TATA VOLUNTEERING WEEK 5 Update No. 19
 
  Blood donation drive Tata Consultancy Services  |  Bhubaneshwar
 
Blood Donation Camp was conducted by Maitree TCS Bhubaneswar in association with Red Cross Society. 90 Associates from various projects volunteered to donate blood. A team from Red Cross society conducted the camp successfully. All the donors received certificate and life donor card for their contribution.
 
  Visit to an orphanage Tata Consultancy Services  |  Bhubaneshwar
 
A team of TCS volunteers visited ‘Asha Kiran’, ‘Ishwar’ and ‘Ashraya’ Orphanage and interacted with the children to understand their difficulties and see what help can be rendered to them for their education & health. Some games and singing, quiz and rhyme competition was organized. The children enjoyed a lot. They were also given some valuable tips on health & sanitation by the volunteers.
 
  Skill Development for girls Tata Technologies   |  Pune
 
The Community Service team along with Pune’s leading Skill Development agency “Smart Champs” conducted a session for 40 Lila Poonawalla Foundation girls. This session included topics like Employability Skills, Clarity about different careers, Necessity of knowledge orientation and Importance of adoption of change. Through these topics, the volunteers hope the girls will realize their potential and be confident in professional working environment that is applicable in various sectors like IT, engineering companies, corporates, and multinational, manufacturing company’s environment. A special activity called “Survival Scenario” for girls was organised to brain storm and come up with different survival scenarios with the help of their team members.
 
  Visit to an orphanage APPL  |  Assam
 
The volunteering team visited an orphanage in Dibrugarh which is managed by International Brotherhood Mission, a Buddhist organisation. There are 110 residents and 20 staff members in the orphanage and the estate management team distributed fruits, cakes and chocolates to all the children. The team spent quality time with the children.
 
  Visit to a school APPL  |  Assam
 
The volunteers visited Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya which is a school wherein girls from underprivileged families of the neighboring villages & tea estates are given free education with free hostel facility from grade six to eight. The team distributed fruits amongst the students of the school. After that, cleaning of the school campus was done by the volunteers wherein students & teachers of the school also participated. Plantation of trees at the school campus was also done during the programme to create awareness on environment amongst the students.
 
  Cleanliness drive Ginger Hotels  |  Chennai
 
The volunteers spent time cleaning the streets around Vadapalani Murugan Temple which is one of the important tourist attractions in Chennai. The volunteers spent two hours cleaning up the area.
 
  Diary & notebook distribution Tata Business Support Services  |  Hyderabad
 
Over 400 diaries & notebooks were distributed in Telengana Social Welfare Residential School, Hyderabad. The students and staff of the govt. school were very happy and expressed their gratitude to the volunteers. The volunteers interacted with the students and discussed elaborately about their career aspirations.
 
  Sponsored lunch for children Tata Business Support Services  |  Hyderabad
 
Three of the Tata BSS top management in their personal capacity contributed towards Sadhna Institute for the mentally challenged in Nacharam, Hyderabad and sponsored lunch for the 192 residents. They will be serving lunch to the residents on three consecutive days.
 
  Plantation Drive Tata Business Support Services  |  Mohali
 
Plantation drive was conducted within the Tata BSS grounds. Variety of trees including flower and fruit bearing ones where planted to improve the green coverage in the premise. Volunteers bought their own sapling for the plantation drive.

Clothes, bedsheets, bags and blankets were distributed by the Tata BSS volunteering team at Prabh Asra and Bodhi Peet Home, which houses mentally challenged, orphans, homeless and destitute children. The volunteers interacted with the residents and motivated them. They also played an animated movie and watched it together.
 
  Awareness on cleanliness Tata Coffee  |  Telangana
 
The volunteers visited three village of Brahmanpally & met with the Panchayat officials. They discussed the importance of hygiene & cleanliness for healthy lives. The Sarpanch of Brahmanpally and few key personnel of the village were also present. A donation of waste lifting trolleys was made to the Panchayat. Afterwards volunteering team visited Telangana state Govt. residential school and spent quality time on the awareness among the school children on the value and importance of cleanliness.
 
