations and others picked it up and deposited in the garbage bags - a great example of synergy and team work. The activity made other people sensitive and aware about their responsibility towards their surroundings and environment. The BMC workers present on the beach were very impressed with our committed volunteering.

A group of 20 children from the Happy Feet Home visited the Croma store at R-City Mall, Ghatkopar – Mumbai. The day started with an ice breaker game, followed by a movie screening and snacks, to create a complete theatre feel and the children were then taken for a floor walk at the store and later around the mall. The children were from Happy Feet Home, who provides a support system for children undergoing treatment for HIV and Thalassemia at the Sion hospital, Mumbai. The centre provides them with counselling sessions, a platform to engage in art, dance, games and exercises.

The Croma store employees from Mumbai volunteered for a “Beach Clean Up” initiative with 29 enthusiastic volunteers – 27 from across Croma stores in Mumbai and 2 volunteers from Tata Interactive Systems. Teams of two were formed to pick up the garbage and broken idols accumulated on the beach after the Ganesh Visarjan. Close to 25 garbage bags were collected and deposited at the BMC Garbage bins.

A cleanliness drive was organised by Taj Lake Palace at the Government Upper Primary School at Upali Badi wherein the volunteers including associates and their family members did cleaning and painting at the School. This school is in a rural area and people out there, have less awareness about cleanliness and hygiene. They first cleaned the school area and then painted it Volunteers spoke to the children to make them aware about the purpose and importance of cleanliness in our daily lives.

A cleaning drive was organised at Heritage Lake near Talab gate. There were around 120 volunteers there. All the garbage near the lake was collected and taken away and the nearby rocky area was cleaned with the help of broomsticks and cleaning equipment. Each and every department participated in this activity along with their department heads vey enthusiastically.
 
  Career guidance for girls Ginger Hotels  |  Pantnagar
 
8 Volunteers from Ginger Hotel Pantnagar visited Vanvasi Kanya Chatravaas Samiti, an orphanage home that provides shelter for 65 girl residents. The volunteers conducted a session on career guidance, with some snacks and a motivational movie. The volunteers interacted with the residents who shared their life's experiences. Reusable towels were distributed to them.

22 Volunteers from Team Ginger Mysore cleaned the surrounding area of the Chamundi Temple. They cleared the waste empty water bottles, paper plates, waste plastic covers and cleaned the main road of the temple. Devotees are very happy with this activity.

Ginger Hotel- Indore team of 19 members organized a personal hygiene, grooming, cleanliness training in a school “Atri Devi Govt Primary School”. This is a school of 400 children which is situated in Sudama Nagar, Indore. They shared Personal Hygiene, Grooming, Cleanliness details and also distributed 30 Ginger personal Kit comprising of soap, comb, hand wash, shampoo, moisturizer, tooth paste and tooth brush to them.

14 Volunteers from Ginger Hotel, Goa visited Govt High School at Merces, Tiswadi and interacted with the students. The volunteers shared their journey to Tourism & Hospitality industry and also their experience with the students. Volunteers along with students conducted a cleanliness drive in the school premises. They played football and concluded the day with a small snack party.