  Visit to a school Tata Coffee  |  Telangana
 
The volunteers from Tata Coffee Limited ICD-Toopran visited the TS Govt. Residential School and interacted the children. The volunteers spent a considerable time with the children discussing the power of education and its importance in the competitive world. The event ended with gifts distribution to the children who participated in painting competition on “Water sustainability in a changing world”. All the children were happy to receive the gifts & volunteers enjoyed the event & donated books to school library.
 
  English Teaching & Donation of Dictionary Tata Power Solar  |  Bangalore
 
Tata Power Solar employees visited the Govt. Primary & High School at Gollahalli – Bangalore. The team of 10 employees spent time with the students and taught English. The volunteers donated English-English-Kannada Illustrated dictionaries to all the students in the school. The volunteers also spent time in teaching effective usage of the dictionary to the students.
 
  Visit to an old age home Tata Power Solar  |  Bangalore
 
TPS volunteers Visited Belaku Vruddha Ashram in Jayanagar & Om Ashram near Arekere in Bangalore. Both the ashrams are for senior citizens. The team spent time with them and sang a few songs.
 
  Cleanliness drive Tata Power Solar  |  Bangalore
 
TPS Volunteers visited the Govt. Higher Primary School located at Thirupalya in Bangalore and educated the school children about the need of hygiene & cleanliness. The volunteers conducted a cleaning campaign in the school campus & demonstrated to the children ways to maintain cleanliness in their school premises & surrounding areas. To motivate the children, the volunteers also donated cleaning materials and aids to the school authorities.
 
  Plantation drive Tata Power Solar  |  Bangalore
 
TPS Volunteers conducted a Swachh Abhiyan campaign at employees dwelling communities in Heelaligi and Anekal road. They educated the community about the importance of hygiene & environment protection. 180 tree saplings were planted by 23 volunteers. The children of the locality were also taught the benefits of growing trees & encouraged to nurture the plants regularly to grow them to trees.

TPS volunteers visited the Govt. Primary & High School at Hilalagi and Muthyanallure and discussed the importance of physical education & sports activities with the children. The employees donated sportswear, volley ball & volley ball net for the students to practice & participate in competition. The volunteers also educated the children about cleanliness and participated in cleaning activities at the school campus.

TPS Volunteers visited the Govt. Higher Primary school and educated the school children about the need of hygiene & cleanliness. The volunteers also donated the cleaning materials to encourage cleanliness. The TPS team also donated group study tables to help improve the ergonomics of the students along with books & journals storage racks for their library.

TPS Volunteers visited the local community near Electronic city Bangalore and identified the families for enhancing sustained livelihood and employability. Accordingly new sewing machines with all necessary accessories were donated to 6 women. The team also sponsored structured tailoring training course for the 6 women through an experienced trainer. The women will be trained for 3 months which will help them to enhance their livelihood through self-employment.

A team of employees from Process Technology Group and JDC Raw Material Management of Tata Steel visited the primary school of Bhuridih and Baredih. Volunteers interacted with the students and distributed school bags, pencil, eraser and biscuits. Children were happy to receive the gifts.

As a part of Tata Volunteering week 5, a retired employee of Tata Steel visited Day Care Centre and interacted with the inmates of the centre and spent some valuable time with them.

A Multi-Speciality Health Camp was organised at TSRDS Health Sub-Center, Chainpur for nearby 12 villages by the West Bokaro Division. The day started with an awareness session on Oral Hygiene, Skin & ENT related diseases due to contaminated water. Ways for early detection & treatment of Tuberculosis was also imparted to the villagers. All total 361 patients including 71 children below 12 yrs of age availed the health check-up facility with free medications and on-the-spot pathology investigation.

A cleanliness drive was organised by spouses of Tata Steel employees at bustee area of Tuiladungri centre with a motto to keep their place clean.
